Nothing yet

Despite the gorgeous weather we've been having lately in western NY/Buffalo (mid 50's as of late) :D , garage sales are slim to none. Only luck now is the flea markets/Goodwill/Salvation Army/Craigslist.

Always looking, ya never know what treasures are out there.

Joe

I haven't found anything good yet. Goodwill and salvation army have been pretty dry. Garage sales are dead in this area for a few months and there is really never anything good on craigslist on my area. I do have a tip. Make sure to put in craigslist.com. Craiglist.com is a porn site.

Wee 2007 thread! Sales have been really slow even when we get decent weather. I did manage to find one of those big plastic N64 cart cases at a goodwill for a $1.00. My super nintendo games fit in there as well so I have been loading them in.

I guess I should have posted my find here since it was in 2007. Yesterday, I found Sierra's King's Quest Collector's Edition at a thriftstore for $2.98. It had two discs that said King's Quest I-VI. The odd thing is that I looked on ebay and the ones going for a lot have boxes that look different from mine.

I mean, mine has a blue box and a red minatour looking like going to attack some princess. Also, apparently mine had a like nine floppy discs that contained a version of the sixth game, which actually work.

I wonder if there were different versions or mine maybe just an old version of the collection and it didn't come with VII like the other collections. Maybe someone here can clear this up?

So far for this year, I got the following

Legend of Oasis Complete for Sega Saturn
Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy for NES
Final Fight 3 for the SNES

Cost ten dollars.

Nothing yet since snow just keeps hitting this state. I'll eventually find a good deal though and share once I get it. Till then...I bid all good luck in their search for gaming goods and such.

Found Wave bird wireless controller for 10 bucks yesterday, not that great of a deal but goes alright with the game cube I found. All the hookups, the system, and 2 memory cards for 20 bucks from Savers.

Today at the fleamarket I got

The Bouncer and Dark Cloud Strategy Guides for two dollars
Resident Evil Code Veronica X for the Gamecube Sealed Ten dollars
Final Fantasy VII GH discs 1 and 2 with insert two dollars
Canon i250 printer for two dollars
Some Naki thing that lets me save games on any snes game. Five dollars.

Game boy player from the pawn shop for 5 bucks. Got the start up disc from a different shop for a buck

Picked up a Grey Japanese Sega Saturn yesterday. (off Craig's List)

Great condition, looks brand new. $50, which seems a little steep, but I'm using it strictly for import Saturn games.

Flea market find today.

This guy had a box of mixed PC games and music CD's, he wanted $1.00 each. most of it was crap or damaged but I managed to find these in the mix. I CIF $2 which he took without even thinking about it

TG16
Keith Courage - sealed but case has a crack
Legendary Axe - complete
China Warrior - complete

PC
House of the Dead - disc and case are mint

I have a HUGE post for today, so bear with me here.

Lets start with yesterday. I woke up late and found squat at the swap meet, but following a couple of signs, I found a couple of garage sales.

At one I got for $5

SNES system with hookups and 1 controller, LttP and DKC. I'm gonna have to take apart the system and clean it, same with the controller, but everything should work just fine after I'm done with it.

findes001.jpg

I went to the neighbor who was having a sale and got for $5

TOCA Racing, Driver, GT 1 and 2, Megaman X4, Need for Speed High Stakes, Twisted Metal 4, Medal of Honor, GTA 2, Road Rash 3D, Rally Cross 2 and a PS2 Dual Shock. 11 games and 1 controller

findes002.jpg

Now today was even more crazy, my younger brother and I got up and headed out for the swap meet at 8:30. We first hit up one in San Diego.

For $5 I got

Myst for the Saturn (complete), Last Blade 2 for the DC, Sonic 1, American Gladiators, World of Illusion with MM and DD, Castle of Illusion. 6 games for $5

findes003.jpg

Then we went over to the Oceanside Swap Meet, where I only got 1 game. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo for $2. Then we went over to the Kmart nearby and I got a ton of games there. I spent $41 and he spent $13.

I got:

Asphalt
Feel the Magic
True Swing Golf x2
Drill Dozer
Chibi Robo
Neopets (PSP)
DBZ Sagas (Xbox)
Indigo Prophecy

He got:

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Psychonauts

findes004.jpg

After this, I went home, got a couple of more games that I had laying around and headed for FYE, who had their trade in deal right now. I traded in:

Tiger Woods 05 (gamecube)
Clancy Triple Pack
Indigo Prophecy
DBZ Sagas
Spiderman 2 (DS)
True Swing Golf
Sprung
NeoPets

With their 20% extra deal, I got $54 cash! I covered all of my purchases for the day PLUS nearly half of yesterday!

Although it doesn't end there. After we ate, we went into my local Sears and right before seeing a friend of mine, I noticed that they had 2 copies of Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix! I snatched up both of them, although I offered one to my friend first before I bought them as he was looking for one. He didn't have the money though, so I bought both for $107 after tax.

findes005.jpg

I finally got home about 4:30pm, tired and a bit sunburnt, but overall it was a great weekend.

Might as well talk about some games I found so far this year:
At Savers:
Final Fight CD (Sega CD) - $3 (CD only, looks like it came from a small-time rental store)

At a local used/import games store:
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (NDS) - $20 (Used, complete with box and instructions)

i'd been following last years thread since early on and made a few purchases, however this year i have resolved to get to more garage sales and complete my collection... looking foward to a long 2007!

It's been a long while since I posted anything I found, mainly because I haven't been yard saling any time recently. I did find a deal on craigslist today. Not yardsale good, but still good for craigslist. Anyway, for $50 I got:

1 Sega Dreamcast in box w/instructions and hookups
3 Dreamcast controllers (2 official, 1 generic)
4 VMUs (3 official, 1 generic)
the following games (all mint and complete):
Crazy Taxi
Crazy Taxi 2
Sonic Adventure
NFL 2k2
NBA 2k2
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing
NBA Showtime: NBA on NBC
Virtua Tennis (x2)

1 Nintendo 64 with all hookups
3 official controllers (2 atomic purple, 1 grey)
1 rumble pak
2 memory cards
Conker's Bad Fur Day (complete)
Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Star Wars Rogue Squadron
Cruisin World
Winback
Ken Griffey Jr Slugfest
NFL Quarterback Club 99

1 Sony Playstation w/ hookups
1 third-party controller
Gran Turismo 2 (complete)

and the following Sega Genesis games, all cart only:
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic 2
Road Rash II
Sports Talk Baseball
Frank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball
Frogger
RBI Baseball 4

Man, I gotta get out there on Saturday... I only really went out saling once and picked up a helluva a lot of stff for $4.35, but that was on a city-wide garage-sale day. I can't really even find signs anywhere on weekends.

So does everyone here go on CL and find ads, then go following signs? Also, how do you mapquest every house? I would never be able to fingure out the best routes to link at the addresses together with....

And get out there at about 8 AM, right?

Thatnks :D

Foofoo - Google Maps now lets you put in multiple destinations so the whole day can be mapped out at once. Very nice!

Everyone has their preference. As Hyundai pointed out, Google Maps lets you put in multiple destinations so you can map out your whole day. When the season kicks in up here, I might give it a try, but I tend to map one address at a time. I've grown familiar with the areas we frequent, plus when I see each set of directions as they generate, I remember better when I'm in less familiar areas. If we see signs, we'll veer off our route to check it out, then get right back on.

That's good that you got one, but that looks like it is going to be one big cleaning job. You better stock up on windex or 409 cleaner, alcohol (90% or better), and plenty of qtips and paper towels.

Yeah, tomorrow I plan to get all the cleaning supplies together and clean while watching the playoff games that are on. I would today, but I have to work.

Picked up a Dreamcast with all hookups, 2 controllers, A VMU and Loony Toon Space race, Wich has no manual or case. $10.

Also picked up The legend Of Zelda: A LinK To The Past for the Super NES for $3. It's the Game only, But great condition!

Went to some thrift stores in the area today and got the following:

MediEvil II (PS1) - Complete $2.92
Worms Armageddon (PS1) - Complete $2.92
Perfect Dark Initial Vector Novel $0.90

Total - $6.74

Not too shabby.

Mrs. shipwreck also picked up a 2nd edition Anne of Green Gables book from the early 1900's with a dust jacket in great condition for $1.91, so that was probably the highlight of the trip.

Not much going on in my neck of the woods due to rain - looks like I won't be participating until mid-February and even then it depends on the weather - got my bachelor party next weekend, wedding the weekend after that, on my honeymoon for the weekend after that and then nephew's birthday... and all I want to do is go garage saling!

picked up yesterday:

GameCube component video cable (official Nintendo brand), $7
CLUE boardgame (sealed), $4
DVD Christmas with the Kranks, $3
DVD Good Burger, $2

total: $16

i tried to talk the seller down on the GC cable, but he was "selling it for someone else". 7 bucks was still a great price. man, it was COLD. i had on two sweaters and a jacket and i was still a little chilly. i love Christmas with the Kranks, so that was a nice price for that dvd. Good Burger i bought on a whim since i used to like to watch K&K and All That.

i hope next weekend is better.

I got a Gamecube kiosk for free. ^_^ Came with the everything but the core system (2 controllers and cables were included). Now I have 3 kiosks! (XBOX, PS2, and now Gamecube) ^_^

Snagged a 2nd copy of Blazing Angels for XBOX this week on ebay with 2 other (cr@p) games for $10 + shipping ($5.70). I wanted to pick up a 2nd copy to play System Link multiplayer style. Both copies have only cost me $27.57 (and, I still have the other 2 cr@p titles that I can probably use for trade-in for a couple of bucks).

Not a bad deal snagging 2 copies for what 1 regularly sells for on ebay ($30), or, $40 new/$35 used at GameCrazy. :}

*side note:
I finally been getting into playing the single player part of Project Snowblind. Originally it was going to be a Deus Ex mutliplayer game. For whatever reason things didn't work out that way and it became it's own game (even thou you can still see signs of the Deus Ex elements from time to time). However, unlike Deus Ex, the game is a bit more action oriented (which I enjoyed MUCH more than DX2 even thou I was a fan of the original DX). I enjoy the way the weapons "feel" in the game. They come across as having the right effect/look/sound to them that seems to just fit. It's a cheapy now, so ya may want to give it a whirl if you haven't already.

that's weird. the 360 version seems to be cheaper overall. are they supposed to be the same game, or do they differ a lot?

allyourblood,

From what I have read, they have the same gameplay. The 360 version is supposed to be "prettier"...but...I've people have complained of graphical tearing issues on that version too (vsync issue).

Based on what I've read, there are fewer copies of the game produced for XBOX compared to XBOX 360. In local stores around here, only 1 even had the XBOX version while most of them had several copies of the 360 version. Due to this sort of "shortage" for the original XBOX version, the price seems to have remained higher.

thanks for the info. i played the demo for the 360 and rather liked the game, even though i generally fail at any sort of "flight" games. i might have to see if i can find this used near me, since people are now selling Xbox 1 games for very low prices.

today's finds:

Switch 'N Carry Nintendo DS Lite case, new, $1

Creative SoundBlaster Extigy, $5

Sony Playstation Debugging Station (DTL-H1001) w/ Lightspan prototype game disc, $7

total: $13

another slow day, with people hiding out from the chilly weather. even so, i managed to grab a couple decent items. i was most pleased with the PSX system -- i've never seen a debug system in person, and it's pretty cool. it plays burned discs right outta the gate (obviously), and she works like brand-new, which was nice since i half expected the thing to not work at all. it came with a game disc on CDR from a company called "Lightspan", which includes 4 games: "Delivery game", "Egg toss", "Basketball", and one more whose name escapes me at the moment. they're HORRIBLE. the graphics are very rudimentary, and gameplay is limited to the d-pad and one action button at most per game. rather than being full and complete titles, these were obviously intended as quick mock-ups for a presentation, etc. still, i've never seen these games in any form "in the wild", and i doubt i ever will. here's a photo of the disc, and here is one of the label on the underside of the system, if you're interested. lastly, the lady i bought it from wanted 10 dollars for it. i offered her five, and she countered with seven, which i accepted.

i already have an old Audigy card, but the Extigy was still a nice find, since it includes MIDI In and Out, so i no longer have to connect my MidiSport USB in order to connect my instruments/equipment to my computer. the seller wanted 8 dollars, but i came back with five, which they accepted.

that's about all. good luck to those heading out tomorrow!

Excellent find, that's a nice showpiece for your collection. Was this from a flea market?

Here's a little more information on where it came from. The games probably sucked because Lightspan seemed to be an edutainment company.

Here too.

hey max! my lil bro showed me those very same links earlier today, after we got home. i didn't want to bore you guys with too many details... unless of course, you asked. ;)

EDIT: yes, from a flea market.

last time i check those lightspan games were like extremely rare or something, you might wanna check that out.
