I'll be picking up Kingdom Crusaders over Fable, still picking up Donkey Konga, don't know what to make of the guy's game score when gamestop and ign reviewed it so high. Also very disappointing score for mario pinball. Thanks for the reviews.
 
I don't know about you guys, but EGM's scores always seem very biased and also depends on if the reviewer wakes up on the wrong side of the bed or not. I also find it interesting that EA games get 8.5+
 
I make up my own mind about games, I think we are all mature enough to do that. I heard about all the Fable reviews, and they all seem great. And I even heard about the 7.5 that ONE reviewer gave it. Isay lets wait and see what millions of gamers have to say.

EGM has always been hard on their reviews. It takes a pretty good game to just earn a silver score (at least an average of 8.0)

That's the way I like it. I hate reviews who hand out "must buy" awards or 8-9 out of 10's to every damn game.

I don't know about you guys, but EGM's scores always seem very biased and also depends on if the reviewer wakes up on the wrong side of the bed or not. I also find it interesting that EA games get 8.5+

Maybe because most of their games are...I don't know...good? They did trash the latest Medal of Honor game, and the same went for Catwoman.
 
The more EGM reviews I read the more I realize how non-objective they are.

When it came to HSG:Fore they gave it shit scores simply because they were fanboys of Tiger woods - which was clearly noticable in the way they kept referring to it.

At first I thought EGM/1up were credible, but not anymore.

Like I've always said, read the review, pay attention to the FACTS about the game that relate to your gaming likes and ignore everything else.
 
Just curious as to how someone obtained this info?...I mean it's September 10th, how did someone get that info this early? I know EGM usually is finished and ready for printing pretty early in the month, but still...

that's the same way I feel. For some time now, oh I'd say since 2000 to 2001 (somewhere between there), EGM has been going downhill. Lots of their reviews seeem to be biased like somebody bought them and they seem to give plenty of crappy scores for games that are and seem unbelievable. Mario Pinball for instance, it looks amazing, and I've played a demo of it and just by that I can say that it is a fun pinball sim that at the least deserves a seven. Look at what Nintendo has done on the GBA with Mario Pinball, also Advanced Guarrdian Heroes shoudl be awesome, because I have played the original and that one was awesome.

I think it's more along the lines of comparing it to the best game of the genre. Which is why almost every FPS game is compared to Halo (which is overrated :twisted:)
 
What is the month of this issue. I think I just got October.

XBN gave The Guy Game a 0/10. I'd say that's a pretty bad score.

7 = It sucks and anything below this number sucks even more, in fact if you buy a 6 you're gay and we dont like you.

I got tired of game that got 7's from them actually being good and worth my money and decided their reviews obviously have only about as much thought put into them as the text next to the number.

(also I think we can all agree the guy game is a racid peice of shite.)

Best game according to who? Them? Last time I checked that is called bias.

I think HSG:Fore is the best game in the genre, I don't care what they think. And last time I checked HSG:fore was in the top 5 best selling games for the month or whatever.
 
I've been gettin EGM for more than 5 years now and I agree they've gone downhill. This happened right around the time they decided to reformat. It went from a great magazine to a mediocore one. A lot of the old crew left, including Sushi-X. But, I still like their scores because they're different. Most people still misinterperate their scores. A 5 is average for them. NOT a 7, but a 5. That's what people don't understand. Also, they have nothing against the Hot Shots series because they ranked the 2nd game in their Top 100 Greatest Games of All Time and gave the 3rd game a gold.

That's not how EGM reviews games. a 5 is NOT a terrible score, it's an AVERAGE score (think C). As far as I know, 2 scores above average does not mean "it sucks", unless your one of those idiots who think anything under a 9 is a "flop"
 
Wow what's with all the EGM hate? I personally find it to be the best in the business. And yeah we only saw the scores posted for the most recent issue. Maybe we should wait and see the words behind the scores before we go nuts.
 
I agree, EGM is definitely the best mag on the market. I don't always 100-percent agree, but usually it's pretty close.

As far as the guy game, some friends and I rented it tonight and it basically blows. Rent a porn or girls gone wild video and you'll be better off.
 
Yeah!!! another 3D platformer gets game of the month. Didn't see that coming.

Are 3D platformers really that great, the last one I played and beat was Conkers Bad Fur Day. Sly 2 might be fun, but they aren't getting stale with gamers yet?
 
I'm not into platformers at all (well maybe old school Mega Man games) I am totally over them. I just don't want to do the exact same thing over and over until I get it right, as platformers always require.
 
Here is some more evidence proving EGM's a piece of shit.

In their Second Sight review they say about the PS2 version: "The PS2 game's supercrappy graphics and sometimes-spotty controls..."

Yeah, I'm really going to trust such an intelligent, objective review :roll:
 
i really trust EGM reviews, with the supercrappy whatever they're just trying to make a joke. Do you honestly want everything to be Shakespearean quality?
 
what it all comes down to is taste. exp. I love rpg's i HATED (with a passion) the last 2 final fantasy's x and x2. mostly because of the charecters. not only could i not root for them but i wish someone would have come along with a chain saw and hacked all their libs off before the game started. continuosly staring at there dissmembered bodies would be more enjoyable than following them through any story the game had to offer. and yet i know ppl who love these games...love everything about them. and these ppl are not idiots they are intelligent ppl that i respect they just have diferant tatses than i do.
most of you guys like nintendo games. i havent played one yet that i could sit through for more than 2 hours (weather it be zelda mario or metroid) they have all bored the liveing shit out of me, but im not going to wast my time slaming them and calling you guys biased. I understand that you guys like diferant things in your games than i do. and thats really all it comes down to.

I agree. I may be flamed for this, but I am not a fan of GTA. I'm not gonna bash it as I recognize that people are different. I played GTA for a few hours and got bored. I tried GTA: VC hoping it was different, but it was just GTA with new maps/models. I just tried GTA: SA and I felt the same. I'm not saying it IS the same but it feels the same.

I DO recognize that the GTA games are very good quality, but it's just not for me. The point is, play the games and decide for yourself. I have enjoyed games that have recieved less than stellar reviews.

ALso, I like your Fight Club sig.

I also did not care for GTA 3. The hype of San Andreas was just too much for me so I bought a copy. If I feel the same as GTA3 you'll see my copy of GTA:SA in the trade forum sometime next week.....

i must have seen it around 20 times. its my all time favorite movie. its even better than the book. tylers plan in the movie makes alot more sense..it would actually be acomplishing something insted of just makeing a statement(the book they're trying to blow up a musiemum wich wouldnt do much...altho palahniuk tries to make sense out of it) and tyler doesnt have alot of personality in the book brad pit brings alot to the charecter...but anyway im going on,and this doesnt even have anything to do with this thread.
