happy Xenoblade 2sday!!

even tho it aint tuesday!

and even tho Xeno 2 has been out for a while!!

and even tho it's actually new years day!

I dont care, becoz I gotta tell yallz about how I'm so hype for a game that I wont even play until probably 2019, but at least I can spend my year looking at the shiny collector's edition box I got up on my shelf!

I did however 100% mario odyssey last week tho, so my Switch is now unhooked from my TV and my WiiU is back, so hoping I can get back to XCX soon... maybe this month too, but I'm always juggling multiple games now it seems :P

I've totally overlooked the release of Episode Ignis btw, so probably gonna do some FFXV soon.

also want to move Nier Automatic up to the top of the backlog becoz GOTY discussions are reaully pushing it up to the priority spots!

after that, not sure if I have any other RPG goals for the new year, but Ys VIII for sure and hopefully I can also dive into Trails SC.

happy thanksgiving!! ppl be talking like nobody cares about Steam sales, and here I am having spent $30 on steam this weekend >_<

did pick up 2 RPGz - Xanadu Next and Deus Ex the new one, which I'll need a new PC to play lol, but it was cheap!!

side note, the PS4 I bought during black friday last year actually came with DeusEx! but I sold it coz I'd prefer mouse & keyboard to play.

but yah, more for the forever backlog, and speaking of this looks hype!

I actually did buy a Switch about a month ago, having fun with Mario much to the detriment of my backlog, and I'm still committed to beating Xenoblade X, but at least I do own the console to play X2 when I'm ready to!

and thanks to the switch, also get to be hype for SMTV and Project Octopus Trainer!

awwwwwww yeeeeeaaaaayyyyy Nier is done!

Cool game; but dang it took me 2 months to beat it! (started mid July). In other words, Nier is as long as Persona 5 is!!!

Now I really wanna play Automatic, but unfortunately that will not be for a while :(

So I'm finally free to start my next game / RPG - Yakuza 0!!!

except... there's a small handful of indie games I wanna play thru first, and one of those games is the famous Undertale.

other 2 I wanna play are Axiom Verge and Freedom Planet, so the next 30 hours should definitely be much more fun than the last 30 have been lol.

Still... Nier, worth experiencing and very happy that I did. I will now watch random youtube vids to help understand the story and world more lol.

OK, spent my time this weekend getting thru playthru #3 of Nier.

Ending B was OK coz you can just power thru the game, but ending C makes the game terrible again because there's a item collection requirement to achieve, which causes the game to force you into sidequests. Not a fun time at all :(

fortunately, I've made it thru and am now at the final save point!

Not sure if I will beat it again tonite, but should easily have the game completed this week!!

I'm also glad that there's no need to play the game again; you can get the last 2 endings by just reloading the final save point so that's a relief!

ahhhhhh yeah I'm back! and I finally beat Persona 5 this weekend!!

best game ever!!!

it's so perfect!!

of course I've read the internet tho so I know ppl do have issues with the game,

and I can also be the one to point out minor things, or compare the game to 3 and 4 before it,

but none of that matters.

What does is the fact that I spent a solid 130 hours playing it, and loved it the entire way thru! If I can keep returning to a game for that long with constant enthusiasm and enjoyment then it's definitely doing something right.

I've always wanted to replay 3 and 4 portable versions, and after finishing this game I think at least P4G is a must... just a matter of when...

right now I've jumped back into Xenoblade X for my first time in almost a year?? I really do wanna eventually beat this, so I'm forcing myself to play at least one chapter in between games so I can slowly and slowly push forward. Spent an hour playing earlier today and definitely feel like I'm getting back into the swing at it (my save was at 20 hours, but I also made sure to save my progress right in front of my next Chapter marker so I would not have any problem figuring out where to go next no matter how long a break I took from the game).

after that I'm gonna play Nier. Always wanted to play it, and with Automata out, feel like I really need to get to it so I can do Automata later as well.

After that, Yakuza 0. I've totally been sitting on these games since they came out lol.

oh yeah, and Episode Prompto this week too!!

I also have a LE of FE Valentia which'll sit right beside Conquest and never get played, right next to Shiren and Trails Cold Steel too, and I'm gonna buy Tokyo Xanadu this week knowing darn well it'll just go on my shelf too lol.

I'd really like to pick up FFXV, but I think I'll wait til they are done patching it and there's a complete version for a decent price. I've waited almost ten years, a few more won't hurt.

The game is already complete IMO, just play it. It's a huge game so they can definitely keep adding to it, but anything they add isn't going to make the game better or different. The story is terrible so you can't fix that, but the boys are the boys no matter what and that's the only reason to play the game.

Even if they added a new boy via DLC ppl would be like yo who the fukk is this guy gtfo.

I bought a 40'' 4K TV yesterday from Best Buy! The samsung one! It only costed me $300 so I think I got a good deal! I dont even need to wait for BF now lol.

What I do want now is a PS4, and it looks like Kohls is the place to be?

$250 + you get a $75 gift card?

Also if you're using a Chase Freedom card you get a 5% point bonus for shopping at Kohls this quarter.

spoilers of SMT Apocolypse, but this story is the most fan-fictiony shyt ever.

it basically takes one of the many routes the original SMT4 can go in, and makes a sidestory out of it revolving around some random characters in the world, so already a perfect setting to do whatever they want.

Your main character dies at the beginning of the game, only to be revived by some demon with an agenda, the dood's like "you will be my guy! through you I will accomplish my goals"

then you go on a mission and run into a character who's like "you! young man! is that my son hanging around with you? BOY! WTF you doing with that kid!"

and the demon's like "moooooooooom~!!! shutup! I'm trying to do a thing! leave me alone! gosh!! grrrr you're so annoying!!"

and ppl on neogaf be like "yo this story is awesome! way better than the original!"

I hit the 4 hour mark in SMT Apocalypse.

this game is so good!

so good!

pretty much the same as the older one, which I loved. Music is awesome, setting is awesome, game is a ton of fun, definitely has its hooks in me!

Characters that are at least semi-important to the plot often don't die in FE games, they merely get permanently injured. In Awakening, none of the first-generation women totally "die"; in Fates, none of the first-gen men die.

I think.

Story wise I'm not sure anyone dies in the game, then again the overall story in Awakening isnt anything special,

but when you beat the game the story snippets just say "Retired" on your dead characters.

ahhhh 43 hours into Trails FC and I'm finally burnt out lol... need a palate cleansing game before I continue lol.

I may have included sidequests in the time, but you're more than likely to do them on the first playthrough. If you're strictly adhering to a guide and doing just the main story or doing a NG+ run off of a save, then it will take significantly less. I don't think I've seen anybody actually claim they've beat it less than 60 hours on their first run, but I'm not really looking out for that either.

I've done all the Bracer mission sidequests, but having read some of the gamefaqs walkthru apparently there's other sidequests I missed out on!

furthermore, you can get a "perfect score" in this game which I'm like a few points off from based on what the guides tell me my BP should be at... so I wonder how I lost those points.

regardless, for a very linear game that allows for no backtracking at all, there sure is a lot of stuff you can miss out on in this game lol.

but seems to be all weapons and orbs that make you that much stronger, in a game that really is not too difficult to begin with.

just so looooong lol.

in other news, I bought Dark Souls for $5 off humble bundle store! still never made it past like 4 stages in Demon Souls tho lol

aw yah, I'm back from my trip, and finished Chapter 2 of Trails at like 24 hours, and now am ready to start Xenoblade X.

except I'm not ready to start Xenoblade coz the Trails train is way too strong!!! gotta keep it going!!

also picked this up at MGC:

all I need is Nier and I have all my next gen RPGs that I want in my backlog lol. Wonder if I'll actually play it tho.

Trails in the Sky FC is around 35-45 hours typically.

Trails in the Sky SC is around 75-100 hours typically.

I was on the lower end of the spectrum, but plenty took longer. Most of that would be attributed to talking to every NPC after every plot advancement as the NPCs have more interesting stuff to say compared to other games. The rest of the time would be completionist stuff.

75 hours?!?! geez, aint nobody got time for that!!

man, my favorite website doesnt even quote the game that high:

man that Final Fantasy hype is real... I went to the event and ppl were cheering their butts of like none of this shyt got leaked earlier lol.

I even bought the $300 version of the game... I dont even want it! shyt, I dont even got a PS4! but now I got a game that costs more than the system does >_<

George Wood was a strange man who hosted a strange public-access TV show called "Flights of Fantasy" in Maryland in the 90s. A group called NAVGTR later acquired the rights to his show and put it all online under the name "Gaming in the Clinton Years". Your signature picture is used in the intros to his rambling, nonsensical reviews.

oh yah yah! those reviews are the shit!!

seriously tho, if more reviewers took example of those vids and made reviews more like that instead of the stuff we have today, we wouldnt have all this ethics in games journalism crap you see on the internet these days...

Just a heads up that if you enjoy the game and actually beat it, you'll likely want to head straight into the direct sequel that picks up immediately after the end of the first game due to the ending. It's roughly twice at long as the first one, at minimum. Though if you want the true localization experience, wait four years to play the second game. That was pretty rough.

twice at minimum?!?!?! aint nobody got time for that!!

shyt I got a lot of other games I wanna play lol... I've already made it 5 hours into Trails and I'm not even past the prologue yet!!

I'm jus enjoying the fact that I'm not getting my butt kicked yet lol.

yoyo talkin about RPGeeeeeeez~!!!

I finally beat Bravely D a few weeks ago... after not playing it for over a year, stopping at the chapter 5 where everyone stops, but the game has always been in the back of my head bugging me to finish it.

thanks goodness for 10+ hour flights, I spent some time prior remembering how to play the game, then jus googled all the best job combos.

20 hours later, game was done! and it's real good too! glad I played it; and I also beat the demo for Bravely 2!

I got the game on pre-order too, but doubt I'll play it...

I wanna start Xenoblade X finally, once I finish the other console game I'm playing (Fatal Frame 4), but in the meantime I need another portable game to play,

so I finally restarted Trails in the Sky! my original save on PSP had 25 hours in it, so now I'm starting all over on the PSPita!

should start Xenoblade sometime in April so lookin forward to dual wielding RPGs lol.

aww yay yayee~!!! I cant believe it but I beat Earthbound finally!

took me so long becoz 1) the game is sooooo slow paced and 2) I hate micromanagement in games, in this case limited item inventory.

it's a good game, but I can see how so many games have been inspired from it so of course it doesnt have much of an impact on me, but I swear had I played it as a younger gamer I would absolutely love it!

ppl talk about the localization of it, and yup the localization on the game is quite brilliant. You can tell they were having a lot of fun!

anyways now I'm excited! I havent played any games all year coz I been trying to finish this one,

now that I have I feel like I can finally play games again lol, at least until I make my a bunch of 2016 new year resolutions that take my time away from gaming again =P

aw man I was excited about this Codename Steam game, coz Fire Emblem and Advance Wars are real good and the developer has dat pedigree.

and so I played the demo.

first of all the demo is hecka long, took me like 5 days to beat it, I cant imagine getting real far into the actual game.

but man this game is hot garbage.

like, it's the antithesis of fun.

so glad I checked it out, coz that's $40 saved right there,

and less distractions keeping me from actually finishing Earthbound this year lol
