I guess I'm a little slow...but I have the OG fat Xbox and will get a 4K tv on Black Friday.
Can the XB1 X play games in native 4k? And is the XB1 S limited to playing games in 1080p with 4K upscaling?
I was looking at the specs for both, and both have the 4K Optical Drive...so what spec allows for the X to play games in 4K while the S cannot?
Thanks in advance (from the local CAG mental slowpoke).
When it comes to playing games, the X is going to be able run a lot of games at native 4k. Some will be checkerboarded 4k. The S is not going to be able to do that. I don't think they'll be a difference in playing 4k ultra blu ray's. But when it comes to games the S isn't in the same league as the X.
This is a decent reference: https://majornelson....one-x-enhanced/

Shaq-Fu that "movie" Ghostbusters 2016. Such a waste of time, energy, effort and money.
Did you watch the movie? I know the previews made it seem awful but it was really good. I just watched it and it might be the best movie of the summer

I marvel at the lack of perspective from so many on this forum. This is the argument I keep hearing. "It's not enough to convince me to upgrade, I'll just stick with my current PS4!"
You do realize that Sony isn't trying to sell this thing to you, right? If you already own a PS4, they don't need you to buy a PS4-Pro. This thing is designed to be sold to people who just got a 4K screen, and want a video game system that can play 4K games. Ideally, these would be customers who DON'T already own a PS4. Existing PS4 customers are already buying and playing PS4 games, and their current strategy will continue to provide those games to those customers.
Now, like so many others, I am confused by the lack of 4K Blu-Ray support. This support does not require a special Blu-Ray drive. It does not require more expensive hardware. It is very odd that they would not provide this support, especially considering that Sony is one of the studios releasing 4K Blu-Rays. That one is a head-scratcher, and I understand the complaints over this missing feature.
But for the nay-sayers, I can assure you that the PS4-Pro is a smart move on Sony's part. It gives them a foot into the 4K gaming space that will bring them to market ahead of Microsoft, and for a lower price. The $400 price tag for the PS4-Pro is fantastic, just the right price. It won't convince most existing customers to upgrade, but it will be a viable premium model for those looking to bump up to 4K support, or acquire their first PS4.
And everyone stop wining over the hard drive. A double-size hard drive over the previous model is not a bad upgrade. And they are still providing the ability to swap it out with whatever size you prefer. (just like you can for the existing PS4)
hey if you are happy with it good deal. people on this site i'd say are pretty serious about gaming and i'm in that boat. I get pretty much every system when it comes out but something seems off here. Sony has been firing on all cylinders for a while, but this is not impressive.

guys I would seriously recommend switching to bing just for these rewards. They dropped $5 xbox credit to 325 points. that takes about 11-12 days. So if you are vigilant you can get around $12 a month. I have a second account for my wife that I don't keep up with and still rack up 5 dollar codes here and there. I love it

By recently ran into a bit of GameStop credit, do you possibly mean that you took advantage of GameStop's stupidity to mercilessly flip games to them in order to obtain a large profit?
I love GameStop......
Do you really love GameStop or are you just saying that because you raped them mercilessly this past week??

In case anyone is interested I got my 2nd X1 and found out some interesting things. You can share XBox Live Gold on your home console as well. So my current setup is one X1 is set to home and this is the console I shared Live Gold on and bought COD:AW. My son can use his account to play the game and get on live.
I sign onto my other X1 as the account that has gold and downloaded the game again and we can both play together online with different accounts. That is pretty sweet.
Two levels into Advanced Warfare and I'm liking the story so far. Pretty fun.
