#11116716 The Steam Deals + Cards Thread V9 | Torchlight II Weekend

Posted by JCAll on 07 October 2013 - 11:53 AM

I just buy new things when a computer starts to die on me, replacing the entire setup. Since I don't buy graphics-intensive games typically until after they've been out a year, I tend not to notice that I'm not at the top of the hardware curve. Lara Croft's hair be damned, for right now the best I need is for Skyrim to look pretty.

That's my plan too.  I'm far too cheapass to upgrade something that's just going to catch fire eventually anyway.

Maybe next time I'll get a machine that can actually play the games from 5 years ago cluttering up my Steam library..

Well, I can't get Primal Fear to run.  I really need to get a better video card if I can ever stop being so cheapass.

Oh well, best of luck to all the other CAGs in the contest.

Yeah,. not gonna pay 8 for a bundle.  There's something about paying more than 5 that really bothers me for some reason.  It's why I'm not even tempted by the Humble Weeklies anymore.  1-3-5, that's  a good progressing, that'll tempt more people.  Me?  I'm always good for a dollar.

Half off, huh? My hard drive curses the day I ever heard the word "Bundle".

Well lets see.  A dictatorship sim, a bi-plane racer, a bullet hell shooter co-developed with Grasshopper Manufacture(!?), and a game that I only remember because Zero Punctuation said it was insane.

So, totally sold.

Also, backups are your friends.  Including bookmarks.  I have bookmarks backed up from the  mid 90s.  I doubt the sites they point to are still there, but I have them backed up.

Still, that's rough, man.

You know what?  After months of fiddling with Google, and finally just giving up, posting this here convinced me to go back and try to get into my account one more time...and it worked!  I must have tried 30 times, but today was the day it took!  Which means I got back all the first 4 Humble Bundles and (most importantly) the old Frozenbyte bundle with the first Trine!

And a slew of other games from sited I had forgotten I had even signed up for.

Today is a good day.

Well I already got the Serious Sam Bundle ages ago, but a few more pennies to CroTeam to keep Serious Sam 4 in the works is never a bad thing.

The only game on there that really interest me is System Shock 2, and I am NOT paying $6 for SS2.  I don't even think it's a Retro Shooter.  It's old yeah, but it's one of the games that redefines a genre.  Duke and Sam are Retro Shooters, hell Painkiller is a retro shooter throw it in a Bundle once in a while.  But System Shock? Nah.

So what I'm doing now is sitting here deciding if it's worth $1 for ANOTHER copy of Duke Nukem 3D, that I probably won't play, just like my GOG version.  I'm leaning towards maybe...

You're lucky to be collecting. I'm just buying to hoard now. I have games older than me that I haven't gotten to yet.

I need to stop buying these. A backlog is one thing, but a digital backlog sitting on the internet on the off chance I might one day download it is something completely different.
