Re: fake codes dropping - I have dropped fake codes before, just so that the first person who responded stating the the code didn't work would get the real code. I used it as a way to combat ungrateful lurkers. I think this is a fair and viable method. I would suggest not restricting such action.

Huh, you are right. I can't go through the site normal navigation to grab them, but back a page I found the direct link to the mobile version for the 12-pack coupons. http://www.mycokerew...ventId=redirect
I grabbed two more. Now I am wondering how hog wild I should go getting these coupons since I have a bunch of points left over and I rarely find anything good on MCR. Anyone know when/if these coupons expire?

I don't think it is that low. There are posters on virtually every forum. Now, may be the same people signed up for each one, or the tactics Microsoft and others used have kept most people silent.
Consider this, any user with his gamertag tied to a forum account that hasn't been banned yet (even if his console, or foreign accounts were) or hoping to salvage his gamertag is not likely to publicly discuss the issue, for fear of Microsoft hunting him down and violating him further.
I certainly agree here. If I had a GT associated with my profile on CAG I would never have been posting in this thread as I have, for fear of reprisal. There are other sites I frequent where I do have my GT associated with my account and I have refrained from joining in that discussion. People are justifiably afraid of losing their main GT, even though they have done nothing wrong with their GT. People will keep quiet to try to keep that from happening.

Console was banned on the 26th. I bought a used slim 250gb for 120 bucks and I'm currently playing GTA Online(or trying to, thanks R*) on my main account. I downloaded my main account to the new console and transferred only a few saves(from legit games) that I need right now. Still, I'm scared that MS will ban me again for whatever reason they think of. It could be my main account and my new Xbox to go with it.
That story of that guy that was console banned on the 26th and was banned today(or yesterday) just increased my paranoia to a whole new level.
Honestly, I am a bit suspicious as I am nervous of that report. It just doesn't make sense for the bans to be spread out. Think about it. If they wanted to ban your GT for the same reason that they were banning your console, they would look up what GTs play on the console they are banning and ban both at the same time. They already have the console info infront of them, they wouldn't want to do the same work twice. Keep in mind that among this wave of bans, people have also reported being banned for non-foreign account game issues. It seems the people getting console bans are the people who used the foreign accounts to get free games, but people are also getting banned for the $1/1month gold, cheating, modding, and selling as well. It seems likely that at least some of the people who got the free games are also doing one of these other things as well. So a person gets console banned for the foreign accounts and then at a later time they find his main account is doing one of these other things.
I hope that is what went on, but I never read the NeoGaf account of the situation.

eldergias would you happen to know if I can store my down load games on a usb drive on my 360 then when I get my hard drive for my 360, if I can transfer from usb drive to HDD all on same system?
You can definitely do that. However, that won't tranfer any game licenses. You would still need to either transfer the licenses from xbox.com or sign in with the account that purchased the games.
Even before this whole situaiton, I always kept my GT, save games, and a copy of my arcade games on a USB stick so I could take them with me and play at friend's houses.

I just found this and thought it was slightly relevent so I am posting it here:
How do I change my account location?
You can move your Microsoft account from the region it’s associated with now to any other region up to one time every three months. However, after your Microsoft account transitions, the currency in your account will not move with you, so be sure to spend your currency before you change your account location!
This specifically says you can change your account region to any other account region. It does not say you actually have to live there or any other requirement, it specifically says you are allowed to change regions.

So what exactly happened here? Why are people getting banned?
1) Making/using foreign accounts.
2) Downloading free foreign games.
3) Using the $1 for 1 month of xbox live deal.
4) Being on the same IP address as someone else who was banned.
5) Playing on the same console as someone else who was banned.
6) Playing one of the free foreign games.
7) Transferring accounts between regions.
8) Using BOTH the console and profile license for paid content at the same time while on different xbox 360s (while online).
So far, those are all the reasons I have seen for people getting banned.

Here's personally what I would do and I might end up doing anyway. If you're not tag banned, but console banned, buy used, either don't sell or at least alert to the fact the console is banned if you're selling that console. Anyway, buy a used one, redownload your content, never buy a new game, always go used. I'd say screw supporting M$ until the PS4 comes out.
I'll add to that, use all the credit in your account.

Man this sucks harder and harder, I feel bad for everyone this happened to. Question though, can you redownload games that have been delisted, but you have purchased? I have a few on my account when I get my xbox 360.
So long as they are in your download history, you can download them again (despite being delisted).

I wont recover main tag for awhile i am going fresh... I feel ms has more stuff coming are way. I wonder if i recover the ban tag will they ban new console to? I think nobody is safe now...
That is an interesting thought. I think there is sound logic to thinking that if you have received any sort of punishment, then you probably won't receive any more (I did an analysis of this earlier in the thread). But if you want to be uber paranoid, you shouldn't HDD transfer to a new console, USB memory transfer to a new console, gamertag recover to a new console, or license transfer to a new console until they have stopped banning people for a while (to hope to pass un-noticed and retain your gamertag).

Okay, I am going to write this in a neutral manner.
Microsoft may be, and probably are, banning people for having foreign accounts, but their system is specifically tailored to allow people to make foreign accounts.
I went part way through the account creation process so I could confirm if you need to lie at any point. In the first section of the account creation it asks "Where are you from?" (Proof). But on the next step of the process, after this page, there is another drop box which is simple entitled "Country/Region" (Proof). It does not say "Where are you from?" or "Your Country/Region", it is simply asking what region would you like to have a xbl account it. This is the box that determines which region account you have. There is no lying involved. If MS didn't want people making accounts in different regions, then "Where are you from?" country and "Country/Region" country would be one box, not two. This implementation specifically allows for making foreign accounts, which makes me question what specifically the current wave of bannings is targeting.
