#14330744 Playstation 5 Re-stock Thread

For those that need the explainer, Travis Scott is kind of analogous to Kanye West for the younger generation. Had a good album and some tracks, kind of sold out over time, had a baby with a Kardashian, gets by largely on "brand" more so than music at this point. Big enough to host his own sold out music festival and sell out of $80 concert tees. Will probably do a KPop collab within the next year.

Not saying it will do as much for some crowds as tech Youtubers, since I imagine early adopters tend to do research and will appreciate that. However, does show they know the power of social media and may bring in the crowd that waits in line for "lifestyle" items like $500 sneakers.

Look into powerline adapters. This is what I use to hardwire. You plug one into an outlet near the router and the other into the outlet near the ps4. The connection is passed through the outlets so you don't have long ethernet cables all over the house.

I use this with Google Fiber and if you buy adapter that can handle the speeds, speed tests are almost identical to when I was running a 100ft of network cable. Home wiring quality plays a role though, so if you can spare the cable, I would suggest running a similar test before committing.

I've made one actual purchase on EGS and it did not go well.  Took 3 weeks and multiple support emails to get the correct season pass content included with Far Cry 5 gold.  $8 not well spent.

0 = 0

Similar. Tried to purchase Maneater when it came out. They had my region as India. Not because I had ever entered it as India, just because. When I tried to pay, they refused payment because of the mismatch in region and address. Five back and forth emails and still couldn't get them to change it and no one could tell me how it got set that way to begin with. Finally called and got someone to change it, but only after thirty minutes on hold and two disconnects as they tried to connect me to someone who could help.

I still dont own Maneater.

On top of that, I don't see how a UI could suck so bad and never be changed. I work in web dev and we have to temper our PMs from making more than one major UI revision a year. Does no one at Epic actually use their app?

Side notes:
  • The so-called "Ultimate Edition" DOESN'T include Expansion Pass.
  • To get all game "content" (i.e. all maps & races) - you'd need to buy both Standard & Expansion Pass; or buy both Ultimate & Expansion Pass.
  • "Ultimate Edition" has more cars, bonuses, currency, and other stuff...if you need more of that stuff.
  • Car Pass is $30 and not on sale alone, but this is bundled w/ the Ultimate Edition.
  • Car Pass has 42 new cars in it, if that matters to anyone...

This is ridiculous.

Thanks for breaking it down.

Car pass has 42 cars in it, are those the cars available separately in: Hoonigan, Porsche, Rockstar, Mountain Dew, Duracell, and Alpinestars?

I've never played a FH. I am most excited about the Hot Wheels content here. Can anyone speak to if the other stuff is worth it? I do tend to like racers. I platinumed NFS:MW and Burnout: Paradise and these look like that kind of fix. Happy to save $10 though, and just pick up Standard and Expansion if Ultimate content doesn't matter much.

#14313643 Forza Horizon 3 (Xbox One/PC Digital Code) $8.59 on CDKeys

Sounds like this is because the game is going to be delisted at the end of September.

Does anyone know if that means that I have to buy any DLC now or can I get the game now and then decide if I want DLC later?

This is a forum. Aren't there places to check deals without all the annoying discussion?

There is. Its https://psprices.com/region-us/index. Just check it every Wednesday and Saturday. They have a section for all recent drops. You can sort them in order of discount amounts and set reminders. They even do non-PSN prices so you don't have to check multiple threads.

Oh yeah, that happened to me with Assassin's Creed Odyssey: I played for a while and loved the exploration, but I just got really burned out. Sometimes these games are just too massive that it's easy to get side-tracked, forget what's going on, and then put the game down.

My husband almost finished Odyssey, but then they raised the level cap in their greedy attempt to sell EXP boosters, forcing him to grind to keep his preferred gear up to date, so he dropped it like a bad habit.

Literally was playing this ten minutes before reading your comment. I'm about 20 hours in and for the first 18 or so was really enjoying all the things to do. Hunting cultists and mercenaries, completing bases and eventually fighting the battles. Then, in the last two hours, I realized how little everything matters.

Once you claim some land for one side, the same stuff is still there to go back and claim it for the other side. All the places that were hostile to you before are still hostile.

Once you defeat a mercenary, you get some sort of unique looking gear that just has the same set of bonuses as another set.

Once you defeat a cultist, you get some sort of unique looking gear that just has the same bonuses as another set, unless you get the full set and then you get one additional bonus.

The cultists thing kills me because you start to realize you can't just hunt them. Some are tied to the story, so you may very well find the cultist, but you can't actually kill them.

The leveling stuff grates me too. Whats the point in leveling if all the enemies level as well? I'm level 25 and it still takes like 15 hits to kill an enemy because they're the same level as me.

At the end of the last play session, I zoomed out on the map to find what to do next. I saw how big the world is and its like "nope". Guess I won't be finishing this one. Its amazing how a game can make you feel like you are doing SOOOOO much, when you are basically doing nothing at all.

hooking up my composite PS2 to an HDMI 4k TV is pretty much impossible

This is actually really easy and can be inexpensive to fix. PS2 had component cable options, which two of the three 4K sets I have owned still had. If you don't have that, there are okay adapters for ~$30 and really nice ones thats will upscale just about any source for $60+. If you really enjoy playing your older consoles, the small investment in a nice upscaler can future proof your entire collection.

Don't want to get too off topic, but I don't think inflation means what most people think it means. The way BLS tracks inflation over time changes as the bucket of goods evolves. The really important thing for consumer decisions is relative price.

I'd say the reason why NBA2K21 is going to be $70 has more to do with their monopoly on the NBA license and less to do with inflation. They may trot out the inflation argument, but thats more because the public accepts it without understanding it. If inflation we're really the case, then all game prices would rise. However, in the games industry, supply has risen just as fast, if not faster than demand. You can see this in the fact that real prices for games have actually fallen over time.

IE If $70 for NBA 2K21 seems expensive to you, it probably, actually is.

Purchased Judgment for full price a few weeks ago, knowing there was a higher than 90% chance it would once again go on sale for half price. I played 2 hours.

You can still save on Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise. Its basically a Yakuza/Judgement game, but with more exploding heads and fewer hostess clubs.

#13586517 Humble Bundle Thread

Seems decent if you don't have anything other than stuff that was in earlier Ubi bundles like the China game and Ass I and II.

It seems incomplete, though. Aren't there about four games missing? Rogue? IV? Black Flag?

$4 for III+DLC, the other two Chronicles and Liberation doesn't seem terrible.

Its missing all the games that would make me want this.

Rogue, Black Flag, Revelations and Syndicate. I know including Syndicate would've been a stretch, but I would've bit at a $30 tier or something if it had included it.

I might have wanted III if it wasn't free on Ubi last month.

The selling points aside from Marie "we swear she's 18" Rose and Honoka was the updated soft engine. On PS4 that means jiggly butts and boobs, but the Vita only got jiggly boobs.

Would have been nice if there were two versions for Vita. I would much rather get the jiggly butt edition than the jiggly boobs edition...guess I'll just have to get a PS4 now.

I was really enjoying DT2 until I got to (one of?) the last dungeons and it was a convoluted mess. Fall down this hole walk over to those stairs now backtrack whoops you walked past the false wall no go up two floors and go over there to go down another level blah blah blah. That mixed with the every other step random encounter broke me. It's not like the battles were even that hard at that point (my gals were all mid 50s). They were just annoying.

Have you tried Demon Gaze? Im curious how you felt about their dungeon design.

I live close enough to the city where I end up in the city hunting for deals pretty frequently so I like to think I'm a part of that scene too. Also the LIRR is expensive but it's also a blessing. God I love those trains... Seriously though can we organize like a CAG meetup down at like 2 bits retro arcade or something. It'll be great until it turns out everyone's too cheap to drop $3.50 on a PBR  :wall:

That's a damn shame. Thanks for the update! Would have loved to have scored a $10 Gravity Rush

Refusing to pay  $3.50 on a PBR isn't being cheap, its being sane. I always imagine a CAG meetup would be BYOB and everyone would show up with those individually marked beers that are about to expire.
