I've not read anything about this, but do your characters seamlessly transfer between the two different consoles ( <--> or <--> )?

Yes. Whether you participate in this program or not, your Guardians, progress, stats, and gear are shared within a console family (PlayStation®3<->PlayStation®4 or Xbox 360<->Xbox One) and will be waiting for you when you transition to next-gen.

So, is it safe to assume that all of us who already have the Xbox One or PS4 versions pre-ordered digitally are out of luck now and won't be able to get the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions?

Do you HAVE to own the mat to be able to play it?

I don't see NBA 2K14 on the TRU ad, so does that mean it's already available in-stores?
