First Humble quits Game Bundles for D&D Bundles, now this. Next thing you know Casey will leave again to edit Chuck Tingle novels.

The title of this thread should be "My Coke Rewards is dead, long live Coke Rewards!"

Monster Hunter World is coming to Steam on August 9th.

  :whee:

Wow! I wasn't expecting this before November.

Yeah and you need an intel processor from 2014 or later by the min. system requirements.

I don't expect much from this port, so PS4 is always an option. It will probably always have a larger playerbase on PS4 anyway, and there's no crossplay on PC (another very bad sign for the quality of this port). Sales have been plummeting (along with Capcom's share prices), so I suspect heavy price cuts on console as well.

Hopefully they release a free weekend  (or at least the demo they released on console) so people can test out how it runs on their systems.

Right.  They're giving reasons for people to install the client beyond simply being what one single publisher requires for their own games.  Mix that with a built-in pool of potential users due to streaming and support from Amazon?

I don't think they're trying to sell games on it. They have the streaming and that's what they're focused on. I literally can't even figure out how to buy games on Twitch.

The point of offering free games seems to be to get people into the streaming side of their business, not to get them to buy more games through the client.

Of course, in the future they could decide to actually make game sales more feasible on the client, but they could have also done that years ago and they haven't. It seems clear they see their business model entirely in streaming, not as a competitor to Steam.

The streaming culture seems almost the polar opposite of the Steam culture: streamers usually focus on one game, they buy one game and then stream it for months or even years. Steam is the diametrical opposite: it tries to get you to buy thousands of games that you never play.

I'm not saying it will surpass Steam, but I could easily see it becoming the default second option most have installed as well.

I have Twitch installed because I have 34 free games installed on it. That's entirely the only reason. I've never bought a game from them, in part because I couldn't even figure out how to, and even when I watch streamers I don't do it in the client.

I have Origin, Uplay, and GOG installed basically for the same reason, I would never actually buy anything on them, but I have like four or five free games on each.

Epic and Battle.net I have installed because it's required.

$10 for bundle fodder?  wut?

Haven't you heard? Bundles are a thing of the past. We're living in a post-bundle world.

19 free games on Twitch Prime over the next couple weeks. Lots of previous bundle fodder, but some good stuff.

Spoiler

Was hoping for gyro aiming in Fortnite. Oh well. I'll stick to Splatoon.

How do people manage to learn how to aim with gyro? I tried for a few hours and don't feel like I was making any progress in proficiency.

F2P Hearthstone is an illusion. Realistically speaking you could spend $100 on an expansion and even if you focused on one deck and dusted everything else to get it at the end you'd have ... one deck. The game is realistically a $400+ a year game to remotely keep up with and enjoy multiple decks/build types and actually fully enjoy the game. It's a great game if you can afford it. But it's also just really good at making you feel like you're having fun doing F2P when the F2P aspects (Arena, Dungeon Run, Tavern Brawls) actually really lack depth compared to the constructed game.

I know, I always thought so too.  But I've also been waiting for that for well over a year.

One of my absolute favorite games, of 2016 or ever.

This isn't true though, you can just buy the console you most want. It's not "only have a pc" or "have a pc and every console ever invented"

pasports31, don't you understand: many classic PC games won't run on Windows 10. In order to get into PC gaming, you absolutely have to get a Commodore PET, 64, Amiga, Atari ST, TRS-80, An Apple II alone will run you thousands since it's a collectors item now. And you literally can't even start playing a single game until you own all of them. That's the entry cost of PC gaming.
