#13934987 Steam+ Deals Mega Thread (All PC Gaming Deals)

i don't get why people are posting about monster hunter in here. even the sports talk made more sense.

How on earth does talking about sports make more sense in a PC gaming thread than talking about an upcoming and highly anticipated PC game?

ps4/xbox threads exist for a reason!

Umm ... yeah ... and that reason is probably not to talk about upcoming PC games.

I wasn't inviting everyone to list their inscrutable and illegitimate reasons, I was just making someone who might be interested in the information aware of the likelihood the game might come to PS+ sometime soon.

Supposedly promo image for Dark Soul's II and Far Cry 4 on PS+ was leaked.

I think that's fantastic. Dark Soul's II is in my opinion very unfairly criticized. I'm glad I bought a physical copy of it and never purchased digital, it will be nice having digital as well so as not to have to swap disks.

"Most of the company works on product development"?  dubious.gif

The Steam client is a product. So is the Steam link, controller, Steam boxes and Steam OS, etc.

As are obviously CS:GO, Dota, and TF2, all with continuing support.

The fact that they get away with 300 employees to develop all those products is pretty crazy, it means pretty much every employee is a developer, with very horizontal management structure, basically no one working on stuff like marketing/strategy who aren't also developers, etc. And that's not mentioning all the projects they have going on at any given time that never make it to announcement (which is reportedly an enormous amount, although Valve is very secretive).

He is a troll, ignore him.

Am I the only one sitting back here thinking ... um ... of course the last week is the worst ... that's literally how it always is always has been and always will be, I thought everyone understood this is how life works ... when it's several weeks past Christmas the sales are going to slow down a wee bit ... not really a surprise or somehow an example of a "terribly run sale" blah blah.

I'm lost for words. Giving keys away then get told I cant ask for people to let other people know its claimed by them, In turn, leting people know the keys are legit.

You are appreciated! Posting keys can be tough though, people run bots on this site to snag up keys so *shrug*. Not your fault and woooooof, no need to get accused like that, my apologies for the community.

Where would you rank Bloodborne with the "Souls" games?  Great price on it, and it will probably fatigue me on games of that type for a while.  I guess a better question would be should I get this game or DS III?

Get Bloodborne.

Far from fatiguing people of Souls games, Bloodborne actually has had the effect for a lot of people I know of getting them into Souls even after disliking DS, DS and DS II. Bloodborne is a great introduction to the franchise for people who haven't liked previous Souls games, and has a very refreshing effect on those who loved previous Souls games but feel fatigued by them.

I think that answers your question better than an actual answer to your question. But as for the latter: I wouldn't personally rank the two at all myself, but usually it's generally agreed upon that people like Bloodborne more than DS III.

Bottom line for me is fun.

The F2P mechanics of smartphone games are just not fun. They are full of grinding, noticeably manipulative of habit-forming tendencies, and overall just unpleasant. Many of the mechanics are specifically about making the game such a grind to unlock something that the player will pay to AVOID playing the game: no one is going to pay specifically to avoid playing a game they enjoy, so such a feature could not exist unless the game is actually being made unpleasant to play.

1 TB? Isn't that like one season of 4K television, basically? And people are freaking out about net neutrality?

Data caps on a network make no sense. Network quality goes down not with quantity, but with congestion. All my devices are set to download large files overnight when the network has very little traffic and downloading doesn't do any harm to others. Yet network caps conform to Title II while all reasonable and actually effective ways to maintain health of a network don't ...

Which AAA first party games close down their servers a year after the game's release? When was the last time that happened? There isn't even online multiplayer, it's just online ranking system. I guess times are hard over at Sony. Pretty sad.

If anything, with its origin in a niche PS Vita game (not exactly a hit selling console in the US), and unique niche appeal, Gravity Rush 2 isn't just not a AAA game, it's literally the OPPOSITE of a AAA game: it's a niche game. Which is a compliment. The reason all AAA games feel like the same charmless crap is precisely because big budgets + risk averse publishers = focus grouped garbage. Gravity Rush 2 has the charm that you only get from a decidedly non-AAA title.

I'm sure it did just fine in Japan, but in the US it didn't appear on literally any sales list. It didn't even appear on the Top 20 downloads on PSN for the month it released. Even The Last Guardian outsold Gravity Rush 2 in January, a game that came out a month before and was hardly considered a big seller. Gravity Rush 2 sold abysmally.

I know of at least two other SIE games last year whose servers were shut down in UNDER a year. Neither of them were nearly anywhere as good as Gravity Rush 2, but all three were about equal in being abysmal sales failures, if anything Gravity Rush 2 is more likely to have lost money since Sony might have actually put some money behind it. I honestly can't get upset if they feel they can only support the servers for a year after taking a loss on this game. What other company is even willing to make games like Gravity Rush 2 and The Last Guardian in the first place?

I would absolutely recommend Titanfall 2 for the single player campaign alone. I'm sure it's going for no more than around $10 these days easy, it's well worth that for the campaign.
