#14191619 TurboGrafx-16 Mini Retro Console (Amazon Exclusive : Pre-orders start July 15th)

Posted by Sarang01 on 22 July 2019 - 04:17 PM

Said no one ever. The Turbografx-16 is huge and fugly compared to the PC Engine.

i couldn't agree more.  In my opinion if they kept the look the same as the Japanese version and released a great arcade port or two alongside the release(like R-Type) it would've really impressed people given the size and made them more likely to buy it.

Honestly I would argue amongst the Master System, Nintendo and PC Engine both the PC Engine and Master System look GREAT and compete lookswise for #1.  I don't consider the Nintendo or the Famicom close here.

As far as the Mini goes I may buy it but I'm looking at the Japanese one mainly for "Tokimeki Memorial"  as the exclusive and its fame especially given that this is the first release of it.  If Konami would include it on the TG16 Mini I'd consider buying it to show my support like you are.

#13987315 PSA: Amazon Prime going up to $119/yr starting May 11

Posted by Sarang01 on 28 April 2018 - 03:20 AM

As for the NF and PV argument, have to disagree, have only found 2 shows on Prime that are worth watching, where as the originals on NF are well worth the money, especially in summer when nothing is on.

Lets talk.  Overall I agree with you but I rank Amazon above Hulu easily but then I don't give a Fuck generally about what's on network TV unless it's in Korea or Japan.  The premium channels are exceptions.

For the Japanese Amazon Originals, look at some of what they've now unlocked to the English audience, specifically the Amazon Original stuff.  You're welcome.  I asked about, if they had WW rights, why they don't unlock them to compete with Netflix who has all their original shit available in all languages and they wondered why not.  This got bopped up and now those shows are available.

If you like Kamen Rider there's a new one now and it's called Amazon Riders but you know what it is.  Documental is good but only 4 episodes.  The vampire show could use a bigger budget.  The Kyoto Love story seems promising.  I'm looking at the Tokyo Alice show and a few others possibly.

For English/American shows, Goliath is good.  "Cooking Is Magic" is a kids show and actually high quality, comparable to what I watched when I was a kid.  As I'm sure you know the kid's shows today are shit and assume kids are idiots and will watch whatever.

You likely have seen  "Man In the High Castle".  The Dennis Quaid show seems solid.

All of this being said, I find more on Prime video than Hulu since those pricks gutted the Korean Drama offerings.  Four words for Hulu:  Fuck live TV streaming.  I'm not subsidizing that shit.  If Hulu kept Anime AND brought back Korean Drama's in a substantial amount I'd jump at it as a bargain.  Hulu needs to realize there service doesn't have enough compelling content like Netflix and hasn't had enough value like Amazon Prime did for a time which is why when it auto-renewed a couple of days ago I set it to go back to hold at the end of May for 3 months.  NOT worth it at $12 for no commercials.  Piss off Hulu.

All this being said, with Amazon Prime at $120 a year...Fuck you Amazon, I'm out.  I'm not funding a piece of shit organization like the NFL.  I HATED it when sports shit I don't watch burrowed an exorbitant amount of money for Satellite into the pocket for ESPN via forced carriage deals and I won't play that game here.  I don't hate sports but I'm not subsidizing that for sports nuts, you fucks can get gouged, I'm not letting you shake me down.

#13518630 NES Classic on Amazon at 2pm PST 11/11

Posted by Sarang01 on 11 November 2016 - 10:29 PM

Fuck you Amazon.  I called up and gave the Amazon customer service guy shit as I had the same problem as all of you, that it wouldn't even add to cart.  What bs.  I told him that it was fucked and he said they'd look into it and I said they're not going to fix it, just like before.

I asked him early to add it since maybe his part wasn't fucked and he gave me the OOS line.  I talked about remuneration since they wasted my fucking time, with the server being screwed and he gave me a line about price adjusting it if necessary down the road or something and I told him I was never going to need that shit with the NES Classic since everyone here knows the MSRP is $60 anyway.  Even asked for my number to call back about the Amazon issue and I gave it to him and said it was a waste of time as I know they'll do jack shit about it.

It works for me as a topping pally.  I seriously don't understand why I can find all sorts of other toppings but it's like some unspoken rule not to have carrots as an option.  It's quite weird imo.

#13439969 PSN Weekly Deals - 6/27: Huge Mid Year Sale & Sonic Sales! Too many d...

Posted by Sarang01 on 23 August 2016 - 06:16 PM

Riviera is specifically listed and sold through the PS Store on the side for PSTV compatible games under the Classics section.  I quick searched it and yes it's compatible and it had english voices.  I don't know if it has the original Japanese as an option.  I do own the game, but don't have it installed right now.

Downloaded Riviera and installed it to my Vita... upon starting the game it asks if you want English or Japanese voices and that the option couldn't be changed back and fourth in the middle of a game.  This happens even before anything else in the game.  Text is all English.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Commenting on that Capcom Humble Bundle on PS, has there EVER been a console related Humble Bundle before?!

edit:  Nice to see I followed Tanuki in post.

Anyway...anyone have an idea why the sales on both sides have been so flat?  So far the ONLY sales in general that have tended to pique my interests are the PSN Flash Sales.  After that, I keep seeing the same sales and sale numbers, it feels like PSN is spinning its wheels.

#13310744 Kansas City NBFM $200 GeOW Xbox One bundle, ends today!

Posted by Sarang01 on 30 April 2016 - 08:15 PM

The Kansas City Nebraska Furniture Mart is selling the 500 GB. Xbox One Gears bundle for $200 right now and it ends today.  Apparently the sale started on Thursday and I dropped by today to look for clearance stuff and it popped up.

Also, I posted it on the regional deals thread but I know most of you don't usually look there so I decided to re-post here for anyone around the area or who wants to pay shipping since these are new Xbox One's.  It's also the lowest price I've seen so far unless someone wants to correct me.

Why is this game getting so much acclaim? It's no better or worse than any of Telltale's games. I bought the first episode and liked it well enough and I'm considering buying the rest of the episides since it's on sale on XBL but I haven't even started Game of Thrones or Borderlands and still have to finish Wolf Among Us and Walking Dead S2. Those were all $5 to boot, so I think I might have just convinced myself to pass.

The people who made "Remember Me" made this.  Please apologize.

#13134041 XBL Deals - 2015

Posted by Sarang01 on 02 January 2016 - 04:49 AM

I've been spending today going through my 360 backlog. Yes, I said 360. After playing Pure this morning, I decided to plumb some of the hidden gems I already owned...and some that are the opposite of hidden gems. I picked several games to play today. Most were unopened.

Unreal Tournament III - Forget the single player mode. I could play this game all day in multiplayer with bots only. Never gets old to me.

Culcept Saga - Great cross between Monopoly and Magic: The Gathering, but I got my ass kicked by the computer on the first board. I will likely return to this one again before the end of the night. The matches last a long time though.

Timeshift - Was still sealed from a Sears clearance years ago. Remember when Sears sold video games? Pepperidge Farm remembers. But now, I realize why this game was so cheap. It's a scripted game that bills itself as being a first person shooter with time travel elements. It's so scripted that the game won't progress forward until certain conditions are met, yet the level design is so poor that it's at times so confusing to figure out where to go next that I just gave up. I got so frustrated that I never unlocked the time travel abilities. I might replay this on easy since the reviews mention all the cool things you can do like stopping time and dropping a grenade into a group of soldiers.

The others are as follows:

Earth Defense Force 2017
Monster Madness
Operation Darkness
Remember Me
Sega Rally Revo
Soldier of Fortune: Payback
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (to cleanse my palette)
Worms Collection

Speaking of "Culdcept Saga" I would love it as a BC title, especially considering I have doubts we'll see an XBONE version of Culdcept.  I would love to see UMVC3 but I don't know if the license no longer applying to Capcom would effect this status.  I would think if you bought it, digital or otherwise it would still be valid for BC.

#13123157 Rodea the Sky Soldier - Wii U - $36.20 - Amazon

Posted by Sarang01 on 26 December 2015 - 11:23 PM

It's Christmas. I'm an idealist. And I wanted to share this deal with as many people as I can. Sorry if my actions where offense to anyone in the CAG community. If this is how the community in CAG prefers users operate, I'll keep it in mind next time. I'm just a nub'. I've meet plenty of people IRL who are SDer's and I have had the pleasure of introducing to CAG.

This game has had a ridiculous protracted development cycle, and the fact that after only a month its almost 50%  off got me excited to share with as many people as possible. To anyone who does pick it up, enjoy what is as close to a Nights spinoff as you will get - made by the same creator (Yuji Naka).

Show some respect, address him as Naka-sama given the profile of games he worked on.

I will be buying another copy of this if it has the Wii copy...maybe one more.

p.s. Thanks for posting it to the (mostly) jerks that roll on SD.

Hmmm...$16 for Xenoverse and $2.50 for Gradius V. I think that's about all I'll be considering from the weekly sale.

Woah, $2.50 for Gradius V!  Don't walk, run to this deal.  Now I wish Jamestown was $0.10 less.

Your friend disgusts me.  How anyone can look at so many 2D games that look gorgeous, even if many are SD and call them a limitation is telling of his stupidity.

Let me guess, he also doesn't like hand drawn animation as well?  I love "The Wind Rises" but "Princess Kaguya" as well made my jaw drop so hard as well.  Different art style but still amazing.  I saw "Princess and the Frog" in theaters and bought it, loved it as it felt like the first American Disney fairy tale(even has a quick shot of a newspaper referencing Woodrow Wilson getting into office).

Jeez the newer generation(I'm on the tail end of the Millennial Generation and consider myself more a Generation X'er) and some of the older ones have no patience for the process and quality, it's produce, produce, produce and it shows in the product styling.  Using digital instead of film even though you can get much higher quality color shooting on 35 mm. if you can afford it(until I hear RED has reached color bit parity with film I don't want to hear a RED Camera is good enough).  Yes it takes longer to work with but the end product is better and it's cheaper to store.  The head of HBO Films mentioned this when asked why they still shoot on 16 mm.  The same goes for hand drawn vs. CGI, I'm sure it's cheaper and quicker.

I see this same crap with some popular music artists where the shit is phoned in, call it autotuned to death or whatever you wish.

Sometimes quality takes time and you need to breathe the Fuck out and let those muscles relax despite what society tells you.

I wish you could make your friend watch some "Galaxy Express 999" the series and maybe he'd get the idea that rushing blindly forward sometimes isn't the best idea.

Japan is one of the few companies I cut a bit of slack for with CGI animation because they're trying for full realism and to literally compete with Hollywood.  Japan doesn't have the luxury of affordable real estate to make into a giant studio lot and shoot there as well as on location with a big budget.

The problem is, the Polygons look horrible.
The models look plastic and fake, and closer to a high grade PS2... and even then they don't have the quality of say Tekken.

I love Sprites but the 3D work of 2.5d games like Street Fighter 4 and more recently Guilty Gear XRD Appeals to me.

While KoF XIV and SF5 do not.. the former looks just out dated and slow, the later looks like bad claymation.

See but my problem is being assaulted on all fronts in terms of wanting just any high-end HD sprite work and being told Fuck you basically.

I LOVED how KOFXIII looked.  You clearly knew it was spritework in HD and done well.

It's not just games either.  With the exception of the French people and a few Irish animators/directors, no one in the West seems to give a rats ass about hand drawn animation.  Even Miyazaki just gave up on the idea that it would continue, coming off as resigned to the Pixar virus taking over.

There's just this general pare down model to some industries and an arguable loss in quality to some.  For games, just because it's cheaper to do in 3D for high end doesn't mean it's the right artistic choice.  The same goes for animation to COMPUTER animation which to me seems to take some of the beauty out of it.  Lastly, sometimes the more labor intensive choice at first may actually cost less.  Compare using good puppetry and practical effects in general with a production using CGI primarily.  The cost for the practical effects may appear higher at first but when you start airing the film with CGI in HD it starts to look fake(having shine) and costs you substantially more than the former.

Jiryn why are you accepting this as a foregone conclusion?  We've seen too many games we like in 2D...Suikoden, Castlevania, to name a few, pushing 3D at us until they hit the wall due to some fickle people who think 3D is prettier.

edit:  Regarding FF7 I wouldn't have a problem with it being action based if those of us who are purists would be given a choice for turn based but that won't happen.  EnixSquare are the same assholes who never translated the original 2D FF3 for us to play, instead giving us a 3D version of it and a fugly one on top of that.

Ugh, 3D art style for KOFXIV?!  The last domino falls.  Please just stab me in the heart SNK.  Oh and Fuck anyone else who thinks I'm being dramatic.  I'm sick and tired of having 3D shoved down my throat in every genre.

I'm coming out of the closet....

and saying I LIKE sprites!!!!  I don't hate polygons but I love seeing sprites in HD glory.  Please SNK just offer a KS for a sprite based KOFXIV, I'm begging you!!!!!!!!  You were the last big holdout.  SF3 remastered would look gorgeous.  Sprites are beautiful.\

p.s. EnixSquare, Fuck you for completely dumping turn-based for FFVII.  That will make this easily a no-buy unless it's dirt cheap, even then I may buy it used out of spite.  What a week for the old school, talk about a nail in the coffin.
