Wow. I can't believe how many people are defending one of the most anti-consumer practices I have ever seen. Do you guys work for Amazon? Are they threatening your family? What is going on here? Hey, I like Amazon. I do. I have Prime. I haven't paid cash for anything on Amazon except for Prime since I got my account there due to their video game trade-ins. But this is a donkey punch to the nuts of every non-Prime customer and only fools or blind loyalists won't get mad at them for this.
If you are a prime customer what incentive do you have to be mad on behalf on non-prime customers? If you have prime, this change doesn't affect you.
And if you haven't realized the cost of shipping has gone up significantly in recent years, and that those costs have to be passed to the consumer in order to retain profits, then I don't know what to tell you. Not to mention they want people to subscribe to Prime, as it is in their best interest to have consumers associate with their brand and all that it offers. So increasing the minimum threshold for free shipping helps push their business strategy while recovering money on shipping costs from those who aren't likely to be the customers they most want to retain.
Also, are Sam's club and Costco anti-consumer? In order to take advantage of everything they have to offer, you have to pay a subscription membership each year. Guess anyone who didn't decry them when they opened their doors are fools and blind loyalists, huh?
It isn't like people who don't have prime have to keep shopping at Amazon if they don't like the cost increase. Every other purchasing option that was available prior to the shipping threshold rising is still available to them. Also, free shipping is still available, it isn't like it was removed entirely, now people just have to combine more to secure free shipping. Oh the horror!!!
Won't Amazon just stop to think how much the public welfare is being disturbed by them restricting their free shipping threshold even further? We probably need the government to step in and protect all the innocent consumers from this despicable practice. It's the most anti-consumer practice I've seen since Subway raising the price of their foot long from $5 to $6.
