You clearly misunderstood what I was talking about with nostalgia.  Obviously nostalgia is the sole reason for  A1up cabs and no one is arguing otherwise.

I wonder how anyone could have possibly misunderstood:

There is 0 nostalgia with A1up either.

Awe man, last I read you were worried about yours after seeing the pics of all the spotty foil art.  I'm curious too how bad were they?  Just the same foil art issues, crushing, or what?

Yeah, that's why I'm curious.   The foil was spotty on the "Star Wars" CEs and it seemed to impact all of the ones I saw on Ebay.  The "Empire Strikes Back" and "Shadows of the Empire" CEs seemed to be fine for me, though.

And I would be getting today's CEs if I didn't suspect they'd come out for the PC in the exact same configuration.  They don't need to change a thing about the contents other than the disc.

I have never been "that person" before, but maybe someone should create a thread for this AtGames Legends Arcade?  It's such an amazing deal, you'd think it would deserve it's own thread.

Some of you seem to miss a big draw for the Arcade1Up cabs or you get it and just don't care... which is fine.  For someone that does not care about the actual look of these replica cabs, there is no point to the Arcade1Ups beyond picking up a cheap one and modding.  I think this thread may have even started due to all of the clearance pricing for the first gen units.

That AtGames machine seems like a nice catch-all for anyone wanting to just dump ROMs they download off the internet.  Personally, I'm not looking to play console games on an arcade cab and most of the included games are junk, IMO, so the actual game count doesn't impress me much.   Granted, there are still more quality games than what is on an Arcade1Up with the highest game count.  But, even if I had the Legends machine which includes "Tron", if Aracde1Up released a "Tron" 3/4 scale replica, I'm buying it.

By the way, if anyone cares about the "Forgotten Anne" CE, I had asked on twitter about the dimensions/page count of the art book.  It's 5"x7" and 140 pages.   The art book is what really had me considering it.  I'm not really interested in the rest of the contents and am not looking for another large-ish box on the shelf (although, I have a feeling it is going to be smaller than it looks).   A little 5"x7" art book is a tough sell.   I think that is even smaller than the art books included with the NIS CEs.  Still debating it, but I will be surprised if I can convince myself to pull the trigger.

In my list, there are no pros for this specific release.  I love point and click games including the LucasArts classics, but I have no use for one of the worst ports of this specific game as I'd never play (no plans to ever buy a sega cd) let alone display it (the long box is UGLY).  The CE is overpriced for mostly paper products.

For those that want this... cool, glad you are happy with the release.  If I were to replay it I'd probably just use scummvm and probably just do it on the SNES classic or PC.

When they announced these LucasArts re-releases, I was pretty excited mainly for a nice premium version of the Monkey Island games.  This sure isn't what I was expecting.   For me, I would have been happy with a higher quality reissue of the original PC boxed release.  Straight up throwing in the same stuff as the Star Wars releases, though, AND going with the Sega CD version?   I don't know why I didn't see it coming.  I really thought these releases were targeting nostalgia, yet they sacrifice most of what makes up said nostalgia.  Some screenshots/artwork on the back of these cases wouldn't hurt, for sure.

"The Secret of Monkey Island" is one of my favorite games ever so it is tough to pass up anything Monkey Island related....  A PC version is coming out later in the year.  I wonder if there is any chance their PC releases will follow a different design.  The "Thimbleweed Park" CE design (which came from FanGamer, I believe) is more along the lines of what I was hoping for with these...

Just looked at the Star Wars CEs on Ebay.  Wow.  That's the one that even sold out relatively quickly.  Many auctions are going for well under what anyone would have paid direct from LRG.   One ended at $32.99 with free shipping.

Look at how dead this thread is today.  I think 1-2 years ago, "Forgotten Anne" would have been a major release and that CE would have been an instant sell-out.  I am even considering the CE (it has an artbook and soundtrack, but, unfortunately, it has other crap that must be used to justify the price, but doesn't), forgot about it, saw it was 10:39AM and briefly thought "Crap!  Now I'm going to have to try again at 6PM!"

Then I remembered it was 2020.

I got the Star Wars NES CE today.  I was a little disappointed to see black spots in the foil areas, mainly because there were a couple in the actual title.  Normally minor, but given the price it would have been nice to not have black dots blemishing the title.  I did enter a support ticket, but probably didn't need to bother - I checked out some pics on Ebay and I may be one of the lucky ones, since I've seen others in worse shape.  I haven't seen any pics of the NES version that didn't have an issue.

First time I didn't get a trading card since those started (and these do come with them, normally).

Not mine, but this one has a pretty bad spine logo....

Figures. I kept procrastinating and saw an article earlier that said orders needed to be placed by today in order to get it by March 1st. But Fuck that shipping cost, especially since they haven't even sold a third of them.

Yep, I did the exact same thing.  I guess I figured I'd wait until the last minute so they'd hold my money for a shorter period of time.  Maybe FedEx jacked up rates.

I contacted them and that was pretty much their rationale - the shipping charge increased because the rates increased.   I guess I'll see if they ever reduce the cost to make up for the difference.  I did see they have offered discounts/coupon codes on their Marvel exclusive in the past, so I would bet the same thing happens with this BurgerTime cab unless sales pick up.

Wait, the shipping for the Burger Time cab is $60? I thought they charged $40-45?

They did.  I had it sitting in my cart and went to checkout today, then saw the shipping cost jump up $13.  It was $44 a day or two ago and today it was almost $57.  That is where my checkout process ended.  I don't know if I would've bought it with a $57 shipping cost, but I sure won't do it when I could have had it at $44.  I'll wait and see if the cost ever goes down.   I doubt they will ever sell them all.    As of now, they've sold 885 (at most) out of the 3075.

Kind of shady when they post that well into the preorder window. Better off waiting until the last minute for all of them.

Yep.  Glad I didn't place the order yet.  I don't think I'll order any more Switch games through LRG until I hear Best Buy is done.  I still don't get why Best Buy is taking them.  Sometimes I wonder if anyone else has ever bought an indie Switch title at my closest Best Buy.

The BurgerTime cab is an Arcade1Up website exclusive with a run of 3,000.  While I'm sure that is going to be plenty, I am guessing we won't be seeing any clearance pricing on it.

$40 for 2 remastered games and a sweet looking steelbook is a great deal. LRG wouldve charged at least $60. they would add a soundtrack, folded poster and some garbage sticker / cards to make it $80.

You forgot the enamel pin!

I don't think any have sold out period.  Golf Story was delisted from the website, but is still available in stores and Aegis Defenders was store only for a few weeks before it showed up on the website.

I'm not even sure if anyone buys them.  My closest Best Buy seems to have so many copies of "Celeste".  I think they got 2 copies of "Aegis Defenders".  I bought one and the other is sitting on the shelf - they actually put everything they had on the shelves a little before Black Friday.  When Best Buy receives a small number of copies, it seems to be way more than enough.  I am surprised they are still doing it.  But, remember - they COULD choose NOT to move forward, so wait at your own risk!   Best Buy has yet to choose not to move forward, but I guess it could happen one day.
