How do people have time to play the bad games like Godfall while I can't even make it through my backlog of good games across all systems. Is there some hyperbolic time chamber I don't know about? I don't even care about achievements or trophies...just beating the base campaigns.

Because the game is totally fine, I put about 50 hours into it and enjoyed most of the experience. People have different tastes in things, I could make the same dumb comment about anyone who bought Far Cry 6 or is going to play Halo soon or insert whatever game you want here.

As someone who actually did do everything in Godfall (before the expansion, haven't bought it yet) this is weird. Because yes, the actual story is very boring and it's one of those games where it doesn't feel like the game begins until endgame. But what makes it weird is that it's not like you're not going to be doing the story content. Dreamstones (one of the included endgame activities) is literally just a high/max level version of the story missions, just without the actual story. You play through every single mission but there are modifiers and such to shake up the experience each run, if you've played any loot game ever you know exactly the kind of stuff I am talking about.

So content-wise you appear to be getting the full game with all the levels and bosses and such, you're just not getting all the cutscenes and dialogue.

I don't get it. Usually when a game gets chopped up they give you the boring intro stuff and ask you to pay for the rest, not the complete opposite of that.

Maxing bond skills was a pretty dumb grind. I ended up just farming the Raja Naga side boss on Merciless to get it done.

Also yeah, Zenkichi was actually my favorite part of the game. His persona awakening scene is honestly one of my favorites in the whole series.

Took me a second to figure out what SO6 was (Star Ocean 6).  Looking at the trailer, I'd be down to play that.   I love open world exploration.  If it weren't just PS4 & 5 I'd put it on my radar.   For now I'll keep it in mind if/when I venture back onto the PS platforms.

It's on Xbox and Steam as well, though I am assuming you'd be more interested in a Switch port?

I am actually a bit surprised they're not trying to put it on Switch, it's not exactly the best looking game ever or anything. Feels like one they could actually get running on the console if they wanted.

Wow, I opened a chat with Gamestop CS and explained that my Lost Judgment GameCoin offer hadn't appeared despite picking it up in-store on 9/24, then the rep issued 10k PowerUp points for the trouble. That was shockingly easy and helpful, plus these won't expire as quickly as the GameCoin would have!

Decided to try my luck talking to chat and the guy didn't say anything for like 20 minutes then came back and specifically said that I would have my game coin and 1200 points I did not get very soon. Just checked my account and they gave me 22400 points.

I don't even understand lol, but I will take it.

Gotta say I am enjoying Tales of Arise a lot more than I thought I would based on the demo. I mean it was fine, just felt like another modern era Tales game but in retrospect the demo really sucked. They leave out some of the combat tutorials, ones I think are kind of important personally. And I don't think many (if any) of the skills from the skill tree are active so you didn't get access to really basic things like air dodges and the skills that let you actively recover your arte gauge (perfect dodging, landing crits, etc.)

If anybody else runs across games in this sale that are in their wishlist or infrequently on sale, please share!

I guess this is a good time to mention Jazzpunk then. Mainly because of the infrequent thing, according to psprices this is the first time it's been on sale since January 2020.

Fun game if you're into dumb comedy. I played it on PC ages ago through steam share but think I am gonna grab it here since it's so cheap and I've been wanting to replay it.

Yeah I don't think scaret nexus did that well.  It definitely felt like a budget god eater type game too.

Bandai said in their financial report earlier this month that the game had a strong start and they plan to continue the IP.

I mean it's pretty obvious the game had a small budget so I can't imagine they had to sell a whole lot to actually turn a profit on it.

Neo TWEWY update... just finished week 2.. and I have to say... gosh damn this game is amazing.

Worst part of the game for me is that the combat is too much fun lmao. I hit like level 70 on week 2 and just had to force myself to stop and finish the story. I was mastering every pin I found and always going for as big of battle chains as I could form which is really time consuming.

Glad I did though, week 3 is absolutely awesome. I love the final day a lot, really brings everything together in a satisfying way.

The game has secret endings apparently, though I don't think I will get to them anytime soon since Hades is coming to PS4/5 this week and I've been looking forward to that.

I actually did manage to get $10 back from my instore TWEWY pre-order, felt very ymmv though. I showed the manager (at least I think she is the manager) at my store the website price and she told me she would just manualy overwrite the $60 when I picked the game up. Was surprisingly cool and easy.

Ended up just throwing the $10 at a Lost Judgment pre-order. It and Tales of Arise (and some other crap I forget) are part of some promotion that gives you a $10 coupon if you pre-order.

I like P5 Palaces on paper but they bring the whole experience down with the constant interruptions to explain what is going on. When I come to a locked door in a dungeon I don't want a 5 minute cutscene where the characters talk through the exact process of what I need to do and where I need to go to unlock it, and then when you find the key/password/whatever another few minutes of them talking about how I need to go back to that place I was at 10 minutes ago.

I actually hope they stick with handcrafted dungeons going forward (with something like mementos on the side for random exploration) but please just let me progress through them at my own pace and figure out how to overcome puzzles/obstacles on my own.

The PS5 upgrade is ONLY available if you buy the $20 expansion, too. This is the same greedy route that Square went with FFVII remake.

Huh? The PS5 upgrade of FF7R is completely free as long as you have a non-PS+ version of the game. All you have to do with FF is buy the expansion, which is totally fair considering it's a whole new thing.

That isn't what Ghost is doing, wish it was though. I have no problem paying for the dlc, but not interested in paying for a PS5 upgrade.

It's kinda hard to say since you can't see your entire skill tree in the demo but it doesn't seem like a game that is going to have a bunch of combos or anything like that. The focus seems more on meter and throw management since they allow you to extend a combo infinitely.

The game does not really explain it at all but when you throw you reset your combo, including the triangle/Y attack which builds a bunch of meter. It doesn't matter too much on the ground but what they also don't tell you that you can do all that in the air as well. Once you get the hang of it you can do infinite air combos. And if you're in an area with a lot of throwable objects you can basically machine gun them in the air as there is a skill where you generate more meter with aerial attacks.

So far my experience with the demo is that it's one of those games where the more aggressive you play the safer you generally are. After playing through it a few times I don't even bother with dodging outside of the boss or if I want to reposition. Better off just locking an enemy into a combo until they're dead. Few enemies you can't do that too but in the demo at least you don't run into them much.

Those box enemies are an example of that, dunno what you can do other then just charge up the stealth attack all the way and then finish them off when they're stunned. Though tbh I haven't played the female character that much as I prefer the moveset of the male character. He doesn't encounter them so not sure if there is some other trick.

Has anyone heard if the Scarlet Nexus demo is coming to PC? I have a PC-only friend who really enjoyed Code Vein who’d probably be interested.

Last I saw they haven't said anything, the trailer they made for the demo only had dates for Xbox and PS (as Xbox got it a week early, so dates were different.)

Those games are pretty different though unless your friend just enjoys the anime aesthetic. Scarlet Nexus is a more traditional action game, launcher/air combos, perfect dodge mechanics, really interesting and obtuse technical things that aren't explained at all. The usual stuff.

I already had it preordered anyway, but the demo really surprised me in a good way. Looking forward to the full game.

P5 Strikers is fantastic but if you want a more traditional musou experience it's not great for that. Very much a Persona game first with lots and lots of dialogue/cutscenes and even when you're exploring dungeons most battles are over in a couple of seconds as long as you ambush the enemy. The big hundred+ enemy fights are only at specific story beats. Kinda the same deal with the Attack on Titan games, the second one is my personal favorite musou but it's not really traditional either as the combat is very different.
