#14378334 Nintendo eShop Deals - 2/11: Capcom/Namco/Ubisoft Sales! $20 Hades,...

I have a bad feeling Ninja Gaiden Collection will come with hefty downloads >_<

Was my first thought as well. It's coming to every platform though, thankfully. I was actually more worried about the resolution then anything, I assume they want the game to stay at 60 FPS even on the Switch so I figure the resolution might take a hit.

Nioh 1 & 2 are certainly not games that I would complain about lack of content...

Yeah, both games are pretty insane bang for your buck. It's actually why I never got around to playing the dlc, the Nioh 1 plat trophy took me about 110 hours and the plat doesn't even require really doing any endgame stuff, you have to do like 1 mission on the first NG+ difficulty iirc but that is it. Just wanted to move on to something else after I finished that even though Nioh hard modes are the kind I really like where they actually add new mechanics, alter enemy behavior, and change up enemy placement in the levels.

Probably going to do a lot more in Nioh 2 though. I absolutely love the tonfas so much (didn't have them in the first game since I didn't have the dlc) and I just want to keep going with them. Plus I enjoy the faster combat speed the game has thanks to the yokai abilities giving you things to do in what would be down time in the first game.

#14374011 Walmart YMMV In Store Clearance Thread I (READ THE FAQs)

Posted by Zenax[zd] on 28 January 2021 - 08:57 PM

im not surprised.  every store i go to almost never change the video game price tags instore so unless you know the deal before hand or you manually scan the game through the glass, then most will never know of the changes.

Yep, every store I personally go to is like this. Tags are rarely up to date, and a lot of games won't even have a price tag. There is a whole freaking row in the PS4 case at my local store that just has games with no tag at all. Only people really on the lookout for deals even know about most of these price drops.

Though I don't mind really lol, makes it easier to buy games a lot of the time.

Looking forward to playing Nioh 2 myself. Bought the game at launch because I had some credit I needed to burn but didn't start it since I was playing the first game at the time and didn't want to burn myself out or anything. Been really wanting to play it lately but since there is some sort of upgrade path for PS5 if you own the game I decided to wait it out.

Man, people on Reddit are really flipping out over the Gold increase. Guess I thought more people were already on GPU.

The numbers are mostly out there, it's very obvious this isn't the case. The last revealed GPU numbers were 15 mil subs, probably higher by now but that is the number we have. That sounds like a lot but in the grand scheme of things it's just a drop in the bucket because there are at least 50 mil Xbox Ones out there (MS hasn't given numbers in years, so it's likely much higher) and that number is including all subs even PC users who don't have an Xbox.

The overwhelming majority of people playing on Xbox don't have the service. Obviously something MS wants to change considering they're going all in on it. Personally I think this change is just going to backfire on them.

I'm going to wait for a sale on Scott Pilgrim.  Honestly, the gameplay isn't that great - especially compared to the newer games that have been released since then like SOR4 and River City Girls.

Yeah, people might not remember but the PS3 version was actually given away on PS+ back in the day. When there was buzz about the game coming back I went and redownloaded it and played a little. I remembered very quickly why I didn't play very much of the game back then. It's not bad or anything but the gameplay feels very basic and it's especially noticeable these days after playing SOR4.

Will probably just wait until it's pretty cheap before I get it.

I believe that was correct the last time too.

Just a friendly FYI/PSA, it says no 360 each time but it's never accurate so far. First thing I do each one of these is turn on my 360 and load up a game that is not BC. Every time, including this one, I've gotten an achievement on the game and the points have counted. I always test cause I usually play through a CoD game in my backlog each one of these since just going through the campaign in most of them is an easy 500-600 points.

Maneater is one of those games I've kinda wanted to try but would never spend money on, so the perfect PS+ kind of game for me. Always looked like silly fun.

Well, being a Cheap-Ass does not require physical media. It just requires sweet sales and low prices.

Yeah but digital prices suck. Outside of a few specific edge cases I simply buy my games where they are cheaper. I've barely bought any digital games the past couple of years and all but 1 of those are games that are digital only (not including LRG releases and companies that do similar things.) On PC you don't have much of a choice but even there I've seen PC games pop up in the walmart clearance thread that I am pretty sure have never been that cheap on digital platforms, such as $1 Jedi Fallen Order.

But if you're playing on console especially and you really want to be a cheap ass you can't go digital only. That applies to niche Japanese games as well. I've bought quite a few musous over the last year and a half thanks to physical copies because they sure as heck don't get cheap digitally. Like god, the original Dragon Quest Heroes came out in 2015 and it's never gone under $20 on PSN. I bought it for $5 on disc.

I try to stick to 50% or higher discounts for stuff on my wishlist, but $9.74 (35% off) for Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 is getting hard to resist.

The original is also on sale for $4.99, I never got around to playing it so at that price seems like a no brainer. Been on a Castlevania binge this year so I really want to play these as well.

Honestly there are like 6 games from my wishlist on sale which is way more then usual so this sale is pretty good as far as I am concerned.

The fact they're straight up delisting it is actually kind of crazy, has anything like that ever happened before with such a high profile game?

Not that I don't think they should, it's just honestly shocking.

There are a ton of legitimate reasons to give LRG shit, but I don't feel like this is one of them. A lot of higher profile non-AAA games like this have been releasing first on Switch and then later on other consoles. Brigandine is another recent example and it's happened multiple times with Devolver's games. More than likely it's some behind-the-scenes limited exclusivity shenanigans with Nintendo that filters through to physical releases as well.

Yeah, could be any number of reasons really but it's absolutely a trend going on for the past year at least. It's why I haven't bought Hades yet despite really wanting it. I expect it'll be out on PS4/5 and maybe Xbox at some point sooner rather then later.

Also the Ghosts 'n Goblins remake announced last night is another game that right now is only announced for Switch but according to the Capcom leaks it'll be on the other consoles a few months later.

I kinda liked getting the Steam code for SoR4. I had no interest in it, so I sold it for $10 or so.

In the case of W101 you were actually able to sell the game at a profit because the keys were given before the game officially launched so it was a way to play a week early if you didn't back the project, made it a pretty hot item.

That took the sting out of it a little but my problem is just that they had this big huge apology post and their solution was that they'd give people a steam key and when people brought up the fact they couldn't even use it due to a lack of PC and such PGs response was basically "too bad" worded in the nicest way possible. Kinda hard to buy that they're actually sorry when their actions don't really convey it.

The SOR4 debacle particularily got me. I bought a PS4 version of the game and spent basically 200 dollars on it. Why did I get a steam code? Why did I not get a PS4 code?

The same thing happened with the Wonderful 101 kickstarter. People on the backer page said that devs/publishers can generate infinite Steam keys for free but on consoles they have to pay a fee to generate keys and I think maybe they have to order a specific amount of them, can't recall the exact details. Basically it's a way for them to add "value" to their apology with no cost from their pocket, aka the most greedy option available.

Personally if that is the case I consider it more insulting then if they'd just apologized and offered nothing. Like offering a code for a different platform because it's free is basically someone dangling keys in front of me hoping I won't notice what is going on behind them. If they actually truly for real felt bad about the situation they'd go through the trouble of getting people a key for the platform they ordered the game on.

Never tried any of the Saga games, though it always seemed like a series I'd enjoy. I'm guessing like FF, they aren't related, so anyone have any suggestions on which one to play if you could only choose one? Romancing 3 is on sale on PS4 right now, so I was eyeing that, but this remaster looks appealing too.

I've played almost every SaGa game that has been officially localized and Romancing 3 is the first one I actually beat. In my opinion it is the most newbie friendly because they ease you into the craziness much slower then most of the other games in the series. But that said do not go into any of these games expecting a normal JRPG. The SaGa series is very much the video game equivalent of being thrown into the deep end of the pool when you're 4 years old.

After you get done with the story introduction in each game they generally tell you what your main objective is to beat the game and that is it. You are on your own from that point on. They explain nothing else; not where you need to go to achieve that goal, not how any of the character progression mechanics work, and not how any of the battle mechanics work. You have to just wander and experiment to figure stuff out. I absolutely love the series myself and Frontier is my favorite actually (despite never finishing it as a kid) but it's really not a series I'd recommend to most people. Only buy one if you actually enjoy the idea of just being thrown into a game and being told to figure it out on your own.

As for why they're bringing this game back and not other, bigger games (since a few people commented on it) it's cause we're in the middle of a SaGa resurgence. This will actually be the 7th SaGa game brought to modern consoles in the span of around 3 years. We've had Romancing 2, 3, and Scarlet Grace and then next month the original trilogy (which were gameboy titles) are coming out on Switch. The games are niche obviously but the series producer said Romancing 2 (which was the first one ported to modern consoles) sold way better then they expected, especially outside of Japan where the series has never been popular at all. So they've just been bringing all of them over finally.
