Yeah, FF7 gameplay is a hard pass for me. That boss battle demo was horrible. I didn't mind long boss battles in a JRPG because it's about moves, but I don't want to have to be micro managing meters while dodging and switching characters for 20 minutes at a time. It's all meant to look really cool, but looks a tedious nightmare to manage.
At least they got Tifa's look down perfectly.

Nah, I'll watch you complain about Sony not stopping Disney and Nickelodeon instead, because that's totally not a false equivalence.
Not stopping Disney? I'm saying that our societal outrage over sexuality is full of obscene double standards. The entirety of our popular culture is so ingrained with violence that we can elevate things like Mortal Kombat and The Last of Us as a proper representation for video games but anything that deviates from a puritan approach to sexuality is looked down upon immediately. We groom our children with suggestive programming, outrageous pop icons, and sexualized preteen social media influencers and still chastise niche creators for not adhering to our preposterous entertainment standards. It's an incredibly slippery slope that I don't want anyone to take part in.

Death Stranding gameplay looks like shit. How is that already coming out in November? Looks like it needs a lot more dev time. Cutscenes and character design all look incredible, but the parts where you're actually in control seem awful.

I suppose I don't understand the sheer hatred. If you need a pspro it's a good deal because it's free, I guess I can't find it in myself to complain about something I'm not paying for.
I mean I get it, it's the cool thing to do to hate the ps classic because everyone else is doing it. But mine still did its job, it itched my playstation nostalgia itch. I wish it had some better games but it still wasn't that bad to me. Besides everytime someone has to rag on it for no reason at all it decreases the chances Sony will learn from their mistakes and release another one with better games and increases the chances they won't ever attempt it again.
But i guess this is the internet after all and getting a cheap sense of self satisfaction at jumping on a hate bandwagon for a bunch of random people online is par for the course.
Can you tell Sony to stop censoring games and stop making shitty movie games next time you're at the shareholders meeting?

I like all the new animations and stuff, but it's still too long of a game to go back to for marginal improvements. The game already gives you so many different ways to be stupidly overpowered, what QOL changes could they possibly add to make it feel new?
If the P5S announcement tomorrow is just a vanilla serving of P5 for Switch, then that's an even harder pass for me. Just give us all the Kawakami VR experience we're aching for and be done with it.

I'd like Skyward Sword on the Switch. I never played it and I can't go back to Wii graphics.
Graphically, the game holds up well enough. The actual game part of it is where it has all the appeal of a dried out turd.
I'm glad P5 is gonna be on the Switch, but if it's not the Royale version with cheese, then I probably won't double dip.

For those that missed out on the P3D/P5D Vita deluxe edition w/4CD sale at Play-Asia last month, Amazon Japan has the set for 4196 yen (shipped by Amazon Japan).
Bought it on 3/15 for 3519 yen and it arrived today - very nice set. Comes with DLC in the package and additional DLC from Amazon Japan via email.
I spent more money at Amazon Japan this year than I have at Amazon US. Lol
Thanks a bunch. Been waiting on the deep discount on this. Plus it's the only way to get physical copies of the Vita version.
I'm not one of those OMGSTEELBOOK people, but that is seriously one gorgeous case. Might pre-order just until I know for sure if it's not localized by California.

It looks interesting, and despite my avatar, I am just absolutely fucking sick of these games already. I'll probably play it some day after Black Friday, but I just can't force myself into yet another fucking Fromsoft game. Enough's enough.

yay defeated lucifer. Almost done with smt 4 I hope. Put over 100 hours into it and I want it to be over by now. maybe next year I will play p5 but certainly not for a long time. I play 1 smt/persona/atlus title a year because of how tiring they can be.
Surprised you made it that far. Couldn't make it past 20 or 30 hours after losing total interest. It's not a terrible game, it's just not a very engaging one. I hear Apocalypse is way better, but I never tried it. If you ever get around to playing P5 it'll at least be a more relaxing experience. There's no real frustration to be found outside of some particularly tedious late-game dungeon mechanics.
Nocturne is a high point for the PS2-era of Atlus games. Digital Devil Saga is probably still my favorite of the bunch.

So after over a year I finally went back to give Xenoblade 2 another chance.
I'm about 60 hours in, and only just started Chapter 5, and have loved just about everything I've gone through. My current gripes with the game are still essentially the same as they were when I first played and hated the game. The combat, while fun when you've got full team synergy, can still feel a little like a grind at times. Positioning is almost never an issue because of the clear aggro markers, but what does kill the combat at times is the terrible terrain placement for certain enemies. One fight in particular I was fighting a large enemy near a tree, but after fighting it for a good 10 minutes the enemy's attacks starting separating the team because of the tree's roots and the further they strayed from the enemy, the more they invited all nearby enemies to the fight that wiped us all out. The opposite is also true, which makes certain fights totally anticlimactic. I ran into some unique enemy on a fucking catwalk under a bridge, and a knockdown moved pushed him off, and that was the end of that fight not two seconds after the music started and gone was the loot they dropped as well.
The technical limitations of the game/hardware is what really drag down the experience at the worst times. One particular story fight has you fighting a group of enemy drivers and blades in a crowded town, so the fights went from the usual 30ish FPS to 10 and below. The only net positive in this scenario is that it makes the button prompts during combos unmissable. The driver+blade mechanic is really fun and unique, but it's moments like this where you can tell they never once thought about how it was going to work reliably in-game.
I've been enjoying the story for the most part. It's typical JRPG/anime tropes endlessly, but the characters carry it well beyond that with some great performances throughout (JP audio obviously). It's only when things get way too silly and anime that I find myself cringing a bit at the chuuni shit, but at least it's always fun. I still hate Rex's terrible character design. I get the whole boy versus the scary world thing, but he looks like such a stupid asshole and I hate looking at his dumbass face. It's sad, because they've developed his personality really well and is actually the most mature person in the entire game, but again, that stupid fucking FACE.
So yeah, awesome game. I'm sorry I didn't give you a proper chance last year. Looking forward to beating it, and playing the DLC.
