I sold the sh@t out of my backlog last year, couldn't be happier. I look at cheapassgaming an getting the games I want to play for as low price as possible and Im better now at judging wether I will play a game or not, due to time constraints. I have no backlog at the moment. However I recently got a pistol permit, and Im now collecting pistols which is a whole new level of expense.
I'm with you, I took a hard look at my stuff and either started playing the stuff I truly wanted to play and sold everything else. I love games, but the idea of keeping them in a "collection" makes less sense to me for everything that isn't a true favorite. I don't have the time to randomly play 10-20+ hour games that aren't truly special to me. I have shrunk from well over 120 games to more like 70, and downsized from all current and last gen consoles to just PS4/X1/PC (still own my big 3 last gens).
Although all these damn PS2 collections are just so daunting. I finally beat Kingdom Hearts 1.5 (skipping the Chain of Memories after reading the story) though!
