#13830264 Destiny 2 *Official* CAG Thread - Farmhands Wanted

Is anyone else in here part of the Xbox Insider program, Alpha Ring?  I've been having intermittent troubles playing the game and the game thinks that I am losing connectivity to the internet (which I'm not) so it kicks me out to the title screen.

I'm in the Insider alpha ring.  No such problems here.

I finished the night at level 14/144.  I feel like I'm progressing pretty well and having a good time. Next up, IO (the moon, not the CAG).

I was at Target and picked up a box of D2 themed Pop Tarts.  So, this gives us a Sparrow (cool) and, if I'm reading this right, a single mote of light?  Really?  This "XP Boost" is a single mote?  If motes still work the same, that's kind of weak.

Listening to Byf's D1 "Complete Story" lore video right now and it's pretty good.  I thought about forwarding the link to a friend who never got that deep into D1, but this might just intimidate him rather than get him excited for D2.

Wow, raid comes out just a week after launch:

I'm not too terribly excited about that.  I kind of wanted to take it a little slower this time around .

Totally agree with you, io.  During the second year of Destiny, I constantly felt like I was under pressure to "keep up" and it got...unhealthy.  I was looking forward to having a month or two to just plug away at my own pace without feeling like I was in a race to get to max light right away.

They really need to nerf those spinning orb enemies in campaign. I get that it's a boss, but that orb has 10x as much HP as any other enemy, and you have to kill it 3-4 times to beat the boss.

I encountered one of those in the campaign for the first time the other night.  At first I thought, "Hey, cool, I saw this in MP.  Just shoot the orb."  10 minutes later I was bored.   Those things do have too much health and it just became a game of run to the other side of the room, snipe the orb, hit the kett floater with a combo, relocate and repeat.  It just dragged on forever.

If you haven't been upgrading their skills, you should.  Check on their skills and make sure they've been upgraded.    Also, if you have Pathfinder weapons you won't use, give what you're not using to squadmates.

Okay, I feel outright stupid because I have put 10 hours or so into the game and for the  life of me, I cannot figure out how to equip specific weapons on my squadmates.  I can update skill trees, but I do not know how to change their weapons.  Until I read this, I had given up and assumed that their weapons must just be standard like their outfits.

Is it Tuesday yet?  No?

[Sigh]

After seeing days of people screaming "Broken game!" over the facial animations, I think the cooler heads on the internet are starting to prevail (I know..."cooler heads" and "internet" don't really go together).  This morning I read a couple good summations of the situation that put things in perspective.  Talking to people who have actually played the trial over the past few days has me very excited.  The game sounds like the Mass Effect I know and love.  However, I had so much fun with the MP last time around, I'm worried that if I step into it too soon I will get distracted and forget to play the SP campaign.

So excited.  it will be so good for Mass Effect to be a thing in my daily life for the next 3-6 months.

Alright, even though I have lost count of how many times I have played ME2, I've been working my way through it again in preparation for Andromeda.  I'm not too the end yet, but I am getting close and thinking about the finale and once again, I have to question:  Why a giant humanoid reaper?  After all this time, it doesn't make any sense and the inclusion is pretty jarring.  What did the Collectors/Reapers think they were doing?  I feel like Bioware was setting up something specific and then the idea was abandoned prior to Mass Effect 3 because the idea of giant humanoid reapers breast-stroking their way through space did not fit the tone they were looking for.  The whole scene was just...off.  It's the one "Huh?" moment in an otherwise perfect sequel.

Currently replaying ME2 for what must be the 7th or 8th time.  I recently acquired Samara and after all this time, I still can't see a real use for her.  "maintain the bubble" is about her only real use.  On paper, she seems BA, but in execution she's just kind of there.

But the game continues to surprise me.  The other day, I heard a line from Garrus that was new to me and is one of my new favorite quotes. This is the one:

Custom paint jobs for my Nomad?  I don't know why, but I got really excited over that bit.  I think I'm going to love the Tempest.

I wanted to see what the re-worked Boolean Gemini and NT2E felt like, so I tried both out on patrol, in the crucible, and in the KF raid.  Meh.  While both are improved, there are still many better options available.  I could see myself using BG during the RoI story campaign.  Maybe.

Also, wow, Oryx was rough with ToM getting nerfed.  Definitely took some trial and error, but we got through it.  Ended up putting two hunters on plates so they could tether Ogres 3 & 4.  That helped a lot.  Thankfully, though, that might have been our last time running KF anyway.

Hi everyone.  Lapsed-CAG here.  Been steadily playing Destiny, but haven't chatted with any of you in a while.

I'm at a weird place right now.  Ton of materials, ton of coins, ton of engrams in the vault.  Other than nudging my faction rep up to a hair shy of ranking up, I feel like there isn't much I can do until RoI drops.  But I'll be playing anyway.  i'm curious as to what exactly my 30+ exotic engrams will do once 9/20 arrives.  The comments from Bungie were a bit cagey on that subject.  I don't expect Y3 exotics, but hopefully they at least de-crypt higher than 335.

A few seconds of Mass Effect is better than nothing, but jeez, less than a year before release and they can't give us a proper teaser?  Or even a  Fuck ing synopsis?  At least they showed their team working on it again; good to know they have employees, I guess.  Oh, and it's big.  Really big.  Bigger than anything they've done before.  At least that is what they keep telling us.  This game better be so big that if I want to, I can pilot my Normandy SR3 over to Skyrim and fight some dragons.  I better be able to cruise over to the Cosmodrome and crush some Fallen Dregs in the Mako, if I feel so inclined.  That's how big it should be.

Oh, and I'm sticking by my prediction of November 7, 2017.
