I got a few rounds in with Simo last night. We had a real good time. It was the best of Destiny, just hanging out, chatting, strategizing, etc. We both got shaders and I guess the 320 will be delivered in a week or two which is lame. But still, we had fun.
While I had fun playing with a friend, as an "event", I think Crimson Doubles is pretty weak. I only decided to play after I saw that announcement about the 320 ghosts, otherwise I was intending to pass on this one. I'll be travelling next week so this will force me to take a much needed break from Destiny. And when I return, I can get silly with Garden Warfare 2.

All you hard mode people and your fancy 310+ gear and ghost shells. I ran normal up to deathsingers last night and all I got was a pair of 310 boots and a ton of shards. Going to finish tonight or tomorrow, so hopefully the sisters and Oryx are a bit kinder to me, given that I got squat from the first 3/4 of the raid this week.

Thanks to Gotdot, Certus, Broly, and Drunkz for helping me get my first Oryx kill last night. Nice to have seen the raid through, but it was weird. I was sorely underpowered since I was using a Hunter that I hadn't cleared the story with and was only barely able to get to 290 by swapping a bunch of gear around. Got boots, gloves, and the raid scout of it, so that was nice. However, I feel like I'm in a really weird spot with this game as my primary toon, my 300 warlock, still hasn't finished the raid. I binged this week, but I feel like I have a much better feel for the raid now so future adventures shouldn't take all night.
But wow...3:00 a.m. My body is not built for staying awake for 22 hours.

I finally got around to doing the Banshee exotic scout quest on my Warlock then since I was playing with her and it is alright. It really does not have anything that makes it feel like it is worth an Exotic slot though. The perks are decent and it looks cool but other than that I am fairly unimpressed.
When I first got Tlaloc I was also unimpressed. It's not good if you are playing with the arc or void subclasses where you are constantly casting your super. But if you're a sunsinger and holding your super for the self-res, it makes sense and the reload and stability buffs are quite nice.

Is it just me or have they added so much content that the raid seems unimportant right now? I mean I have enjoyed raiding with everyone here but I feel like spending 3 hours doing quests gets me almost as far as grinding for a boss battle with rng holding the rewards.
I totally agree with you. With the previous iterations of the game, I've always felt like I was behind and had to "endure" the rest of the game just to get myself to a raid-ready level. But right now, I'm at 287 and making steady progress towards 290, but there still seems like there is a ton of other stuff to do. I still have 5 or 6 open quest missions and new things keep opening up.
And Banshee is my new best friend. After getting an amazing fusion rifle from his level 2 quest, I got the Tlaloc from his level 3 quest.
Also: For some reason, last night I lost access to my pre-order SUROS shader and emblem. They still show in my inventory, but are locked behind a "pre-order exclusive purchase required" barrier and I can't equip them. Anyone else have this problem?

I really want to run my Titan through it but I don't think I'll be ready for that tonight (as I still have to do the 5 Heroic strikes to get the NF quest). If you and someone else (Simo maybe?) want to plan to run it Monday evening I can try to get ready for it tonight with the Heroics and gear swapping from my Warlock. You guys pick a time when you can do it and I'll be on then - has to be after 7pm Pacific though.
Alas, I'm out of town until Friday night. But this past weekend, i was able to boost my Warlock to 284, so if anyone wants to get a raid going Saturday night or hit the Court, I'll be ready.

I think I've had enough of the farming though. Love my loot, but it doesn't feel very fun.
Oh, that 4th HM just destroys anything that gets in arm's reach. Wow.

You know, I have some minor complaints, but overall, I really like the changes in 2.0. This week, I've been having a lot of fun just running around shooting stuff in both PvE and PvP. The bounties are simplified, but that is great for me because I often only get to play in short chunks, so being able to "accomplish" something in that short time feels good.
Also, Destiny is still Destiny: After playing the game for a year, last week I got my first Timebreaker sparrow from VoG...then i got a second one Friday night.
Question: what is the deal with the armor materials? I thought that some amount of our class materials (sapphire wire) would convert over somehow to the generic material while we could then trade the rest in for rep. But I have not yet found any conversion system. Are we just stuck starting over from square one on armor materials for TTK?

So is there a reason to hold on to the older plain legendary weapons like Sawtooth, Pest Control, and etc? I will be holding on to primaries that do element damage till I find replacements for those. But as far as the other stuff is it best to delete now or wait till Tuesday?
I'd wait if I were you. I'm not perfectly clear on how it works, but they have talked about being able to break down (or 'infuse') less powerful weapons to help level up new, year 2 weapons. In the notes, Bungie keeps telling us not to get rid of anything just yet, so hold on.

1. Light still matters most. Am I going to equip something with less Light that lowers my overall attack and defense ratings? No way. So, they can say they clarified things, but in reality they still have two very distinct and somewhat confusing levelling systems. After level 20, it’s still all about light.
2. Collections are a great addition. I love being able to just view all my shaders, emblems, ships, and exotics from the tower kiosks. Makes sense and allows me to clear out my vault.
3. Vault space = good.
4. The INT/DIS/STR changes make sense, but it was never something that bothered me. I will say that it is nice that I can look at my stats and see that, without orbs, the cooldown on my super is 4:57.
5. Northbot…[sigh]. I guess he’s fine, but it appears that they told him to just say every line with the complete opposite inflection that Dinklage used and to do so using his best C-3PO impression. Drunkz pointed that out and now I can’t picture anything but 3PO whenever he talks. If I can find a golden Ghost shell, it will be perfect.

Been getting back into the game recently.
I'm not all that good, so I've just been playing some of the strikes and level 28 POE. Thought that maybe I'd try POE 32, since I made it to 32 finally, and I wanted an Armor Core. How much harder than 28 could it be right? So, I found a couple of guys on Destiny Fireteams and gave it a try.
Good grief, I didn't realize how bad I was....we were each 32, and it took us 3 hrs.
I think the problem was, none of us had decent primary weapons. I think maybe I'll wait and see what new weapons I get in TTK, before I try that again. I don't know how the hell you guys do VOG and Crota's End, man.
It gets easier with practice. Leveling up gear is important, but familiarity counts for a lot too. Knowing the maps, what's coming next, and the little gimmicks needed to defeat the bosses... That's what really makes a difference.
You'll get there.

Okay, major shout-out to Glock/Drunkz: He helped me and another guy with our first Skolas kill last night/this morning. We thought we lost him at one point when his mic died, but he really stuck with us and pulled us through that kill when I would have given up. Thank you, Glock, and I hope the spousal repercussions are minimal.
Moments of Triumph complete. Now... this game. I'm going to play some Lego Marvel Heroes.

Oh, Kotaku, you crack me up. They began their breakdown of the live stream with this:
"Destiny, a yearlong beta for a video game that will be released this September, is getting some major overhauls that we should probably talk about."
That's just priceless...and so spot on.
