#14390805 Playstation Deals, PS Plus games, and Discussion

Can't you just make another account on your PS3 and buy them that way? Or does PS+ interfere with that, too?

It will probably happen again at some point.  But unpredictably.  The last time I saw the site accurately showing store inventory was the last week of 2020.  Finding a use for the $5 cert online has been much more difficult since then.

A question of my own:  Does an instore purchase of a digital game (FE: Shadow Dragon) work with the monthly $5?

I also wonder how all the store closures are gonna impact their inventory/if this is tied to it. I doubt it helps when it's hard to trade games in. I used to have 6 FS near me within 15 minute drive and now there's 3. The local one where the guy was actually cool/let some things slide from time to time (e.g. actually let me use the $5 cert on sub/currency cards, track down HTF games) was one of the ones that closed unfortunately.

*sigh* I miss the days when the store inventory would finally show that game I've been hunting for months in stock at a store that was near by... the feeling which was exhilarated by getting to the store and finding the game was complete and in excellent shape. Funny, it was only just over a year ago I think where I drove 15 miles to a store for a copy of Job Simulator... got there and was thrilled to get a copy with a case.

Seems pretty criminal to me. If i was long GME, I would be pissed.

Should be very criminal. It's the definition of market manipulation. To borrow a comparison, this is like your mom turning off the SNES because your little brother was crying that you were beating him at Mario Kart.

what a selfish pov.   the person who benefits is the buyer.   assuming you're also buying used games from GS, eventually you'll benefit BY GETTING THE COMPLETE GAME.

I like how eStarland does their trades. They offer different amounts depending on how complete the game is when you trade it. Plus, when you go to buy a used game they specifically tell you what's included with it as well (case, manual, extras, etc).

Why would you be in favor of it? GameStop ends up paying less trade credit but sell the game at the same price. Only one who benefits is GameStop.

I don't know about the rest of you, but the thought of the government playing parent and guardian to the adults that live in the country to the point that we aren't allowed to sell things unless they're "x" amount or it's been "y" days is fucking awful and terrifying. And I say this as someone that has still not been able to secure one of these damn things.

Absolutely horrible. There needs to be some type of legislation. I would suggest a law that any product that has been released can only go up for auction after 120 days AFTER THE INITIAL RELEASE DATE. This would put a HUGE DENT in the scalping industry.

You want a law against capitalism? Don't get me wrong, misleading a buyer into buying a box is ridiculous. However, if people weren't willing to pay the inflated scalping prices, there wouldn't be money to be made. The people dumb enough to pay 2-3x retail for anything are a big part of the problem.

Picked up Yoshi’s crafted world new for the switch.  It was a “new” copy, I was able to look at it first though, looked good enough.  As I’m about to leave, cashier says wait and starts reaching behind the counter.  I say, it’s ok I don’t need a bag.  He says wait again, and pulls out one of those super sticky clear circular stickers that you sometimes get to seal “new” copies.  He may as well have been saying “wait, I gotta make it worse first.”  They leave way more crap on the case than regular price stickers, I know others have mentioned good ways to deal with it, but I’d still rather not.  I live in an area with tons of GameStops, which don’t do that, and online orders may or may not, making it utterly pointless if it’s not 100%.  He wouldn’t budge, even when trying to explain that my just taking the sticker right back off in front of him or when I get home, it’s essentially the same as my acknowledging that I have voluntarily declined the sticker and we could just say I opened it there.  Guy was nice enough, but couldn’t understand that concept.  Sticker did come off fine, since it was so new on the case and I think he at least put it on lightly.  Worked out fine, but the arbitrary rules that each individual store has, which are gospel according to corporate and absolutely can’t be violated, it’s fun finding new ones of those.  Especially amusing when the solution GameStop comes up with to solve their own mistake or issues is to just make it worse.

Not a big deal, but fundamentally this buying experience is: store fraudulently advertises and sells an open copy as new, customer can’t leave until cashier can deface the item.  Customer can’t decline the defacement because the cashier could get fired if they allowed that.  I would love to know how they come up with this stuff.

Midnight, I believe. Too bad it’s a stupid bundle.

By “stupid bundle” do you mean it doesn’t include Demon Souls?

Was mentioned in xbox pre-order thread -- amazon has 25% cash back on xbox gift cards if you have prime visa or just prime store card -- limit 2 (may be per denomination of card?)

Seriously nice deal - I'm breaking down and getting 2 $100 gift card with the 25% back to use to order the Seagate expansion card.  Now I really need to sell off an X1X to make this up.  :P

Remember to blame Sega for that one. They rushed the game out when it was still clearly unfinished so they could launch it alongside a Nintendo Direct and the dev team had to scramble for weeks to patch it up. The 1.3 patch is the one that actually makes the game fun.

Yeah, you should be thankful they are including the patch. That way you have the full, fixed game without the need to download anything. I’d rather wait a year and get a full game. I kind of wished I had purchased this, I thought they were going to print it without the patches so I passed on it.
