#14206588 Limited Run Games Thread - Global Outbreak of...Delayed Shipping

Tokyo Jungle? Wiki seems to indicate it got physical in Japan, so it's likely formatted right. Kinda strikes me as the kind of game that'd just suddenly get a switch version announced alongside an unexpected sequel, though - if not now, then at some point, on some future system.

Only other ones that come to mind are the unfinished swan (though that's also on ps4 storefront), and...maybe Strongbad's cool game for attractive people, since that one never got a physical like the Sam&Max games did on wii?

Tokyo Jungle already has a physical release for Ps3 in North America. It is on a disk with Sound Shapes and Fat Princess.

If a game takes on average 20 hours to complete, and you have 500 games. That's 10,000 hours. If you played an average of 2.73 hours every single day, it would take you 10 years to finish those games. That's assuming you accumulate no new games. Just to put things in perspective :)

At least, that's how I ended up justifying me trading in and getting rid of some of my collection.

Get out of here with your logic. This is cheapassbacklogger for most of us.

Jokes aside it is good to take this perspective and check in on occasion. None of us are going to outright stop buying stuff.

I have around 2,000 games from intellivision to ps4 with almost every system in between. Some have personal meaning to me and I will never part with. Some stuff I keep to share with my kids, but this promo is great to help cull the herd and free up space. I am never going to play old versions of Madden or Fifa or some offbrand generic shooter with dated mechanics or other dime a dozen experiences and blah story lines.

Am I likely to go back and play the original Halo on xbox or Final Fantasy on my NES probably not especially if there are updated versions like Halo remaster. I loved these games and some stuff I keep because of that.

Things like the original Metroid and Legend of Zelda NES or SNFU on intellivision I hope to play with my kids so it is worth it for me to hold on to them.
Stuff that is weird or unique or redefined gaming is also a draw for me to keep in my gaming library. By the way once you stop thinking of it as a backlog and start calling it a library it will change the way you think of your collection.

Am I proud to have this in my library, is this cool, unique or a defining title in gaming history? Is this something I loved and would be happy to share? The hard stuff to get rid of are the things that do not meet these criteria but will only net 25 cents and that is the direction most of these $2 games are headed. Get something out of them while you can. I have purged ~40 so far and hope to do another batch or two over the weekend.

I think remember the deal they have in place is the Dev gets the digital price times the number of units sold after expenses are covered. This is where the digital price plus $15 to determine the sale price comes from (it was digital price plus $10 pre ESRB) and is base on when the game was signed. That is why some releases are 10 over and some are 15. I think the pre ESRB minimum was $24.99 and post is $29.99.
They used to discuss stuff like this here before they started getting openly attacked over petty crap.

Wonder if Teslagrad was part of the negotiation to get other companies to give LRG carts to finish off their production. (give us blank carts and we will distribute the game for you)

I feel like it is hard enough to get the right game or one that works let alone a complete copy out of the warehouse. A complete copy of something portable never happens and getting two is like winning powerball type odds.

So these guys are planning their own funeral? I guess it may be too late for Gamestop at this point anyway and Gamestop's problems are huge, but if my company's stock just lost 35% yesterday, I might not be so eager to help everybody game the system and speed up the demise of the place I work.

Your issue, however, illustrates one of many of the problems with Gamestop in the first place. They keep creating these crazy deals and promos that allow people (and employees) to take advantage of them and have no system in place to make sure they aren't getting hosed until after the fact and they start banning people for abuse, etc. Virtually every other retailer learned long ago to have better safeguards for sales and promos.

They are probably happy to get clearance stuff off the books. I worked at Best Buy for several years (ages ago) and we were hit with charges from the company for each end of life item we had in stock. End of life stuff also affected how much new release product hit the store so it was beneficial to get rid of it as quick as possible. The employee was probably smart and knows what they need to get off the books. I would be shocked if each store did not have some sort of clearance metric, but hey Game Stop...

I'm late to the "post your collection" trend. My excuse is that my first child was born on Thursday. :baby:

If you count loose, CIB, NIB, and CEs equally as "having a game," I have a nearly complete R1 collection. I'm missing at least Ar Nosurge, Atelier Escha & Logy, Oddworld New n Tasty, and MMA Supremacy. Haven't gone through the checklist recently, though.

Congrats on the kiddo.  Now you have someone to trade for Ar Nosurge, Atelier Escha & Logy, Oddworld New n Tasty, and MMA Supremacy...

As I have suggested to all new fathers get a Vita, it is the only thing you will get to play for the next 6 plus months.  In this case it appears as though you have it covered.

I am trying to post my Vita collection, but it does not look like I can add anything to the gallery.  How is everyone posting without using imgur etc.?

I don't think I have seen anything about this before.

Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly 4/20/2018

Just when I think we have seen the last retail release something else shows up.  I thought March was going to be the end.

I am probably a bit late to ask this, but I am looking for the Minecraft and MLB 15 cases that contain(ed) the download voucher.  If anyone has them and wants to trade PM me.

In other news I am one game away from a Region 1 Vita set (plus the above if you count them).  Never really thought I would do something like that, but I started buying lots of used games when it was clear the flow of releases was numbered. I wanted to have a steady stream of stuff to play since I would suspect this is the best true handheld we will see any time soon (and its my favorite system since the TurboGrafx). Only thing I paid over retail for was the Retro City Rampage release for $65 new off eBay.

Thanks for your sheets Tweeg, they were helpful!  At some point I want to dig into the release notes.  I actually have two different covers for Killzone and I was totally unaware that there were cover variants outside of LRG.  I bought a good portion of my games used so I don't know what does and does not have an insert, but it might be fun to try and update the release notes to include which games came with a manual/ insert etc.

So I decided to take a chance and ordered 6 vita games during GameStops B2G1 online. They came today and all of them were complete....I feel like I won the lottery.

There are games I have ordered three times and still have not received a complete copy.  I wish I had your luck.  What did you get? Newer games?  I feel like the older titles are almost always generic cases.

We do it because many people want to buy one copy to play and one to keep sealed. Might seem stupid to some people but I collect sealed games so I get it. I'm not here to tell people how to enjoy the things they buy. If we can find the right unit counts for each game to allow two per customer and service demand - that's always the goal because it allows us to sell more units of a game for our partners.

We don't start games off at one because there is a fine line here - if we start off at one and a game sells really slow as a result, we get droves of people trying to cancel because a game is "not rare". Many people who want two, will only buy one because they don't want to gamble on waiting for us to raise the limit. When we do raise the limit, they won't buy a second copy because they won't want to pay shipping twice. If they do, they'll want us to combine orders - which, as ridiculous as this may seem, is actually kind of time-consuming to do. We have to manually track combined orders. They completely disrupt or shipping process.

For every game that sold out super fast at two per customer, there is one that sold super slow. Those games would have sold disastrously bad at one per customer.

Note that competitors like VBlank and Play-Asia don't limit people at all in most cases. At least we make an effort to set per person limits on every release - we just have more demand than they do and it isn't consistent or predictable. Some things will sell out quickly and some will go slow. As someone whose money rides on this, I'd prefer the former over the latter. I'm always going to err on the safer side.

For people complaining about one vs two copies, you realize how much easier LRG lives would be if they were shipping these out 5 or 10 copies at a time?  They would be saving money on handling costs (paying people to ship, boxes, tape etc.) and would have far fewer people to deal with complaining about everything.  I think we are all lucky there is some form of limit in place so we all at least have a good chance at getting the ones we want.

I think Doug and Josh should start a complaint jar.  Each time some self entitled person tells you how you are ruining their lives by not "allowing" them to get a release, put a buck in the jar out of the profits that each release.  At the rate of BS here I can only imagine what it is like for the support tickets.  Maybe this way you guys would start paying yourselves what you deserve to be making.

Of course if you did it for shipping complaints (or Skullgirls) the company would go bankrupt and you guys would be sailing around in Yachts...
