#13827622 PS Vita Deals & Discussions Thread

Please don't start this here too.

Yes there are people going for complete sets, some passive some active. Yes several people here have mentioned complete sets, but this is a gaming website and is by no means a reflection of society.  We are the crazy of the crazy; those of us who frequent these pages are a tiny subset of the subset who even play games and completionists are a fraction of the fraction.  There might be several hundred people going for some kind of a complete set, but there is no way there are several thousand people trying to get a complete set of Vita games.

Outside of limited run when you are dealing with multiple levels of distribution (i.e. manufacturing, distribution, retail) publishers would need to sell way more than a few thousand copies to even think about turning a profit.  No one wants to sell a few thousand copies of a game through retail.  You are suggesting that these publishers are actively trying to undermine your complete sets so they can loose money.  It does not make sense.

Toilet seat games ftl.

At least it's a JRPG.  Imagine LRG physical release of Temple Run or Angry Birds or Punch the Monkey as an official NA Vita or PS4 release.

I would gladly pay $25 for a Plants vs. Zombies physical Vita cart.  Game is delisted now.  I bought an Angry Birds Star Wars cart for $10 and would happily do the same for the original, I would probably begrudgingly still buy at $25.

My super ultra limited 1 of 1 copy LRG artwork from Douglas

Cool, but you just degraded the value by making digital copies.  Now everyone in this forum has one...

Looks like Velocity 2x and Axium Verge are up on videogamesplus.ca for Vita (with ESRB logo).  I am wondering how wide of a release these are going to get.  Would be nice to see them hit Best Buy for the GCU discount.  Both are set to release in October along with Demon Gaze 2 according to the website.  Looks like another busy month for Vita.

There aren't thousands who are smearing us but there are thousands who don't understand the delays (literally everything we've posted on Facebook or Instagram has been met with an "Any updates on Skullgirls?" post - even literal updates on Skullgirls will still get those comments). To date, we've answered over 2,000 support tickets related to Skullgirls at an average response time of 3 minutes per ticket. We're nearing three weeks worth of time for one customer support agent to just respond to Skullgirls concerns! That doesn't factor in the time or effort I've spent responding on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, and Instagram.

The folks smearing us number in the 100s and are loud enough where they get to me. They are appearing on our limitedrungames.com forums and other Vita-focused communities. On r/Vita, people actually think we ran off with their money.

I've seen belligerent jerks on Twitter on a nearly weekly basis getting mad at us for how long it has taken. I see daily sarcastic remarks about the delays. Our detractors are using the situation as ammo to convince people we're a bad company. Additionally, I have to deal with at least two or more PayPal disputes per day which do nothing but waste my time and hurt my standing with PayPal.

That's not even touching on the fact that we planned to press 10,000 units of Skullgirls on PS4 and 5,000 on Vita via our traditional route (you can verify this claim in the Game Informer interview I did where I say we have a 10K game on the horizon). We sold significantly less through preorder and had to spend a lot on advertising to even pull that off.

Frankly, I'd rather die than do another non-PC preorder.

Skullgirls has shown that not only does it make our job significantly more difficult, it inadvertantly makes the games more rare because less people buy them.

Our partners have EVERY single right to reprint their games once we sell out. Our model works for everyone involved - if you feel a particular game was vastly underprinted, you can very easily ask the devs to seek another pressing. They have the rights - we don't lock anything up in a vault!

I really don't get the hate.  I want my Skull Girls Vita copy as well, but I would rather get it next year and have it fully patched than have received it in February as an unfinished mess requiring patches and using tons of space on my memory card.

PSP had between 75 & 80million systems world wide over it's 10 years including five different models.  There was a lot more to dump especially considering the library was multiple times bigger than the vita and was widely available at retail.

The Vita sold less overall hardware than the WiiU world wide.  The main liquidation was for the PSTV since it just didn't sell.  My first PSTVI got during an Amazon deal (I think it was a deal of the day or gold box thing).  The second one I picked up was the three game bundle from walmart when they were liquidating them.  There was a point where Walmart liquidated the remaining vita systems, but they were already so far off the market at that point it was super YMMV.  I feel good though that when I got my Vita (about 6 months after my first PSTV) that there were still Borderlands 2 bundles around.  That made the sting a little easier and makes me feel better knowing even know that it's hard to find that deal new for less.

I think rarity will help in the long run sort of like the TG16, Saturn & Dreamcast which totaled around the 10 Million mark... and then it'll sort of fizzle and get more affordable.  WiiU should spike as well given it's only around 13.5 million systems vs 12.5 million vita systems.

Just curious where you got your numbers.  According to vgchartz Wii-U (no longer in production) ended at 13.9 million units sold worldwide.  Vita is still in production and is at 15.6 million units.  Just wondering if you have a different/ better source for numbers.

Also I am fairly sure TG-16 sold less than 1 million units unless you are lumping it in with PC Engine.  The libraries were so different between the US and Japan that I think that would be tough to justify.  CD games worked on both systems, but the HuCard required an adaptor.

As far as pricing goes I feel like there is always a drop as retailers exit the market for a system followed by a rise in price (where we are now with the Vita) as people who own the system try to grab a few more titles.  After that there is another drop as the casual market moves on to the next system (not quite to the extent of the retailer liquidation). Then the price just goes up from there as fewer and fewer units/games are available.  You used to be able to walk into almost any thrift store and pick up an NES for less than $20 and regularly find carts for $1-2.  Once the fluid supply dries up prices go up.

As far as used Vitas go I see them in pawn shops for less than $100 fairly often, but they almost never have a memory card.  One store told me they throw away all memory cards (games, cameras etc.) to avoid questionable material.

Agreed. I forgot about the release, checked at 10:45 and it was still available on both platforms with about 22% left for each. Ordered the Vita version at that time, then the PS4 version about an hour later.

I honestly think this scenario means they hit the demand perfectly for what they are trying to do, produce a limited run game and make it available to everyone who wants a copy.  When the games sell out in minutes money was left on the table for both Limited Run and the Developers.  Right now there are 180 copies for Vita left and 202 copies left for PS4 it will sell out before the end of the weekend.  This is the best scenario for everyone (except resellers), LRG gets the money out of the release to feed into the next one and people who want the release had plenty of time to get it.

Still worried about Oceanhorn and Cosmic Star Heroine production levels.  Maybe my personal bias from the games I like to play (Phantasy Star and Legend of Zelda are my favorite series of games), but I could see both of these releases clearing 10,000 plus copies on each platform.  I just hope they can figure out getting Cosmic Star Heroine on a Vita cart.

What purpose would a family of 4 do with 8 copies of octodad?

Phase 1) Collect Octodad

Phase 2) ?

Phase 3) Profit!

Got 6 copies. Paid $17 each.

Well I got 7 copies and paid $16 each.

Wait what are we talking about?

Sometimes I hate when games jump up in value when I bought them to play.  I would like to open my Breach and Clear, Ar Nosurge and Metroid Prime Trilogy but can not bring myself to do so since I know it cuts the resale in half even though I know I would not sell them.

I don't think I will ever play the game so I thought maybe someone else will. What do you mean karma points?

Karma points = good things come to those who do good things.

Whoever wants the voucher code for Final Fantasy X-2 can have it. I don't feel like wasting 3.5GB on my memory card for the game plus it doesn't seem interesting to me. Hopefully it still valid and let me know if it worked. Here is voucher code free:  all gone

Can't believe I won fastest fingers on that one.  Thanks a ton.  I have been eyeing a used copy of this at my local independent game shop but did not get it because there is no code.  You may want to edit the code out so you do not get spammed.

Thunder road!

Thunder Rolls?

Off topic, but it is a nice box set ~120 songs on ten CDS in five two cd cases.  Have only listened to the covers CD, but thought it was fine.  I mostly bought it for the two live CDs the covers cd and his new one (I already have most of his studio stuff already).  Can't really beat 10 CDs for $8.99.  I would imagine these will make it to Goodwill, but mine tends to mark stuff higher than the clearance price.

Reselling things is perfectly within people's rights and I've always said that and maintained that from the start. What I care about is people breaking the limits we set. Play by the rules and I don't care one bit. This chriszx dude on eBay is ordering 10+ copies of games where we set a limit of 1 per customer - that's not cool.

It'd be one thing if I went through and banned people for selling the one or two copies they buy within our limits. I don't and frankly I don't care - you have the right to do with your property as you please. If you break the rules I set, though, that's a different story. I don't want you around in that case.

For everyone complaining about the reselling market and eBay, I don't think you realize how trivial of a percentage of the copies go there.  The ranting and complaining make it sound like 90% of the copies end up on eBay.

You can look back 90 days in eBay sales history (~November 21st to present) so I am sticking with releases from around that time frame.

Volume Vita 69 copies sold out of 4,800

Odd World Stranger's Wrath Vita 126 copies sold out of 4,500 (5,500 with PSX copies which I did not exclude)

Firewatch PS4 119 copies sold out of 7,300

Lone Survivor Vita 34 copies sold out of 3,600

Lone Survivor Vita 35 copies sold out of 3,600

The number of transactions are around 1-2 copies per 100 released by Limited Run Games are resold on eBay.  Add in other sources like Amazon etc  and it is still probably less than 5%.  Unless there is some black market voodoo video game reselling center where the other 85% are going that I don't know about, resellers are not stealing all of the copies.

Josh and Douglas have good systems in place to limit abuse, they clearly are doing more than most companies in their position would be doing. Lay off and be an adult sometimes you don't get the things you want.
