#13752456 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutants in Manhattan Xbox One $9.99 FREE SH...

Posted by BudzMcGee on 23 June 2017 - 08:14 PM

I got TMNT for I think $8 from Redbox around Christmas. There was a lot of potential in it (with some polish it really could have been a fun update to the beat em' up arcade style) but as is, it feels rushed, incomplete and at times boring. The boss battles in particular are just not fun. It was worth the $8 because I was able to sell it off for like $20 at the time, but hard to justify it otherwise.

Wound up buying Dead Island Definitive for $8 though.

Side note, if you're a BeFrugal user, you can get 7% back if you go through them before buying.

#13696029 Offical Disney Movie Rewards Code Thread

Posted by BudzMcGee on 21 April 2017 - 02:55 PM

First of all, thanks for posting this! I just doubled my points on a few recent purchases. Something I would like to add though is if you generate the Amazon code and enter it it into the general code redemption box (i.e. don't click through from DigitalCopyPlus) you'll receive a $20 video credit instead. I found this out by accident when trying to redeem Captain America: Civil War. I wonder if you can then redeem on DMA, get the points, and keep a $20 credit.

Woah, this is potentially interesting news.

Redeeming the code on Disney Rewards will net you the digital copy usually. Easy to test. Redeem on digital copy plus. Put code in Amazon for general cod redemption then put code in on DMR. Should end up with $20 Amazon video credit and the digital copy based on your notes.

Which you could in turn use to buy other Disney movies which you'll get points for. haha.

#13681561 New VUDU disc to digital phone app, just scan barcode, but..

Posted by BudzMcGee on 04 April 2017 - 03:39 PM

Your right!  I was on the site the day they changed it over and it was missing...  Glad to see they got it fixed. :)

Edit: Or maybe I'm blind... but I'm pretty sure it was missing.

You're not crazy, the search bar was gone for a while.

So this is a mixed bag. Losing the 50% discount sucks. It was an awesome deal (especially combined with the glitch that let you get HD copies from DVDs).  Yes, you can scan barcodes you find, but not all work.

What's nice though is that I've found a handful of titles, like Dark Skies and Attack the Block, which never worked now do. Since I converted so many before when the 50% off existed, this feels almost like getting the remainders I couldn't before. With that mind-frame I don't mind the extra $1 for some of these titles. Helps I'm using promo credits (mostly from Cafe Breaks) anyway.

I also highly recommend using a title that doesn't have a blu-ray, meaning the only option is the $5 HD conversion, for your freebie. I grabbed Thank you for Smoking as a title I've always wanted but there was no blu-ray to convert from so it cost $5 to do.

#13615257 Walmart YMMV In Store Clearance Thread I

Posted by BudzMcGee on 30 January 2017 - 08:03 PM

The only way I would ever pick up any version of Duck Dynasty is if it gets pennied out.  And even then I'm not sure I'd want it taking up space in my game room.

Great way to replace a cracked case of a good game though. lol

#13615209 Lego Dimensions Level Packs & Fun Packs at 99¢ Only Stores

I don't even have Lego Dimensions but at $0.99 I'd pick most of these up just cause they are lego.  Wish there was a store near me.

Quantum Break's price point is one stubborn son of a bitch.

#13594014 Target Clearance Thread XXII

Posted by BudzMcGee on 12 January 2017 - 07:25 PM

Is anyone able to tell me why the Nintendo aisle looks like Hurricane Katrina went thru it? Its a GHOST TOWN in there..  i.e. the 3DS and Wii U Game cases are like 75% empty.. and this is at 5+ Targets that I've been to since Xmas..

Furthermore why does no one seem to have or carry the NEW Nintendo 3DS XL anymore?   I have been going to BB, Target, GS, and Wally World(take a shower after each trip of course) and they have been OUT OF STOCK since Xmas eve...

I have $200 burning a hole in my pocket..  any idea whats up?

oNe

p.s.  My Black Friday Mario all black Edition finally came in from Walmart 2 weeks ago so I'm sittin on that but I hear the NEW 3DS XL screen is a full inch bigger so waiting on that and returning my special Mario edition..

p.s.s.  All this jus because I want to play Chrono Trigga on the "big screen"   and well I guess FFVI too..  or am I doing something wrong here? sKooL me fellas!

Rumors are that Nintendo is pulling all unsold Wii-U's from store shelves so that may be part of it.

#13588018 Target Clearance Thread XXII

Posted by BudzMcGee on 05 January 2017 - 02:24 PM

they don't consider gamestop retail, they consider it a hobby shop......

which is also why dude prob ran into trouble at target.

I believe you are thinking of used games. That's the issue you run into honestly, a lot of Target/Best Buy employees think GameStop only sells used games so they may try to deny the match.

Best Buy's price match policy in particular is actually pretty lenient, as they leave room for basically any competitor within 30 miles and are able to just type in a store name if it isn't on their internal list (funny enough, in the past they've had to write in Kmart as apparently there are so few left that Best Buy stopped including it by default). Since there is a Microsoft Store near me, the Best Buy's near me will even match their prices. It's great, I tell them I just want to avoid going to the Mall of America and every employee I've ever asked has basically responded with, "That's smart!" and done the match.

#13582806 XBL Deals - 2016, Part 2

Posted by BudzMcGee on 30 December 2016 - 03:38 PM

Checking out the 360 deals:

Is Deadpool worth getting at $20 or should I wait for the price to drop further? I really liked the movie and I'm keeping my Marvel gaming on Xbox whenever I can.

Deadpool is not worth $20. Has a few funny moments but incredibly repetitive gameplay and it's a short game. I rented it from Redbox and beat it in an afternoon without feeling like I was rushing it. I would MAYBE say $20 for the disc is acceptable cause you could resell it to reduce the actual cost, but I wouldn't pay more than $5 for digital, maybe $10 if you just really really really really really really love Deadpool.

#13581844 XBL Deals - 2016, Part 2

Posted by BudzMcGee on 29 December 2016 - 06:12 PM

For the price, Portal 2 is an easy sell even if you just play the SP. BC is icing on the cake (which is a lie).

Portal 2 eventually requires some quick reflexes but it may actually be a great game for her to acclimate to dual analog first person. No precise aiming, no enemies rushing you, can take most puzzles as slow as you like. I think for less than $7 it's a good gamble.

I agree with this. Portal 2 should get bumped to the top of your backlog. I didn't like it as much as Portal but in fairness it also wasn't the first time I experienced the concept. Portal games are a blast and super fun as far as puzzle games go. I have a 360 disc copy and I'll probably be buying digital and ditching the disc at this price. So even if she doesn't like it, there's a great game to be had. Which is really why she might come around to the FPS controls. The game is so fun that she may find the patience to stick with it.

ARK players... (are there any?)

On the fence on this one. How has the game come along since it first joined Game Preview? I know there are achievements now, but how is the gameplay loop?

EDIT:

Just read this review from the store page:

Is this true? Sounds awful...

I demo'd ARK when it was on sale around Black Friday. I played for about 30 minutes. Died 4 times, twice due to glitches, once because I had no idea what I was supposed to do (I wound up googling the controls), I'll explain the 4th reason below. It's an absolute dumpster fire. Playing solo the graphics ranged from glitchy to mediocre, gameplay left a lot to be desired and the best way I can sum up the game is this:

The 3rd time I died at night. I re-spawned at night. With nothing in my inventory and in pitch black. I couldn't even see wood/other materials needed to pick up in order to light a fire to see where I was going or what I was doing. Before it became daylight I died of starvation. Just sitting there. In the dark, unable to do or see anything.

That's ARK in a nutshell. It's such a mess that I'm surprised that Microsoft is letting them sell it (let alone the fact that they are also selling DLC for a game that isn't even close to being a finished product, which also tells you the developer's priorities). It just makes the whole game preview system look like shit.

#13267319 Flash Season 1, Arrow S2 & S3, Gotham S1 Blu-Rays $14.99 each with...

Posted by BudzMcGee on 28 March 2016 - 12:33 AM

The listing definitely says both for seasons 2 & 3. I bought season 1 as well but that only listed bluray so I knew what to expect with that.

To clarify I'm saying I didn't even noticed that it said DVD on the listing. You're right it does. I'm agreeing that Best Buy made a mistake.

#13266621 Flash Season 1, Arrow S2 & S3, Gotham S1 Blu-Rays $14.99 each with...

Posted by BudzMcGee on 27 March 2016 - 02:54 AM

Even though seasons 2 and 3 of Arrow said they were supposed to be bluray/DVD my copies are bluray only. Am I missing something?

Didn't notice that on the listing. That's totally incorrect on Best Buy's part. Don't think there's any version of Arrow season 3 that has both.

That's a completely fair "angry letter" to best buy if you bought it expecting/wanting both.

#13058261 Microsoft Store Cyber Monday 2015 Deals LIVE NOW!
