Hey hey, is someone talking smack about the voice acting in the Playstation version of Symphony of the Night? It's silly, but it's classic! The PS4 version, by contrast, is kind of meh. There's none of that joyous cheese from the original game, and all the lines have been restated, which doesn't necessarily improve them. 

 

"Dracula! You deserve to be placed in an open grave, which will immediately be covered with dirt upon your arrival! You must never return to this place we call the planet Earth!"

"Oh, but the people of this planet requested my presence here, offering their best wishes and support, along with this basket of fine sausages from Hickory Farms!"

I'm gonna take credit for these going on sale, I literally bought both of them this past week at full price bc I had credit expiring and assumed it'd be more likely they'd get delisted than actually go on sale at any point. You're all welcome

The sale on Dragon's Dogma gives me a convenient excuse to delete the game from my Switch. I downloaded it for that system at least a year ago but never played it... I wasn't even sure if it ran well there, or if I even wanted to play it on that format. An Xbox One version makes a lot more sense for a game this epic in scope.

I got that too. It says "Xbox Live Rewards Deposit Refunded $5.00". I wonder what was refunded.

 

Whatever it is expires August 8. So maybe not actually a refund.

Wait wait, I think I figured it out. Remember the couple of days when Xbox users couldn't log in or play some of their games? I think this is compensation for that. I wasn't adversely affected by the downtime, but hey, five bucks is five bucks.

DOA2, maybe. The first Dead or Alive is a Saturn port (or possibly emulation?) and as such doesn't offer all that much visually. Instead of fighting in stages with dimension and topography, you get flat arenas with explosive hot zones in place of ring out zones. DOA2 has aged remarkably well, but the original is probably too light on content and visual splendor to bother with it in 2022.

I think you're giving GameStop too much credit.

I can't give GameStop too much of anything, as they pulled out of the nearest town weeks ago.

Jim Ryan is PlayStation's Don Mattrick.  It is amazing the damage he has done to the brand, and they haven't axed him yet.

Dang. That's a pretty unflattering assessment. Mattrick would have murdered the Xbox brand if Microsoft hadn't stepped in to pull it back from the brink.

Imagine Monopoly and Magic: The Gathering got into a violent car accident. That's Culdcept. You draw cards which have either monsters, power-ups, or spells. The monsters you play like hotels, and they have their own strength and hit point ratings. The power-ups you use to boost the monsters' abilities, and the spells you use to help you or hinder the opponent. You can use money to raise the level of monsters, making them more powerful and shaking more money out of your opponent when they land on them and can't beat them with a monster of their own.

 

It's a novel idea and the card artwork is quite good, but be warned: Culdcept cheats like a son of a bitch and always has, since it first debuted on the Saturn in 1997. Be prepared for a lot of suspicious dice rolls. I'd like it more if the rolls were random, but they're not and it's just something you'll have to learn to accept, and anticipate.

"Who the hell is the Embracer Group?" It's a question many of us have been asking. As it turns out, it's just the new name of the company that owns T*HQ-Nordic. So basically, Tomb Raider is a T*HQ product now.

Yeah she makes bank doing it. $5 a face adds up. She does conventions too. The nerdcore rapper Mega Ran is from out there and she's met him which is pretty cool.

Has anyone ever asked her to paint red dripping down their eyes, like she made a mistake and gouged them out with the paintbrush?
