The Running Man gave us the concept of the deepfake!
Me watching the movie on TV in my teens: "What a big load of science fiction hooey! Replacing peoples' faces with computers! Never happen in a million, billion years."

I bought a Vita TV because it was cheap, and I was still very much into the handheld Vita. Hey, I can play these games on a big screen! And hack it for even MORE games that wouldn't normally work on a Vita TV! You can even use a PS4 controller as a touchscreen! What's not to like?
Later, I bought a Vita TV (the big bundle, with the memory stick, a PS4 controller, and the voucher for Sly Cooper) at a Wal-Mart for thirty bucks. I was happy to get all the extra stuff, especially a fresh PS4 controller, but I wasn't so much interested in the system. If I could use my choice of controller and add storage that didn't fill up the USB slot or the cartridge slot and didn't cost a zillion dollars, I might be more inclined to use one.
(The cartridge slot is largely vestigial now; maybe I'll break down and get a big SD card, an SD2Vita converter, and cram it with a crapload of, uh, independently sourced games. 256GB would get you pretty far on a Vita, wouldn't it?)

Man, from all the doom and gloom, you'd think Microsoft was about ready to pack its bags and go third party like everyone else. (They kind of sort of are with all their Switch games, and even a few PS4 games, but you get the idea.)
If that happens and the Xbox Series goes all Dreamcast on me, I have but one request... let us run homebrew emulators again! Or don't take away what little support we have for them! That twenty dollars I paid for Dev Mode better be good for the rest of my life, as well as my next of kin!

Anyone here have any thoughts on Advent Rising? It looks like this is the second time it has been on sale in a little over a year. I also just learned the game went for $0.50 like 5 years ago on Steam/GOG. Wow.
You remember Mass Effect, right? Imagine Mass Effect, but clunky instead of tight, plain instead of beautiful, and with characters that are thoroughly forgettable instead of compelling. It's like a Mass Effect that never came out of the ocean and grew legs.

AtGames has that trademarked.
Here's the thing. AtGames was pretty crappy with its ugly Genesis clones, but I think it's improved with the Legends series. I've got my Legends Pro set up in my computer room, with a flash drive plugged into it for extra games, and I'm pretty happy. I can just stroll in there at any time and play just about any arcade game I want, almost instantly... it's like I have my own arcade, complete with a vertical monitor for shooters.
My beef with Arcade1Up is, in addition to the prices, they're not very expandable. I mean, if you get the Marvel Super Heroes one or the NBA Jam one, you can add games, but those Countercades have a huge footprint. The smaller ones save space, but they play what, five games each? If that? And if you want them to play MORE games, you have to rip out the brains and replace them with a Raspberry Pi or something.
Even the MyArcade cabinet I bought online plays twenty Namco games, and you can shovel in a whole bunch more by hacking it.

Since the 3DS and Wii U are officially orphaned consoles without a digital store, can we finally change the name of the topic to something more timely? I think Switch sales are conducted here, but you wouldn't know from the title.

So Xenia (Xbox 360 emulator) is out for Xbox consoles now. Now we truly get to see how lenient Microsoft is with emulators.
Oh boy. I hope it doesn't convince them to kill all the other emulators for Xbox. Playing Bloody Roar: Primal Fury is one of my guiltiest pleasures on my Series S.
