Having no personal experience with the Gold Headset (which by deductive reasoning makes me an internet expert), I would imagine that the 7.1 SSS would only be an option for and maybe and possibly and nothing else.
Also, aren't there a lot of complaints about the Gold Headset being really flimsy?
The SSS is only when you're using for PS. It's just stereo when used with the X1. As for it being flimsy, I didn't find it flimsy at all. I used it day in day out for 2-3 years. Never an issue.

It's the only headset I've used on besides the wired one that came with the console. Grabbed two for $30 each from Sears in 14 when everything was really cheap.
It works good on , it sounds good, and the most important for me at least, is they're really comfortable. They don't bother me after wearing for like 5 hours straight. They're very durable, I've only opened one, and I rotate it between my and . So it has gotten a lot of use
It does have a rechargeable battery built in for wireless use but the wireless usb adapter doesn't work on so it would have to be wired only. It does the come with the cord for that.
I've used the PS Gold headset on my X1 for a few years. They were very comfy and sounded great. They're connected to the X1 controller via cable (use the cable that came with the headset). Even though they have internal battery, I believe they're powered from the X1 controller. The only beef I had with them was that the mic tends to pick up the audio from the headset and send it out to my party or to my multiplayer team. I had to actively mute/unmute all the time.

The Zombie Army looks like it could be fun co-op.

Is Titanfall worth it if I'll never be able to voice chat? The only chance I have to play is at night when the baby is asleep in the next room.
Totally worth it. Not too many people use voice chat in Titanfall. I'm in the same boat... new baby, so I use headset and no chatting.

Quoting you but if anyone knows... how extensive is the check they perform???
My PS3 slim sometimes requires several tries before it powers up and stays on.
I didn't trade in a PS3, but I traded in my 360 last nite. They plugged it in (w/o hooking it up to monitor), turned it on, open/close my tray. Asked what capacity was my drive and that was it. I'm sure this is YMMV depending on your BBY cust rep.
