MS Casual Games rant… why does GPU include the ad free premium version of Solitaire, but no other games like Sudoku? Every time I get an ad in sudoku I just close the app. I’d like to finish off some achievements in that game but the ads for crappy match three games irritate the hell out of me.

Obviously because if all the Microsoft casual games went for free on Game Pass it would create an unfair advantage for them in the gaming market.

Speaking of narrative, RPGs, and Game Pass, I'm about 12 hours into Chained Echoes and I can't put it down. It takes 2-3 hours to pick up but once it does, it has a great pace and the battle system is really engaging.

Alright, here is the racing gear I splurged on. Set it up at my parents house this weekend and there's nothing better than seeing my 90 year old grandfather smile ear to ear while playing. He loves cars and I've always tried to get him into racing games, but controllers are a bit too complicated. Putting him behind a wheel was awesome!

So, previously I posted about being laid off.  I was one of 18k let go by the company we all either love or hate.  You know what's crazy?  Turned out to be the best thing to ever happen to me professionally.  I'd been with the company for a number of years and was resigned to staying forever.  Turns out, I was crazy underpaid for what skillset I bring to the table.  Ended up signing an offer two days ago for a position with unlimited PTO and 40% raise in pay, before my 10% yearly bonus, plus profit share, plus equity in the company.  This process really caused me to look at myself and pinpoint exactly what I want and deserve.  Great confidence booster even before getting the job offer.  Anyway, just posting to stay positive no matter how negative the situation may seem.  There is always something that can be learned.

 

Playing Atomic Heart and it's cool so far.  Gonna stick with it until the world opens up.  Anyone else have an annoying time activating the scanner?  It's either buggy, or my controller is about to go out

 

edit:  after the math, it's actually a 40% increase in base salary.  Life changing for me

Congratulate me!  I hit day 1,000 on my daily streak!

 

This is the longest period of time that I've spent intentionally doing a repetitive task.

 

Is this what marriage is like? 

It sucks when it comes out of nowhere like that.  That's a good amount of severance pay though which most people don't ever see. Enjoy some time off and good luck with the new job search.

Dang.  Got laid off this morning from that company with the big smile.  Kind of in disbelief.  I want to take the next few days to just relax before I hit the ground running for another position.  Got roughly 5 months severance, so it could be a lot worse.  I guess I'll have more time for gaming

Fyi, if you placed in the top 500 in the Xbox FanFest Trivia back in November. They sent out additional $20 gear store codes for a total of $30. That was enough to push me to look at the store and ended up grabbing an xbox logo area rug lol. 

So, did it again. Purchased an extra copy of Gunvolt Chronicles Luminous Avenger iX (Arg). If anyone is interested like the post and I'll random it on Saturday.

Also grabbed RPG Time and Kaiju Wars based on a PC Gamer articles about hidden gems in the Steam sale. They looked pretty neat, maybe one day I'll even play them.

The dell gift card from the Alienware promo takes a while to receive. I got the order confirmed email from Dell on 12/23, but nothing else. Crazy.
