Has anyone been watching Domestic Girlfriend? This show is a lot better than I would have expected. The opening sounds like it's sung by YUI, but doesn't appear to be since I don't see her name pop up (or somehow missed it). Good one tho!

So if anyone bought Re; Zero part 1 and wanted the disks replaced Funimation is doing a replacement program.
The crappy thing while you don't have to show proof of purchase, they require you to return the disks to them and you pay shipping and then they will send you the fixed disks.
I did buy the set and will be sending mine back not sure what this is going to cost me yet but I'd rather have a complete set the way it suppose to be then have it be worse then the crunchy roll stream.
They fucked up a blu ray set again? What'd they do with this one? I was waiting for them to create a RE: Zero compilation before buying (which will probably take 2-3 years knowing Funi). Hopefully this issue doesn't crop up there as well. Have those new Code Geass discs that I haven't checked out yet to see if they are fixed.

As a kid who grew up in during the 90's arcade boom, those show was right up my ally. Every little detail they went into I knew about.
Yeah same here. My favorite was the angry gamer people who would rage when they got their asses kicked. I distinctly remember slaughtering people in Mortal Kombat, particularly adults, who would pound the shit out of the cabinet when they lost. I don't ever remember anyone attacking someone else at the arcade, but in some of the more ghetto areas, I definitely heard stories of it happening. It'd be really awkward for a 30-something adult to start beating on a 14 yr old kid lol. My parents never gave me money to spend on the arcade, so going there was more of a rare privilege and usually were the arcades attached to the movie theaters. I'll be in Osaka in a month though and I think they still have an area that is home to lots of arcades still. Arcades in Japan are still really fun and cool.

Finished Goblin Slayer tonight. I'm sure readers of the comics will disagree, but I do think the first episode did the show a disservice. I guess it did a good job of framing goblins as not the bumbling jokes they usually are, but it still felt like it tried too hard to be super edgy. This was most noticeable in comparing the way they handled the meat shields at the end to that first episode.
Also, Skull-Face Bookseller Honda-san is still my favorite show from the season. I don't know why, but I enjoyed every episode.
Is there any hype yet about any of next season's shows?
I agree, I enjoyed the show outside of that first episode. Next season there are some follow on shows like Date A Live S3, Mob Psycho (I never got into this show, but some really like it) and Mononokean S2.
In terms of new stuff, Rise of the Shield Hero seems like it has potential. It's yet another isekai show, but the preview was interesting. Clearly MMO inspired. I've heard a lot about "revisions". Seems to be hyped, but I don't know shit about it. I also saw a preview for a magical girl show that looked promising. A little darker than what I would expect, but not as dark as some of the recent ones.
I believe Funimation is also releasing in theaters the latest Code Geass movie in Feb. I think this is the all new content one, but I haven't been following it 100%. First one was the compilation, second one was ???, third one will hopefully be profit.

He was fine for awhile, but towards the end he just became too much of a creepy stalker kind of character. Definitely not a bad series though, I just thought he was the weakest part.
I totally get how you can feel that way. I guess my view on him is that he was actually the central, pivotal part of the show that made it great. His transformation from happy-go-lucky to gradually terrorized by his inability to explain his situation and constantly getting screwed, then basically going nuts from the stress of it all and finally making a (heroic) recovery. You may feel like he just sucks because of how he handled some of the situations, but to me it helped me empathize with what he was going through and make him feel like a real person, even if I thought that he did stupid shit from time to time.

So I finally watched Yuki Yuna is a Hero and boy is that show an emotional roller coaster. Apparently there's a prequel LN that's fairly tragic. I wonder if they should have used that as the initial episodes of this show. I don't think it would really spoil much at all. One of the better 12 episode stories I've seen in a while though.
Edit: Oh boy I'm behind the times, they already animated a bunch of that stuff! Time to go find it!

Did something happen to the Utena set that's supposed to come out? Amazon's page is gone, and Rightstuf is now saying release 2027.
I wasn't even aware of these problems until I did some google-fu. Apparently this is the issue:
We've had inquiries from those of you with Amazon orders for the 20th Anniversary Utena Blu-ray set. Amazon has currently delisted the item because we don't have a new release date set for it. However, for some reason Amazon is telling people it is shipping this week. It is not. The set will not ship until we get the new rings which are currently under production.
The rings are very nice quality and therefore they take a lot of time to re-manufacture. We hope that those of you who have ordered this item will please be patient with us as we work to get this issue resolved.
- Kris, Senior Producer
Edit: Also this:
Update on the Utena 20th Anniversary box sets:
Regretfully, due to circumstances beyond our control, the 20th Anniversary Revolutionary Girl Utena Blu-ray Box Set will be delayed. The ring components of this product have been lost by the carrier, and while we have attempted to wait for them to be found, this has not occurred. Therefore these components will have to be remanufactured.
We realize this will come as a disappointment to many of you who hoped to have this wonderful box set for the holiday. Rest assured that we will do everything in our power to expedite the re-manufacture so that we can ship this item to you as soon as possible. All other components are in house and we will assemble them internally to turn them the day that they arrive.
Please accept my personal apologies for this issue. I was truly hoping that the materials would be located in time.

Watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Meh. It's not a bad movie, but it's not something I would watch again or related to.
Also started watching Black Clover. Now this was really bad. Felt like I was watching a mash-up of Naruto, One Piece, and Blue Exorcist (and apparently borrows from other shonen series). They say "Wizard King" ad nauseum and the main character is constantly hitting on a nun.
I want to continue watching Toonami, but it seems like their lineup isn't all that great for new content.
Yeah that's pretty much how I feel about both of those. I am still watching Black Clover because it's entertaining enough. Oh and for GirlswithGuns, I decided to get a ticket for Mary and the Witch's Flower next week. The trailer looked great, so let's see if it holds up.

Just curious, how good are the BF deals for anime? I just recently started getting into anime more and this thread is pretty new to me.
It varies. Sometimes they are stellar and sometimes they are garbage. I'll say this though, especially if you're just getting into anime, there's a really good chance someone will have a great anime sale you'll be able to buy a ton of titles from around that time.

I just put in a pre-order for the complete Gurren Lagann set that is coming out in a few weeks. Not nearly as bad as Fate: Zero, but there is definitely some Aniplex tax going on with this one. I'm splurging on this one partially because it's Gurren Lagann, and I like me some Gurren Lagann. But it is also includes the movies, which is a nice bonus. And the original Gurren Lagann DVD sets were always a little spotty when it came to playing in different devices.
These faux import taxes always surround some of the most popular and/or critically acclaimed series. The reverse-import trend in Japan is largely to blame, as well as the media publishing industry over there. (and their obsession with freakishly high prices)
I got the blu-ray box from Zavvi the other day when they had it on the cheap. Telling ya, that region free blu-ray pays for itself.
