#14522256 Limited Run Games Thread - Nothing is Limited, We Make Everything Now!

Posted by jmarano7836 on 24 February 2023 - 07:09 PM

Can someone explain what’s going on?

Only speaking or trying to explain to your question:

- Vita carts stopped being manufactured from Sony ~31/Mar/2019.

- Companies had to provide sony with product codes in June of 2018 as well ; a lead time on physical games to help project manufacturing.

- First wave was new games/carts being released in US unless they had obtained additional quantities (like LRG)

- Later waves then were other regions i.e. Japan/APAC(Asia-Pacific)and other distributers there (PlayAsia, etc).

- Distributors continued to release games on carts but there was innately a bit of a 'who can be the last company to release "The Last Vita Game" on cart.... competition.

- LRG had also mentioned if a customer acquired physical copies to all LR-101 Vita titles and provided proof with images, they would be entitled to purchase or obtain the last release (The Bird King - Vita) game from them, if not the last vita release from any company.

- It has then become a topic not frequently updated or swept under the rug meanwhile, allowing other companies to release their last vita releases over time. (Many were manufactured prior to the deadlines/cutoffs etc). It just feels as if everyone is holding 1 back to keep the competition alive, and be the official 'last company to release a Vita Title".

(Again, this is what I understood loosely from threads, discussions, and posts, and may not be exactly 100% accurate or I may have missed some pieces, so paraphrasing here my sentiments). I also read Doug's reply to be like "The competition is alive and well" with his response....

Again - just trying to explain based on your request and also acknowledge everyone's thought's feelings in the threads and that - they are  usually valid. Long shipping times, Long wait times, sometimes damaged product upon receipt, a request of more clear & concise communication. At this point, my sole interest now with LRG is pretty much this last title, since I'm 1 LRG vita game away (and its en route via shipping) and would want that one added to my collection too. (Which i do open, play, and sometimes even trade/sell once completed (platinum obtained) for PS4 other LRG games, especially where I doubt I'll have a future interest in replaying or passing along.  Hang in there everyone, hope your shipments arrive undamaged &/or earlier than expected.

On the note of Kemco, I finally got around to playing one of their games - Dragon STINKER.

Fixed and seeing your comment made me think about this joke from years ago and laugh. I couldn’t agree with you more Tothoro; which is actually playing on my PS5 now! (Totoro, not any Kemco game to clarify)

I think I ended like ~6 LRG vita titles away from their full set but am focusing on other vita games since we will never get the vita set reward. I think their plan was to have 1 title they didn’t release to officially be the last distributer for vita ( for claim or clout alone) and/or hope most of us are gone by the time it does release. I would say play and sell off what you can of LRG but that also might be since I’ve been updating my collecting strategies and expectations too.

I got 81 points for an $8.11 purchase.  $5 for 1250 points is a 4% return (better if you got your PSN credit at a discount).

50 point bonus for buying a $70 game is a bit weak.

I'm curious if to your point the 50 point bonus is just that , bonus + your dollar amount spent... i.e.

$74.56 spent = 745 points + 50 bonus ; if that makes sense?

This is somewhat misleading. No tipped wage worker should be making under the federal minimum wage of $7.25/hour under the Fair Labor Standards Act. If the tipped wage worker doesn't make at least minimum wage after their hourly tipped wage (lowest being $2.13/hour) + tips, their employer has to pay the difference.

Biggest problem with that is the million dollar industry of wage theft where employers lie about how much you made in tips so they can avoid paying that difference, and since there is no paper trail for your cash tips, it's their word against yours. Also doesn't help the other million dollar tax fraud and tax evasion done by tipped workers who report less than their cash earnings to avoid paying the same amount of taxes that any other person has to pay but can't lie to get out of.

Most of these issues could be solved by removing the tipped wage and making all workers make at least minimum wage. They could still receive tips but be guaranteed, at all times, a base wage that doesn't put them below the poverty line. But servers and tipped workers think this current method is helping them. Which is ironic seeing as most tipped wage workers can barely afford rent but lobbying to place blame on customers instead of laws and the industry has been very effective.

They are getting fucked though, but only because tipping exist. The law wouldn't even be here if tipping wasn't expected. Employers would be forced to pay workers more and wouldn't have these loop holes to steal from them. But the restaurant business and industry spends millions a year to keep the tip wage low, minimum wage low and these loop holes here to stay, and they do it all with your tips and donations. Tip if you feel, but the blame isn't on paying customers choosing not to tip more, it's on businesses who actively work to keep workers earning less.

I agree with some of the thoughts and comments here but also think the system is set up to be just gray enough to hose the employees and defend their position of not tipping minimum wage and should vs actuality usually errs to corporation. I also think it’s been so engrained/entrenched the only overhaul at this point would to adopt wide sweeping laws for living wages but like you said - would never fly since corporations spend millions to keep it that way.
- for example, while waiting tables, I got to work Saturday mornings which included mandatory cleaning 9-11 before we opened and no customers were present. I.e min wage of 2.13 in my state at that time,I asked for minimum wage but they said I’d average above that in the day to clean a restaurant.while it should balance out and me making more than $7 an hour , is that before or after I had to tip out bus boy and bartenders too? Usually you have to give them a percentage of your tips too(2%, 5%, etc).
- I also had a few tables of young teenagers who ordered fries, sodas, and dine/dashed because we had no hostess and had to cover that expense, manager wouldn’t override and blamed me while waiting on other tables. (They we’re kids- it was fries and fountain soda. I didn’t care but dumb ruling)
-I agree with your later arguments too and saw that when I lived in Switzerland short term, like other EU countries, a server has a base salary too to live off of and had living wages for their work. Something like that might help overall but also US is not set up that way and we want everything to be convenient, available and cheap.
-TIP was also rooted in To Insure Promptness in English tea houses so that you got your shit fast and efficiently before the next lad did. Just another anecdote of its history

In summary, at least tip the people a thank you or appreciation when you can and if you can afford to give them a decent tip, even better. And for the people handing you your food and bagging your stuff up; even a buck is a thank you that can equate to a lot. That’s it. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk

#14345666 Xbox Series S/X Re-stock Thread

Posted by jmarano7836 on 12 November 2020 - 07:45 PM

If anyone is in Tucson, AZ and looking for a series X shoot me a PM, not trying to scalp mine, but it is the free one from Taco Bell contest with 6 months of ultimate pass.

Honestly, having a colic-y 3 month old, a job promotion with tons more responsibility, and a PS5 ordered with a backlog already is too much. I did crack the box from excitement and booted it up and spent nearly an hour trying to set it up since I haven’t been using my live.com account and you need the app and a non-school (edu) email address; didn’t redeem the code when I realized I already own many titles.

Good luck to everyone hunting in stores and ordering!

For anyone who ordered an ANTOnline bundle:

I contacted them today and was told that they are shipping them on the 12th and it will take 3-5 business days for ground shipping. She said I couldn’t upgrade the shipping.

Thanks for checking for us, patience is a virtue now...just measure and dust/clean where we will unload it I guess.

I got the Pulse 3D headset pre ordered from Amazon. I heard the accessories are shipping out earlier and should be available by October 30th (shipped out earlier than that and arrives on the 30th possibly? If you have Prime?)

Has anyone had any experience with the past headset like the Gold or Platinum models? How good are they? I would like to use this wireless headset also on Xbox Series X and on my PC, from the past headsets, do they work exactly the same or is the quality and features not as good as if you were using the headset on a Playstation console?

I had both the Gold Headset 2x instances (white and black) and then the platinum.... I ended up buying the platinum for 2x friends too so we all could hear Rainbow siege footsteps more clearly. My summaries are here:

Gold Headset: Audio is good, but not great for price if you're an audio-lover. You're paying for convenience of setup on PS4 essentially plus it'll match your colors/controller. The plastic headband build had flaws in hinges and plastic would crack over time from use (even with the most care, I literally placed back in original box and never dropped, flung, or had extreme use. Just general flexing of the plastic from fitting on your head on/off causes the plastic stressors.

Platinum: Audio was better for 3D and with the app dependent on game it also could be tuned slightly. Again - others stated for price you can get better Astros or other headsets; but build quality was vastly improved imho. The steel band on top with the rubber hand helped it fit snug but also not wear out over time. The foam earmuffs have actually started flaking on me from 2+ years of use but the band is solid. The connection via dongle has needed to be reset infrequently (~1x per year?) and once every few months I'll have to unplug the dongle, turn off headset, plug in dongle, turn headset back on and it syncs up nicely again. Other complaints have been it'll drop connection and need to be reset. One of my friends also said his totally stopped working - reset wouldn't fix, nothing would fix.

I'm eager to see the rubber band come back (the inner black band from images) but I'm super skeptical of that white band if its the plastic material again....

#14338028 Win an Xbox Series X at Taco Bell!

Posted by jmarano7836 on 26 October 2020 - 09:17 PM

I can't believe it, but I actually won!

Confirmation email came in at 12:43pm

Now what do we do, wait for a followup email or do they just ship it? This is exciting! I hope more of us CAGs can win.

Congrats fellow CAGer!!! Hope more winners on here happen!

- to answer your question because I had a similar one; according to the rules if you played via website there is nothing further for claiming your prize and having it ship. If you won via text/phone/mobile entry - they send you a link to claim your prize and info.

- I had been wondering why on social media's (IG) I saw "You've claimed your Prize!" versus the winner prize screen I saw, as I guess mobile just has the extra step.

Page 5-6 regarding Section 7 how to claim a prize states Potential winners who entered by the Website do not need to complete any further action to claim their prizes.

Basically, the mobile entry has to adhere to terms, conditions, rules, and also provide address:

Each potential winner who entered by Text Message must visit the Redemption Website and enter his/her Prize Claim PIN and mobile phone number. Each potential winner who entered by Text Message then will be directed to another page where he/she must enter his/her valid e-mail address, complete first and last name (no initials), address (P.O. Boxes are not permitted), city, state, ZIP Code, phone number, date of birth, and confirmation that the entrant has read and agrees to be bound by these Official Rules.

Posted by jmarano7836 on 05 April 2019 - 02:40 PM

I agree with @Chrislaustin - regarding pretty smooth process this morning. While both titles sold out fast, I used 1 browser, added games to cart and my confirmation email came before the 7:01 LRG announcement email that the games were up.

Also posting here - ArcadeDistillery/LucBernard updated via twitter that WarTheater and MechoWars Desert Ashes will be PlayAsia releases and not in the NA cycle. (Probably had issues and didn't submit in time / limits of carts effect too).

TBH I'll be surprised to receive anything physical and knew this was a gamble to begin with. Just wanted to share.

#14085820 PS Vita Deals & Discussions Thread

Posted by jmarano7836 on 19 November 2018 - 06:56 PM

I think this mentality only works if your collection is a couple hundred games. I have about 5000 games... not all of them are mint and it doesn't bug me in the least because I know how cheaply I acquired them over the years compared to their relative worth. Dont get me wrong, I don't buy absolute trash copies but when I'm picking up a ps3 game for $4, I don't care if there's a crease in the artwork or a bent manual as long as it's all there. If I did, I would have missed out on a lot of great deals---or had to pay a lot more on ebay for mint or sealed copies.

I agree and also - there's way to repair some of the damage done. Creases can flattened back with heavy books lighly ironing if it bothers someone that much.

And the vita cases are plastic and resistant to ispropyl-rubbing alcohol cleaning if you remove the artwork manual. I feel like many of us don't 'expect' to find it in mint condition and are willing to put in the time/effort/elbow grease when appropriate.

Dynasty Warriors: Next - complete with case
XBlaze: Lost Memories - complete with case
XBlaze: Code embryo - cart only

Pretty stoked and thanks to all who reported early the CAG16 with promo for ProDays

So has anyone don't a trade and picked up a $10 PSN or Live card?  Is that a real promo?  Don't really want credit but would grab a $10 card if it makes sense.

Want to trade God of War.  $30 base (I bought it used so no $40 coupon).  Is the current promo 40% on top of that (I am Elite).

$42 sounds a bit too good to be true.

For me - the cashier had to add one of the cards to my checkout and the promo automatically added itself. It worked after I asked to try it, and what the best trade in promos were, mentioning this one and it is on the website, and he denied it existed/was active...
