#14517527 Steam+ Deals Mega Thread (All PC Gaming Deals)

That's a steal if I've ever seen one. All of the Metro games are awesome AF.

Even the two Metro Exodus DLC's are really good too.

I bought the saga bundle last night.

With recently buying a gaming PC and new high end monitor, I want to try some new-ish games to see what PC gaming nowadays is all about. I have always been a hardcore collector, borderline anti digital games kind of guy. Though in todays world you almost don’t have a choice anymore.

Would you have some recommendations for some steam games or any PC games for that matter that can bring me back into the PC gaming fold and re-discover my love for it? It’s been ten years since I played on PC.

I would love to have one but my god is that thing overpriced! Maybe after a couple price drops it’ll be worth it but $550… f that!

Agreed. I have a backlog of PS4/PSVR games and not once even hooked up my PSVR to the PS5. Thinking about it now I haven't even use my PSVR since I got the PS5 two years ago...

Looks like the metro game series is about 80% off again.  Seems like it's consistently this price pretty often. $14 gets you the whole series.

Hey, really nice read! You and I have lots of the same games in queue.

I loved AC Origins. I noticed you said you didn't play DLC, but both of those were good. The Hidden Ones was fun because it laid out the beginning of the Assassins organization. The Curse of the Pharaohs delved right in to Egyptian mythology, which it turns out I love. Hell, I've even been doing to walking tour with commentary on the game and Egyptian life that they added to the game.

I'm now looking a little less forward to the next two games based on what you've said. Dishonored 2 is on my list too, so I'm thinking about skipping it for now in favor of some of the Hitman games. But damn if they didn't make it confusing as hell to figure out what games to play with the way you import them all in different ways now. Whoever thought of that shit needs to lose their job.

Here's the thing about assassin's creed... it isn't assassin's creed anymore. I was probably the biggest AC fan over the last 15 years. Odyssey killed it for me. It's not that it's a bad game... it just isn't assassin's creed. Rather it is an action RPG with the AC name slapped on it. Call it anything you want to... just don't label an entirely different genre style gameplay as what the series came from.

Could use some expert level help here fellas...

Used to build PCs two decades ago. Five years back I switched to macOS. Recently bought a new gaming PC and super high end monitor.

That  being said, I was itching to play my old DVD games from 15-20 years ago. Bought a DVD external drive and come to find out because of old DRM, it's impossible to play old games on new PCs. Learned the hard way when one of the discs crashed my entire Windows 11 install and I had to do a restore to recover the OS.

First, is there any way to 'convert' old games from ages ago? Do any studios have any offers or programs besides just re-buying decade old games?

Secondly, I was a hardcore FPS from the original call of duty, battlefield, and also some third person games like Freedom Fighters. What are some modern suggestions for newer games to push my new gaming setup?

cant believe nobody got the Dreamcast at launch, 9/9/99. then again i can believe it since it was a failure and all.

Wow this takes me back... EB games in my local mall, 9/9/99. I was a kid back then, preordered the console and 8 games. Stayed up until 3am playing I believe it was called Hydro Thunder with a racing wheel. The next day went to school, then went back to EB games after to get my 9th game on launch day just to complete the 9s.

Wow it feels weird... just bought my first steam game in probably last 10 years. Last game played was in 2014.

First up for 2023 is command & conquer 4K remastered. Today's gaming world is so odd.... have to wait hours to play a game with 100GB download files, whereas I used to just pop my DVD in and wait a few minutes for installation. Oh I miss those days.

#14513387 Walmart YMMV In Store Clearance Thread I (READ THE FAQs)

Posted by Romeo on 28 December 2022 - 02:16 AM

I scored on a gaming deal I've been tracking for many months now....

ASUS ROG Strix Gaming Desktops, AMD Ryzen 7 5700G, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, 1TB HD & 256GB SSD, Windows 10, Gray, G10DK-WB764

SKU: 797509896 UPC: 195553172578

Saw this on clearance in a walmart store this summer, from $1200 to $700 clearance. Didn't need or want a gaming PC though have been tracking it for a while now. Over xmas a store not too far from me finally dropped it to $489. Scooped up the last one which was in the back room, box mint as could be though covered in dust.

#14512476 Target Clearance Thread XXIV

Posted by Romeo on 22 December 2022 - 04:03 AM

This is an interesting topic I was literally discussing with two friends this morning... digital media and not owning anything anymore.

Quick button topic... new car, new computer. Nothing has a CD player anymore. I don't even know how or where to buy a CD in person. Perhaps that's our generations cassette tape? Then mp3s/digital albums... everything is now pandora, Spotify, Apple Music. Sure it's cool to be able to listen to anything at any time. That is for now, until they start pulling content like Netflix does with movies, or how HBO is removing their own show westworld. Then we have Disney streaming, paramount, direct to digital movies instead of 4K discs...

Now onto video games. I just read about a new game, Chained Echoes. I'd love to play it, it's a game right up my alley. Except it's digital only, with no physical disc planned in the USA. Looks like I'll never play it at this point since I won't buy digital games. A friend said gamepass is a great idea... you can pay $60 for one game and possibly hate it, or may a small monthly fee to play hundreds of games. Call me old school, I still want it in my hands. If this current generation of consoles is the last of physical media, then so be it. I'll build a nice physical collection and ride that out for many years to come.

#14512270 Official Collector's Edition Compilation XII - 2021

Posted by Romeo on 21 December 2022 - 02:02 AM

SquareEnix uses UPS, and from what I can see those are normal rates.

Standard 3-7 days $5.99+

Express 2 days $23.99+

Overnight $31.99+

What's upsetting people is that standard shipping wasn't offered for the Pixel Remaster.

Still extremely scammy of them. Those are personal rates as well, not negotiated corporate rates. And there's no reason they can't offer standard shipping.

Is the FF16 CE sold out? I can add to cart but can't check out, says there's a validation error on my card which doesn't seem right because I used those cards at SE before and they're still valid.

It was a crap show yesterday as bots and scalpers crashed the SE website. People had to 'checkout' dozens of times before orders worked. I doubt it's still up or legitimate today.

#14508724 Target Clearance Thread XXIV

Posted by Romeo on 30 November 2022 - 01:26 PM

Thought about pre ordering Callisto protocol with my $10 off $60 target coupon but target’s usually bad with pre order shipping so gonna try and place an order on the day it actually drops. We should expect them to be sold instores unlike other games like gungrave right? Especially since it’s a fairly popular game

be careful… there’s a review embargo which historically means the game is really bad.

#14508691 Black Friday Videogame 2022 List and General Discussion

Yeah, it sucks that every version but the digital version is discounted. Those running on discless hardware get screwed more often than not on the timely discounts. Hopefully the expansion will make it to GamePass eventually!

that’s sort of the owners fault for purchasing a discless console. It’s widely known physical media often goes on sale when digital is controlled by the company’s branded store. They don’t have a reason to discount digital media.

Heads up for board game players/collectors... many games are still heavily discounted or half off. And today they started a B2G1 sale, which is stacking! Bought a bunch of board games tonight.
