#12719361 Hearthstone: CAG-Style

At what point is it a good idea to start spending gold on Gnomes & Goblins packs and/or solo adventure packs, instead of always buying classic packs?

I've been playing for about two months now (technically registered way back in the beta and the launch, but never really played).  So far, I've opened probably around 20 packs (guessing) and have around 150 human wins.  All classes up to level 10.

Mostly playing Hunter, some Mage.

I'd start saving up Gold now and buy the adventure packs. You only need to get the first wing of Black Rock to get the good Hunter card(Quickshot) but for nax you want to buy all the wings since it has alot of good hunter cards like Mad Scientist which has a deathrattle that puts a secret from your deck into the battlefield.

#12493266 PlayStation TV 50% off at Amazon February 13, 2015

Posted by Sinfulfate on 12 February 2015 - 11:08 PM

I'm in at that price (don't own a Vita). Questions for those that own this already:
1) This earns trophies 'acting' as a Vita, correct?
2) Do we get the free Vita PS+ games each month with this? (Assuming not.)
3) I need to buy a memory card, correct?
4) My PS4 controller will work with it, yes? (Asking because I see it paired with a PS3 controller in that one bundle.)
5) Should this FAQ be added to the OP? (Probs.)

Kind of excited to finally play DanganRompa and Freedom Wars...

1. Yes. The PS TV is a vita without the touch screen so it has all the same features. It just cant play games that require the touch screen.

2. Yes. You can get the free PS plus vita games without having a vita, just download them off the web based PSN store. Will it play all of them? That depends on the game.

3. Yes it needs a memory card.

4. Yes the PS4 controller works with it.

#12444283 Destiny Discussion Thread - Fear The Moon Wizards on September 9th

I had a pretty good haul this past week, Dragons Breathe x2(1 From Nightall and 1 from Crota on hard), Patience and Time(from Deathsinger), The Last Word(from Roc Strike playlist), and Black hammer, Oversoul Edict and Fang of Ir Yut from the raid.  First time I've ever gotten 4 exotics from drops in a week.

Is it just me or are these raid weapons pretty underwhelming? Most of the perks are only useful when fighting certain enemies which you don't even fight all that often. There is only like 6 or so Wizards in the entire raid. I thought they were locking the weapons behind hard mode because they were gonna be really good and they didn't want a lot of people to easily get them but I guess not.

WOW.  That is so stupid.  No wonder Sony said f.u.  So you're paying $60 - 10% discount to rent a brand new game for a year... yeah.... ok, EA...

The sad thing is most people won't read that fine print and won't realize their mistake until their subscription ends.

I dont think that's true. Im not sure who Bestkeeper14 quoted but the last paragraph of the quote was not part of the EA Access ToS. I couldn't find anything in the ToS that says you need an active EA Access subscription to play games you bought with the discount.

Anyone else excited for Super Time Force?  Revision 3 has a nice 50 minute gameplay walk through with the developer and it looks awesome.  Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow.

The bolded are all free either via PS+, Cross Buy, or just Free-to-Play in general. I had to invest nothing extra to get shinier or newer versions of these games. Flower is one of the PS4's best-selling digital games because it's only $7 if you didn't buy it before. I think it's safe to say that nobody has an issue with the option of having new versions of games you may have played before if you're not forced to pay for it. That's one of the best parts of the PS4 lineup so far is the wealth of options of free games via PS+, Cross Buy, and F2P that don't require further investment beyond the cost of the PS4 and PS+ before you start looking at things to buy.

Injustice and The Last of Us includes most, if not all, of the DLC, so these are Ultimate Versions of those games for those that missed them before or those that loved them enough to want better-looking versions. Mercenary Kings and Starbound are two titles that were Early Access on Steam, so they weren't complete/final versions when they first launched and MK was out on PS4 the same day as PC. Rogue Legacy is a fantastic game that console people will enjoy especially since it's Cross Buy across PS4, PS3, and Vita. Awesomenauts fans on console suffered due to bad publisher deals that killed that version early on, so the Assemble! is another upgraded version with a lot more content in it for a great game. Fez is the only game there that falls under the category of "same shit, new platform", but plenty of people didn't play it originally on XBLA/PC.

I'm not sure why it's a big deal that these titles were available in various forms previously. When ID@Xbox gets going, you'll experience the same thing with a lot of indies wanting to bring their already available games to as many platforms as possible, as the early list of announced games is full of them. That's what happens when you offer more freedom to developers and publishers to publish on your platform without dumb restrictions to hold them back.

Wealth of options? 1-2 free indie games randomly selected by Sony per month, F2P games that have been readily available on PS3 or PC, and games I already owned on a past console isn't what I'd call a "wealth of options". I own a PS3 and didn't care for DCU online on there, why would I care about the PS4 version?  I beat Sound shapes on PS vita so having it on PS4 means nothing to me.

I guess you missed my point where I said I wanted new games.  The problem with ports is that some people will have already played those games or weren't interested in them in the first place.  Having ports as an optional thing for people who missed them on PS3 is one thing but Sony is using the ports to pad out the PS4 library because outside of indie games there isn't many new non multiplatform games coming to PS4 anytime soon nor were there many at launch.

I haven't being following the ID@Xbox thing but MS has already given Xbox One owners plenty of new games(Dead Rising 3, KI, Forza 5, Ryse, Plants vs Zombies, Titanfall, Kinect Rivals, etc) so if they want to get some old indie games or port Halo 2 to Xbox One its not that big of an issue.  It becomes an issue when the focus is on ports and not new games like it seems Sony is doing with the PS4 at least now anyway maybe that will change after E3.

Well  yeah the same can be said about X1 lol.

Not true. The problem with the PS4 is ports. The Xbox One does have a lot of cross gen games but I have no problem with that because for the most part they come out the same time.  This is not the case for PS4.  PS4 gets ports of games months if not years after they came out on other platforms.  I didn't own titanfall for a year on 360 before it came for Xbox One like I did/could for a lot of the games the PS4 has/will have(Injustice, DCU online, Fez, Mercenary Kings, Awesomenughts, Rouge Legacy, Starbound, Sound Shapes, Flower, Last of Us, Warframe, etc)

Honestly, that's true of any platform anymore since third party exclusives are mostly a thing of the past.

You just get the handful of first party exclusives (or for PCs stuff like MOBAs, RTS, Sim game etc. that don't often come to consoles) and other wise it's all just multiplatform stuff.

So unless you're a super hardcore gamer, with a ton of free time to play games, I just don't see the point of owning multiple consoles any more. I struggle to keep up with the games that interest me on a single platform so I've been shedding consoles (sold 360 last summer, Wii U recently, 3DS soon probably) so I can just focus on the big games I want to play on one platform and not get weighed down by a backlog of games I'll never realistically get through. That ruins the fun of gaming for me since I'm not a collector type and hate having stuff unplayed/watched etc. on the shelf.

Well to some extent sure but the Xbox One has a surprisingly large amount of new games.  I don't care about exclusive games, its new games that I want.  Xbox One has a good amount of new games and I don't care if some of them are also available on 360 or PC.  If I wanted them on 360 or PC I would have bought them for those platforms.

Honestly I bought my PS4 on a whim since I had the money and I was going to be buying one eventually.  Like I said my issue is with ports, a lot of the games the PS4 has I already own because they came out years ago on other platforms.   This was not the case with my Xbox One.

Ah yes the fallacy that the PS4 has no games, except the PS4 currently has a larger library than the Xbox One and likely always will.  I don't want to start a list war, but what is so great about the Xbox One library in comparison to the PS4 offering?  And just because the upcoming PS4 games don't appeal to you doesn't mean they won't draw an audience especially when there is very little releasing on the Xbox One and the PS4 will be getting the superior releases of games released on both.  Also will you be one of those Xbox fan hypocrites knocking the PS4 ports, but when Halo 2 Anniversary is announced be acting like it's such an incredible addition to the Xbox One library?  As for E3, Microsoft better bring it, because they and Nintendo have to, they have no choice.  But hopefully it isn't like last years where it's mainly 3rd party game trailers especially for games that are years from release like Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain and Witcher 3 or teaser trailers for games that are years away from release like Sunset Overdrive, D4, Quantum Break and Halo 5, or a trailer for a cancelled game like the black tusk teaser.  In hindsight last years Microsoft E3 wasn't really all that great especially when you add in the Xbox One price announce that sucked all the air out of the room.

Varied high quality exclusives that aren't ports.  I just bought a PS4 this week and the current library is pretty bad if the PS4 isn't your only console. What the PS4 really lacks is new games.  Most of the games are multiplatform or ports of games that came out months/years ago on other platforms.

I was looking for a more recent list of games coming out within the next few months but thanks anyways. I feel like overall I'd get more value out of getting a PS4 over upgrading my gaming PC but after I play Infamous it wouldn't get much use after that for awhile and I'd still have to keep my PS3 around for Kingdom Hearts 2.5HD remix.  Maybe I'll just wait.

My apologies, I should have put "output in native 1080p" in my original post.  Did you mean that the Xbox One is upscaling to 1080p?  I keep hearing things like "Ryse is 900p, etc", so I wonder how big of a difference it is between native and upscaled 1080p.

I agree - releasing the new Plants vs Zombies or any game on Xbox One (maybe any game on any platform) around the time of Titanfall is going to be a mistake and will be lost in the TF hype.

Ya the Xbox one upscales all games to 1080p.  The numbers people are talking about like 900p for Ryse and 792p for Titanfall are native(rendering) resolutions not what they will display on your tv.  There isn't really much of a noticeable difference between something  like 900p upscaled to 1080p vs native 1080p since you have to consider  the size of your display and how close you are to to your tv.

Right now I think Microsoft's only problem with the Xbox One is the price.  Being $100 more is a tough sell when both consoles have mostly the same library of games.  Only the hardest of the "hardcore" care about how many ps the games have and like Cheapy and Shipwreak these gamers will most likely end up just buying both eventually.
