Just posting the exciting conclusion to my eBay return adventure with the mystery region CE that appeared to be US region from all pics and description. Uneventful, got my money back, and surprisingly the negative feedback I gave is sticking so far as well. Waste of time overall, but if my feedback makes one person double check a previous purchase or prevents similar in the future, worth the hassle.

Yep - credit has been taken. Game as well... anyone know if we get the free poster with online pre-orders? Does it come in a huge box or rolled up?
If it works the same as previous games with posters, you take your receipt into a store and they will give you a poster there.

GRAPEVINE, Texas, July 06, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) (“GameStop” or the “Company”) today announced the continued expansion of its North American fulfillment network and entry into a lease of a 530,000 square foot facility in Reno, Nevada, which is expected to be operational in 2022. The Company’s new presence in Reno, Nevada will position it to grow product offerings and expedite shipping across the west coast. This expansion follows GameStop’s entry into a lease of a 700,000 square foot facility in York, Pennsylvania.
Cool to see them spending money on being better.
Unfortunately it’s just a facility for opening and refurbishing new games to sell them as GameStop new

My ratchet and clank pre owned with a $30 new game didn’t come with original case and the order isn’t showing up on my order history. Would I still be able to return it? Came with a receipt in the package tho says picked date 6/17
It’s fine, just bring the receipt. You shouldn’t need to, but can try to bring up tracking to show it was delivered within the week if possible.
I dealt with similar but for an opened 'new' game. Ordered it online but it just came with the game in a sleeve marked 'new'. Went to the store and explained that I want a new game, not a used opened one. I know it's not that stores fault but I want my money back or an exchange. Girl got very angry with me saying it's open she can't take it back, but explained again the situation and got a manager involved. Manager had no problem and said it happens all the time, the customer isn't wrong for wanting what they paid for.
I would have went with the online option after that but wanted my money back sooner than later.
This is the worst part of that policy. Two people with a normal reaction to the situation having to argue and get angry over it. Any other store, you would be laughed out the door trying to return a new video game disc only in a paper sleeve. If she was new, that’s a normal reaction, I doubt that is in the training program. All the liability and poor customer interactions this leads to, that’s why I think there is something more to selling open as new than just no way to solve the problem of how to display and sell the last copy in each store. There are many better and very simple solutions.

That's fair, but where you going to find a CIB Chrono Trigger + official Nintendo Power Strategy guide in 10 years? The prices for these games are only going up. I only collected what I played, so there isn't a lot of junk. Though sometimes I come by games and am like, "WTF. I own Ogre Tactics 64?!" lol
If forgers can reproduce hand painted artwork that can fool experts and most methods of dating, I’m sure they could do so for a cardboard box that no one is going to bother checking. There is already a big problem with fake Pokémon carts, and many others. These crappy reproductions everyone knows about, but part of me thinks there is also a more coordinated effort to both drive up the price and trickle out releases of higher quality CIB reproductions that don’t get caught. When WATA grades a sealed CIB game, they have no way to check anything inside, right? That is perfect for fraud, and other than holding it as an investment, who gives a crap about owning a sealed game, it’s not gamers buying the biggest ticket items for hundreds of thousands, it’s investment firms. If there ever is a news article about someone’s $100,000 sealed Mario game turning out to be fake, watch prices plummet. It’s happened before with sports cards. It doesn’t even have to be true really, just the story and perception spreading is all that would be needed to pull the rug. The market becoming flooded with high quality reproductions that no can tell the difference, that would do it too. Even an official re-release of the classic version of a game like chrono trigger on modern consoles, in a package with a strategy guide and a reproduction box, something like they did for fire emblem, that could make prices for the original drop.

Guess the Castlevania preorders are done anyway, makes the decision for me. Looked one more time, yeah, that steelbook is ugly. I got the collection for $5 digitally anyway, not interested in the extras for more than $50 or so, and wouldn’t spend more than $30 for a physical copy of the game. I can just wait for next gen’s castlevania super anniversary collection. Will see if I can resist the symphony of the night re-release as well…but it’s the same freaking game I already own physically for ps1, I don’t need it again…

To buy the $174.99 Castlevania Collection or not...
Do you like tiny cardboard boxes and michael’s shadow box craft displays? I’m in the same spot. I’m not an LRG regular at all, I usually just pretend they don’t exist (for the sake of my wallet) and will probably continue to do so in this case. Was thinking about it, but that is an absurd markup.

Just had a GameStop employee, possibly a store manager training someone, casually mention they sell nice looking trades as new. She said that in relation to G2L, but what’s the difference if it’s used less than 48 hours or not, it was opened and used outside their store. Just confirming what we already knew, but there it is. Messed up, especially during COVID. I’m sure the sketchier stores do that all the time whether it’s G2L or not. Wonder if it’s corporate policy or just an ambitious or bad store manager trying to make their numbers look better than their peer’s. The generosity of their G2L program makes a little more sense now, it’s a new game, they are still getting plenty of sales for awhile. Just sending out our used G2L trades to unsuspecting customers thinking they are buying new, so absolutely no loss to them, and they still have the original customers money since the return is in trade credit. Probably helps their books as well, making it look like additional sales. Still a good offer for the original customer, but at the expense of everyone buying new later and instead getting G2L returns.

I’m not gonna crap on anyone that does, but if you know you are going to G2L Mario Golf or another game, the offer is a really good offer, done by no other companies, still costing GameStop money, even without the $10 price match hit. It’s their own terms and rules, your free to do so, but the more that do it just lessens the chance of future G2L for everyone going forward. It sounds like getting price match is a pain for the employees as well, or they make it a painful process to get honored. I don’t think it’s fraud, but I think it stretches the offer a bit far…advising restraint and “good enough” in our modern age though, who am I kidding, all’s fair in money and war, don’t hate the player hate the game, plenty of fine shitty promoted outlooks to choose from to justify much worse out there.

Was able to return the 3 bundled games and controller for the disc version of the ps5 I ordered no questions asked. Probably helped that the employee who did it was newish and not too bright. I've taken advantage of her multiple times already lol.
Nice thing to say about someone that did you a favor

Correct. It was stated previously in the thread that it's YMMV.
Also, tap is not fine. Are you at least filtering? I'm assuming not, since drinking unfiltered tap water would explain a lot about your post and the CAG community.
Can you quote where or you just making a low effort assumption that it was? Of course YMMV is the assumption with people talking about the different versions of the offer they got, but I didn’t see anyone mention the details, or anyone else saying they got no offer. Wanted to make sure I was looking in the right spot and confirm no tricks to getting an offer. Your assumption that I don’t use a water filter is wrong as well. This was an odd post to elicit catty insults, and all the false assumptions don’t do much good for your crusade against the CAG community. Something I do have mixed feelings on sometimes, but thanks for the reminder to ignore your thoughts on the matter.
