#13931787 Best Buy Ad 1/21-1/27

Btw does anyone find it odd that the biggest selling console (that no one could find until Christmas), gets NO sales whatsoever , like this week it’s not even mentioned that is there, let alone an accessory or even a card or shitty game.....idk

I’m all about this switch now but I want some sales Nintendo

As someone who works at a Bestbuy I'm just going to warn you that Nintendo stuff just about never goes on sale for their home consoles. You'll get random third party games all the time like azure striker gunvolt (which sells out so that's good) but first party games and the console itself won't go on sale for quite some time. Only reason the Wii u got deals was because it tanked. The switch is selling too well to justify putting it on sale from a business standpoint.

Gamestop still doesn't have a release date for the Wii U version of Zelda.

It's the same day as the switch release....

#13408605 Best Buy Black Friday in July Sale

Posted by Rohman on 21 July 2016 - 06:24 AM

Winter Soldier is a great movie. This sale not so much now that BB is being dumb by finding a loophole in their sales to negate our GCU perks.

I can't wait till they start calling not heir sales a "Black Friday" type so we get screwed and never get our extra discounts.

Omg you people are so stupid.

I'll space this out so people can read it better.

For an example Mario maker cost 29.99 with the sale right now.

If you are gcu the price is 23.99.

This is the price after 20% learn how to do math.

The website is automatically showing people the discounts before they get added to your cart.

Gcu does not stack against itself or it would be an infinite loop.

In conclusion

Read sale prices then see if it's already applied BEFORE complaining that the discount isn't working.

Or actually read the thread to see how everyone with grey matter in their heads is seeing the discount just fine.

But for the next 20 pages w/e idiots going to be idiots I suppose just wanted to vent.

What's everyones experience with in store pickup? First time doing it and it's been 2 hours with no confirmation / pick up is ready email. Does it usually take this long?

As a bby inventory employee who has to do the "picks" to find items to either ship out or put into the store pickup area there was a lot of traffic today and it did take several hours to get some harder to find items done because of the store being busy as well. It's only the elite Early access too so it's only going to get worse. When the floodgates open so to speak.

To give you an idea of how bad it can get on cyber Monday we literally had over 500 items to find for over 24 hours because the list gets knocked down but builds back up. That shit takes time to find and shipped items add up to extra time as well because we have to pack em. My guys were there for our shift for over 12 hours just to ship out over 300 things and didn't finish before we left.

So in a nutshell yeah it can take a while on days that are "good" sales like a black Friday or cyber Monday but on a normal day it should be less then 15 minutes. Unless you're that guy who orders the last clearanced out Kate spade iPad case for $4 lol.

#13321294 Uncharted Collection $19.99 ($15.99 w/ GCU) at BestBuy

Posted by Rohman on 09 May 2016 - 05:00 PM

Get it while its hot!

(Meanwhile my copy from early Sunday morning still hasn't shipped yet).

Just a pro tip for the future from a bby inventory employee stuff doesn't ship on the weekends except on very rare occasions or the holidays. The rare occasions are because ups sends their c teams to do shipments on the weekends ( usually like one box gets dropped off). And if they don't know wtf they're doing they'll ask to pick up our shipment.

Never even on holidays has it been done on a Sunday (at least in this nor Cal store) and the stuff gets picked up to be "shipped" after 3 typically. So depending on where it's coming from your order will say it's shipped anywhere from 12-4 on Monday if you ordered it Friday night through Monday morning.

#13250806 No Man's Sky: Limited Edition PRE-ORDER is BACK IN-STOCK BestBuy and Amazon

Posted by Rohman on 16 March 2016 - 01:27 PM

Its also not like pre-ordering is a guarantee. While I'm generally against pre-orders on regular games pre-ordering a collectors edition is just ensuring you have the ability to buy one if you choose you want one. I can cancel it at anytime regardless of if it actually sells out and even if I let it go through and get the game if I see reviews are horrible I can return it. No loss in doing so. Just makes sense to me.

No you're wrong a pre order is like selling your life away the man with a gun pointed at me forcing me to make sure I pick up my copy and open it right away without looking at any reviews said so.

No kidding, people hate on game site reviews - but then they will go put down money months ahead of time based purely on game site's word it is going to be good and videos that are specifically made to highlight the good stuff and not the bad.

The Spore comparison could be very telling. People (including me) bought in on the endless possibilities and plunked money down on what turned out to be a fairly decent but pretty mundane game. Everything on NMS leads me to believe that it has possibilities, but it might end up mundane as well in practice once you get over the initial wow factor. The developer doesn't even really have a track record of proven history.

Pre-orders made sense years ago, when specific release dates weren't often known and initial shipments often were not large enough for big games to cover the demand. I still get it for these Limited Editions for some games, but for the most part publishers feel they can just throw in a few meager items, some DLC and maybe a soundtrack (who knows if the music is good enough for that from previews) and art book. Right now when you pre-order you are telling a publisher you are willing to pay full retail sight unseen for a game based on hype - that's not a good thing to tell them or make them try harder to live up to the hype or even finish the game in order to meet the date.

Even on Amazon, where pre-ordering gets you a discount with Prime they recognize that it is good business to let customers find out from consumer word of mouth before committing since they extend the period for two weeks after a game comes out.

That said, I am guilty of this as well for some games I know I am going to buy anyways on Day 1. I know it is hypocritical, but I know that I'm not going to wait on Dark Souls 3 - I got free release day delivery for it. I may get burned, but as this is the 5th game in the spiritual series, it is a pretty good bet.

I get what you're saying but the thing a lot of people forget to mention us you can always back out of a pre order for games. Unless you shop at some really shady store you can get your money back.

That's why I pre ordered this one I'm a sucker for CE and just in case this game is any good I want to have this option available. That being said I don't think it looks that great based on what I've seen but who knows until the game is out.

I made a thread over in Deal Requests and Advice almost a week ago but it hasn't garnered any attention. Is anyone here a BB employee? I want to see how much I can save on these types of deals per week since before I got the job at Best Buy I regularly did a lot of my shopping there too, I have GCU as well so I wanna know how that will stack with my employee discount too

That would be double dipping so no it doesn't stack. If you try it just use your numbers and gcu and it will give you the better deal of the two.

#12948083 PREORDER: The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel - LIONHEART EDITION - PS...

Posted by Rohman on 01 October 2015 - 06:59 PM

Will there be any console deals that benefit from GCU over the winter? That's a big selling point for me as to whether or not I buy GCU.

It only applies to new games for 20% off and used games for 10% of and 10% trade in bonus.

If you're using this site you should have it at this point. When it was $120 it was an investment, at $60 I'd say it was fair. Now at $30 it's a fucking steal. With this purchase you're already saving $8 so it's only $22 more and that will easily pay itself off even if you don't buy games the day they come out and wait for sales to stack.

You're 1 person. This should be a thread on the bb forums with everyone posting their similar experiences. It's unacceptable to receive games that are banging around inside an unsealed case.

As a best buy employee I can confirm that ps4 and to a lesser extent ps3 games come lose in their cases all the time. Ever since the launch of the console I've noticed it and for some reason it doesn't happen with Xbox games its only playstation ones. I've told my boss several times but it's never going to get fixed. It usually only happens around the launch of a game that we get a lot of loose games in cases and it sorts itself out later. Unfortunately my boss says sell it and if a customer complains we'll swap it out which sucks. If I have to mail it out I use a secure one to save the customer the hassle because I know I'd be pissed if I got a game like that.

#12854527 Xbox One Limited Edition Halo 5: Guardians Console- Available to Preorder....

Posted by Rohman on 08 August 2015 - 06:03 AM

I have a question for those of you who are selling their Xbox Ones or have already sold it to upgrade to a different one. Is it possible to transfer your game saves to an external hard drive?

I sold mine to my nephew earlier this summer and didn't see an option to transfer my data. The cloud storage didn't work when I tried to download my GTA V save on my sister's Xbox One. My nephew still has the game saves and I'm hoping to transfer my stuff to a flash drive or external hard drive.

Yes you can. When I got an external drive for more space the options are either copy or transfer for each game. Only issue I ran into was any game that was in the middle of being updated couldn't be transferred before it's updated.

Cross train sales associates with minor merchandising associates job functions (updating prices) And the store could stay updated more often with more knowledgable sales associates being able to push sale products to foot traffic.

As a BB employee I agree with this statement. Sales team does nothing on their downtime unless their supervisor or manager is watching.

Yes im EP too, the shipping is free and expedited, but that does me no good when shit comes in damaged half the time. I do question wy you call CS though. That takes way too much time. I just reorder the item then return the damaged item on the new order. Way easier. Just sucks when the re-order comes in damaged. Ive had to do that 4 times with a game once, it was insane.

Dont get me started on loose disks. Ive started doing most PS4 games for in store pickup because they almost always arrive loose when i order them from BBY. Even in store theyre loose a lot it seems. I dont order Amiibos but i got some messed up skylanders from them before.

but in store pickup gets stickers plastered everywhere, and for pre-orders its nicer having it arrive at your house. They relly need to get their crap together. I dont like Amazon but i dont have to deal with this crap with them. I've also had some of those login issues myself lately by the way

Good to hear im not the only one having issues but im not seeing any of you mention getting flat out wrong items. Guess im alone i that one.

Idk about broken amiibos but I'm glad you mentioned loose ps4 discs. I work at a bb and I swear whenever we get a shipment of games that are ps4 almost half of them are loose in their cases. Idk Wtf is going on at Sony's production but every time I get a box they are jacked. And before someone says its ups mishandling them these games are getting here the same way as the Xbox one games and are sometimes in the same box like mkx was but only the Sony discs are loose it makes no sense.
