Trophy card check.

Started Nioh last night, and beat the first boss. Good game so far. If I had to compare it to one of the From Software titles based on the little I've played, I would say it's closer to Bloodborne than any of the Souls games I've played. It has a Diablo-style loot drop system that was pretty helpful through the first level. Every time I died I would get better gear the next time through the area that eventually helped me progress.

Control setup is a little different from the Souls games. I kept wanting to press Circle to roll and R1 to attack. X is the dodge button and attack is Square and Triangle, so far.

Looking forward to playing it more.

Well, no luck with my phone charging while powered down.  I swapped the battery out of my wife's 5c long enough to confirm that the replacement battery wasn't part of the problem; the phone indicated the cable was not certified and wouldn't charge the battery from my wife's phone.  Concluded that some component on the logic board associated with the charge port must have shorted out when the water got inside.

Went to Sprint store on Friday to get a new phone, but the associate informed me that since I had the 'Find My iPhone' option enabled under iCloud settings he could not transfer my current number to the phone.  No problem, right.  Went home, re-installed the wife's battery long enough to disable the option and do a quick iCloud backup and then just decided to order the phone from Sprint online so I wouldn't have to go back to a store.

New phone was supposed to arrive, yesterday.  Checked UPS tracking before I left work, and confirmed phone had been delivered to the house.  Got home, no phone.  Called UPS, called Sprint, and both confirm tracking indicates phone delivery to house.  UPS is now investigating.

I think someone's trying to tell me I don't need a cell phone anymore.

Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha! :whee:

iPhone is back up and running.  Screen is streaking in spots, but I can live with it for now.  I got the new screen today, but I'll give it a few days and make sure everything else works good before I replace it.

Spoke to soon on that one; and has it really been three days since my last post.  The phone wouldn't charge (it wouldn't even recognize a cable being plugged in) so I quickly ran done the new battery; it was only at about 25%.  I ended up turning it off and ordering a replacement charge port assembly.  It came today, and I just finished installing it.  Good news is the phone recognizes when I plug a cable into it.  Bad news is the phone says any Apple cable I plug into it is not certified; fucking Apple and their stupid MFi bullshit.  I'm trying to see whether or not it will charge with the cable plugged in and the phone powered off; apparently that is a possible work-around.  If all else fails, I'll buy a new phone.  It's been fun replacing parts piece by piece and getting it to work as it does.

iPhone update: Got the new battery yesterday.  Popped it in and the phone fired up.  Horizontal and vertical lines quickly appeared on the screen; google search indicates caused by moisture in the display.  There was still a good amount of water inside the phone when I opened it up to replace the battery.  I brought it to work today, and am going to try and dry out the components with some alcohol washes.

The Discord app does work on my work PC, I just haven't been at my desk much this week.  Started up some new equipment in the plant, so I've been outside just about all week; this is where having a phone would be nice.

Having no cell phone sucks.  My work computer doesn't particularly seem to like Discord.  I can open the web page, but once I click on the PSNOT group it hangs up.  Stupid work computer.

I can confirm without a doubt that an iPhone 5C does not like to take a dip in a swimming pool.

Trying the bag of rice trick, and I've ordered a new battery from Amazon.  Fingers crossed.

I don't understand why men think they need to continue their name with boys etc. Why do I care about my name when I'm dead?

Does this question stem from your upcoming skydiving session?

Kids are the only things that will ever give you unconditional love besides a dog.

Another thing kids and dogs have in common is they will both wake you up way to early on a Saturday morning. I think it's part of that whole unconditional love thing.

You get a pretty big scaling bump when it changes from +4 to S at +5. Also, what's your current Dex, you get the biggest boost to damage from 20-29, then a slight drop off from 30-49, and pitiful gains after 50. Also one of the benefits of forging without an auxiliary effect is you can enchant it. That means either coating it in either sticky wife stuff (magic damage) or one of the flame resins (fire damage); or buffing it with cursed weapon for 1.5X physical damage, or enchant weapon / light weapon for magic damage.

Owl, I didn't think you were married.  What do you know about sticky 'wife' stuff?

Yeah it's two-hand touch. You expect a bunch of millennial advertisng people to tackle each other? I mean a lot of the girls that play on the teams I wouldn't mind tackling, but c'mon son!

I played in a flag football league for a while in my early to mid 30s. It was a lot of fun; especially going up against some of the younger teams in the league and watching them get frustrated losing to a bunch of older guys. In those games there tended to be a lot more 'inadvertent' contact.

I decided to give it up after watching my brother-in-law blow out his knee in one game. He had to have reconstructive surgery and was out of action for quite some time. I finished out that season, and now only play in our father/son pickup games. I decided the risk wasn't worth the reward.

I do still play in basketball and softball leagues. It's a lot of fun and a good stress relief as long as you don't take it too seriously.

Baseball! And football's not bad.

You should be watching the College World Series if you already aren't. The first four games over the weekend we're all really good.

- Oklahoma St. starter extended his scoreless innings streak to 27+ in a 1-0 win over The Gauchos.
- Arizona put up a three spot in the first to beat Miami 5-1; once the Miami starter settled down, the pitching on both sides was really good.
- TCU hits a 3-run homer in the top of the ninth, and holds on to beat Texas Tech 5-3.
- Coastal Carolina upsets the top seeded Gator's 2-1 in a fantastic game last night.

Miami vs UCSB in the first elimination game at 2p today.
