#14534531 The 2023 Gamestop Thread

I have never seen a pro day or week with a sale that actually brought me in to buy something. It's always headsets, collectables, and toys. The video games they put on sale are never priced low enough for me to bite. They usually relatively new releases that will hit those prices by the end of the year anyway.

I would have wanted it at launch. Same thing happened with Metroid Dread. Couldn't get a collectors edition so I ended up not getting the game because I don't pay resellers. I ended up picking up the standard edition on sale for $20 or so. Still haven't played the thing, probably never will tbh. Like if I can't get my hands on it at launch I usually just move on with life. Too many games in the backlog. $70 is a lot for a game too. So I'll probably pay for Zelda once it's $40 or $50. Just wasn't meant to be.

I'll be playing SF6 in a couple weeks anyway. Then FF16.

I’m not a big fan of open world games but I bought totk on impulse. For those who have played it, is there a linear storyline that I can stick to and not get too bogged down in side quests?

Honestly love games that just tell me where to go if I’m unsure (like bioshock 2 and dead space) and enjoy the story.

If its anything like the first one, you know exactly where you need to go and gain all the tools you need to get there in the tutorial section. In that sense, the whole game is a side quest since you technically don't have to do any of it. Although you'd benefit from doing it by gaining resources, armor sets, heart containers, fun times, lore, ect. Its a game that rewards your exploration, but you aren't forced to do it. The game can be as challenging as you want it to be in that sense.

I honestly had better luck getting a sealed game when buying pre-owned than new when outside of immediate launch window.

Totally anecdotal but I dropped by both Best Buy and GameStop yesterday and just asked about PSVR 2.

Best Buy said they haven't heard anything about it but the employee said he thinks they will get it in stock once it drops.

The GameStop employee said they hadn't heard anything about it at all either.

I find that a bit odd considering it comes out in 2 days.

That Ozzy video above also doesn't say anything about getting it from Sony direct or anything, just that it launches on the 22nd.

And after you said it wasn't a Sony direct exclusive because you talked to some guy that worked at best buy. Trying to make me out to look like a dummy when I was stating straight facts.

I think the marketing had a pretty big problem. No backwards compatibility between games, sold exclusively through the Sony store and by invite only. Games appear to be digital only so that will make fore even less marketability when average consumers won't even know the thing exists. Average consumers will never see the hardware or software anywhere they shop. And even if they do come across it, they will likely look at the price and if they adopted the original psvr, will feel content with their original purchase enough to not want to buy the new version. Or be so turned off from the prospect of rebuying all new psvr titles that they'll feel cheated in their investment.

I went to 5 stores. They all refused my online preorder for the tarot cards because they only have enough for in store preorders. I'm just gonna return my order. It's going on the backlog anyway. I can wait for a price drop.

These CE prices are getting out of control. Between this and SF6 for $250. Come on now...

Perhaps PS5 less accessible than PS4?

Sent from my SM-N970U1 using Tapatalk

Usually has to do with the fact most PS4 games upgrade for free the ps5 version. And the ps5 version obviously only works on ps5.

Kinda glad I didn't order God of War through Sony now after seeing this. Good luck to those who did. Hopefully they do better.

In store where, GameStop?

Yes. $25 down for Jotnar. Maybe extreme but its up on the website now anyway. But probably better in store to avoid porch pirates or mangled box delivery.

Now when the fbi case worker calls to collect my backed taxes and asked to be paid in apple gift cards, I can at least get a little something out of it.

Thanks for the reminder.. do you know if the GameStop gift card diminishes in value in any way over time?

Just make sure you spend it before they go bankrupt.

Not by any humans.
