I tried Star Wars Squadrons because it's Star Wars Day and it's part of a punch card (if it works). This might not be for me. I keep getting lost trying to find enemy fighters. Left stick left / right rotates the cockpits while right stick changes view. Can't tell from radar whether enemies are above or below. Had it set on the Pilot difficulty (second lowest). I think a 3rd person, behind ship view would work better for me, but that's not available.

I am surprised that Microsoft has never made an Xbox fighting game. I don't mean Killer Instinct, but a Smash Brothers type with characters like Master Chief, Arbiter, other Spartans, Marcus Fenix, Kait Diaz, other Gears of War heroes and villains, Jack of Blades, other characters from Fable, the Rare characters like Banjo-Kazooie, Joanna Dark, Conker, Kameo, Battle toads, or even a character like the Forza Motorsport driver.

With levels inspired by games, like Forza levels where cars race through sporadically, or Gears of War levels where Windflares, or Kryll, or Razorhail occur, Halo levels where Drop Pods, or Ghosts, or Banshees disrupt your battles.

It just seems like a way to enforce their branding of properties and characters. Plus there's definitely plenty of skins for these characters for players to earn or buy.

One way to tell people just vote for the top option in the daily poll in MS Rewards :

I wish they made that color green a regular option for the controllers. Call it Live Green.

Have you already played Half-Life 2? If you have, then probably not. If you have not, the full game and the 2 additional episodes are a good length and have great gameplay. Episode 2 has an exciting ending battle.

As for Team Fortress, you likely will not find games, or they will be hacked lobbies that may or may not be fun. There is an issue with Team Fortress where if you enter a hacked lobby it saves the mods to your hard drive until you shut down the game, so if you host a match you will carry forward those mods from a prior match.

They're fun games if you have not played them, and are great value. But if you have already played them, you likely will not go back to them.
