#11861737 Steam Deals Thread V12 ~ Summer Sale on Now!

Posted by DemonKysho on 22 June 2014 - 10:10 AM

The FF MMOs are still subscription based, right?

Yeah, but you get 30 days when you buy it.

Enough time to get bored of it.

As a long time player of XI and beater of XIV, they are really night and day mmo's. I can't be impartial when it comes to XI when i say i love it more then XIV.

XI is is 10 year old RPG and some if not most of it's mechanics are dated, but have options that most mmo's then and now still don't have. XIV is way more streamlined and modern with warping to points, queue's for parties and raids, very solo friendly. Keep in mind 10 years does not mean stagnation, they made massive overhauls which i could go into paragraphs about. I still feel that when i do play XI, every moment is an adventure.

I wish i could of got a solid group together to play XI for a month or two and beat the game. I doubt this is the forum for that sort of thing.

I think XI always had the better community, even though it had its consoles vs pc vs more consoles, racism and purists that crunched numbers. There were always those amazing moments where you got people to come together during the thick of all this and do something completely unexpected.

Co-operate

When you have people that could barely speak to due to different languages, in a thrown together party and make it work. Grind for levels, complete missions or explore new areas. It was a thing of beauty.

My fate is similar to most MMO players, everyone i once knew is gone. If i could go back with what i know now i probably could of kept my friends together.

Sure i liked XIV, but i think there are very few moments in peoples lives where they really put things close to their hearts.

Too Long? Too Freaking bad, but since im a nice person. Its just a guy reminiscing about a simpler time and debating whether or not to pick up state of decay,

If I buy Batman Origins ($7.49) and the Season Pass ($4.99), will I own all of the skins and singleplayer stuff?

$12.48 for everything?

I don't think everything is worth 12.48, maybe if it was 10 flat. Then again, it probably would be $10 too much. It was a ok game, but unless they patched the majority of crippling/humorous bugs i don't think its worth it.

Story wise it would be worth a play through, being a batman fan your gonna get a lot out of it. Troy Baker did a solid performance as the joker and Roger Craig Smith is a passable young batman. Honestly though, i miss the hell out of TAS Alfred.

If your gonna play it now buy it, if its going into your backlog i say pass.

Also never played multiplayer, not because i chose not too. It's that matchmaking was impossible. As a joke i let the multiplayer queue up while i played another game. After 2 hours i just laughed the game off.

#11723219 Humble Bundle Thread

Interesting bundle, i have read a few of these comics and they are worth a read. The price is a little ridiculous for this set. Also i have emotionally dis-invested in the walking dead. I would be stupid to continue reading and hoping that this series is gonna end well, its not.

Issue 100 was the last i read, someone died (brutally) and a little piece of me died with it.  I stopped watching the show too, i'm not saying it's bad but i just didn't care for that version of the story. Not to mention i feel a few characters got miscast, i accept that is Robert Kirkman's directors cut version of his comic. Telltaie's games are also good, but most of you already know.

Excuse me i just made myself sad during all of this.

Obligitory

I remember sinking 50 hours into Blitzball alone, once you have the jecht shot the game is over. I was a little bitter though, since i my first couple blitz matches i got stomped. It's unfortunate that both games aren't on the disc, i could wait for a digital sale.

Even though it ages well i wish they would remake Xenogears and put some money into fleshing out the second disc.

Spoiler about 7 and Xenogears

No.
Yes.
Yes.

Advance warning- there's some pretty sizeable updates to install before you can actually play (10gig+ I think?). So if you're even considering playing it, I'd start the reinstall process early.

Also of note, they've unified their games under the Battle.Net launcher now which is kinda cool. The new card game, Hearthstone, is free and fun.

Is it terrible that i am waiting on a lower price for a dota 2 item. I don't even hardcore dota, yet i still nabbed glados cheaply. What i am waiting for is the single greatest courier i have ever seen.

Cluckles the brave.

Neat little thread you got going over here. I don't think i ever had an issue buying a bunch of stuff i wasn't into for the right price. When i had a steady income, i would get that neat collectors edition every once in a while. I think working retail had a big factor in that,/ It's like i work all day around games, why would i spend the little time i had on games. Now that part of my life is pretty much dead and buried, there is a whole other set of personal reasons that i am not gonna get into why i may have built up a small mountain of games.

Most of that stuff is pretty much on steam, humble bundles and what not. I didn't buy them for the sake if buying them. I could see myself enjoying all of it. Gaming is still a big part of my life and has starting giving me the feelings i used to have, which i had not for some time.

I have focused on the stuff that has trophies/achievements. Not that i am starving for being rewarded for something i normally do, it's just that stuff like that make it obvious that i have beaten or played the game. You used to have to convince someone you beat the game or did super secret thing, where as "Look at this list of digital certificates i have". That and you can compare and look at it without asking a bunch or the same questions over and over.

I had this giant list, i think i might of made a dent in it. PS+ sort of throws a monkey wrench in it some times. One moment you can be "That's one down" then someone throws one at you, its almost perpetual. I wish i didn't discover psnprofiles and that stupid little overall completion percentage. I don't want to get 100%, i just didn't like it being it the 30's.

Just having finished Modern Warfare 3 to my shame cause of said completion percentage, I'm trying to figure out what to jump into next.

Augh, I just got Burnout Paradise from Leaptrade last week and I missed the free awesome-cars pack DLC by about 6 hours!

Now I have to wait for Christopher Lloyd to die in order to get me some cheap cars... #notaste #notatwitteruser

Of course knowing MS, when that happens they'll make Crazy Taxi XBLA free for 2 hours instead...

You bite your tongue, that man is a gift. He is what makes time travel possible. Well that and a visceral amount of shaking.

Just throwing this out there. I didn't think much of saints row IV going in. I have played the series fairly recently starting from 1 and fell in love with the ridiculously stupid fun romp rolling with the third street saints. It must of been the collapse of THQ and the saints row 3.5 talk that got to me.

So imagine my surprise when i get deserving slap in the face with a tentacle sword. I liked the story better then 3, i was already fond of the characters. The game was just damn fun. I just won't buy the stand alone, i want everything so i will wait for the inevitable wub of the year edition.

As funny as it was, it had it's deep moments. Kudo's to Volition, without spoilers i never thought "You got what i need" would make me well up but it did.

#11427118 Humble Bundle Thread

That's the whole point, to enjoy something maybe even learn a little. I feel the same way for any medium that gets piled up, books or unused art supplies etc. It's like you have all these undiscovered worlds, some better then others yes waiting to be experienced. I would play Aliens: Colonial Marines if i had it and try my to the best of my ability to get that dancing alien glitch, cause who doesn't love space balls.

I beat a lot of games last year, i think maybe the most i've beaten ever or in a long time. Tough year too, all that was missing is maybe getting struck by lightning and being hit by a meteor instantly afterwards. That saga looks like it will spill over into this one. That is for another time and another place. I did feel something though that i haven't felt in a long time and i think its the closest thing to nirvana that i'm gonna get to at the moment. It's like how i used to feel as a kid doing something i really liked.

I was doing the same thing fox and i think a lot of people do, I remember hearing how if you tell your goals to people, you feel more motivated to complete it. So i've been screaming at the top of my lungs and it's fine if no one hears it, i know i said it so i'll do it. Not literally.

The internet is a vast canvas, put whatever you want on it. It will last longer then you will so keep that in mind.
