You know how they say for every positive there is a negative, that there always has to be some sort of balance in this world between good and bad (lets face it we all play games and we all know what im talking about here). Well the purpose of my next lowball has changed and I will appreciate it if you read through this.
Back in november a few days before thanksgiving, my step father was in a bad car accident (lets just say my father because he has been in my life since i was 6 and not many people are lucky enough to say they have two fathers that they can look up to.) What happened was that he was being driven home on a saturday night and there happened to be a trailer, that was attached to a truck owned by a lawn company, sticking out from the lawn and onto the road. It was too dark and by the time the driver saw the trailer it was too late. The trailer sliced through the car and through my fathers right arm almost completely severing it. Now the following chain of events happened that if they did not occur he would have lost his life.
My father is a well known physician assistant in miami and where the accident happened was in front of a doctors house. The doctor ran out to keep him from bleeding out while he called 911. They airlifted my father to the hospital where he happened to work at. this was at 9-10pm. That night at the hospital they were short staffed so they ended up calling in certain doctors that would have been off that night, those doctors were all good friends of his and were able to save his life and reattach his arm and reconstruct every ligament and veins in his arm.
My father went though 10 different surgeries to graft skin to his arm and attach a metal brace to his arm and so on before I was able to make it down on thanksgiving to see him. My mom hadnt slept in 3 days and my brother (16 years old) and my sister (10 years old) were staying at their friends houses while this went on. I told my mom to pick up my sister and i told my brother to come home, that my wife and I were going to have thanksgiving dinner for them. My mom stayed at the hospital while we all had thanksgiving. That night I told my mom to come home and I would stay with my dad so she could sleep and spend some time with my siblings and my kids. While I was there with my dad his arm got infected and thus started another chain of surgeries. in a matter of 11 days he went though 14 different surgeries and was under the anesthetic for the better part of 2 weeks.
After 31 days of being in the hospital he came home. But now he obviously wasnt able to work until he healed and my moms income was definitely not enough, but atleast the insurance company was paying some stuff, but no workmans comp because he wasnt at work when it happened.
So here is where it comes in from what I said in the beginning, how for every good there was something bad. This was a month after I had lost my job but then you guys came to my aid and helped me out with my pervious lowball. Then the accident happened, and then in december my wife got a job and was going to start in January and then my unemployment got fixed and was backdated so everything seemed like it was looking up! But then my benefits ran out because congress wasnt voting to extend them, and just when it ran out I got a job! But then on my first day my mom found out that the hospital is terminating my dads employment because he is not able to work and they are not sure when he would be able to come back, so now they have no health insurance and have to apply for obama care. On top of that my mom tried to see if he could get unemployment at least so it would help with something, but they said because he is not able to look for employment he does not qualify for unemployment benefits regardless if he was let go and it was not his fault. So now, they went from living on a combined income of 100k+ with a mortgage and second mortgage on the house and my brother in private school to an income of 25k+
So this is where I come in, im going to sell my games, for them. Games I can always get back, but my family is my family, this is my way to help them so this will be my final lowball, probably for a very very very long time. If you guys had eyed my collection in the past and have wanted something but I have not put it up for sale here is your chance. I will be splitting the lowball into two different ones to make it easier for me to manage.
For a little more information here is a website that was started up to raise funds for my family, it has been since closed for donations but the info is still there. http://www.microgivi...draiser_details
