#14239937 XBL Deals - 2019

Has anyone noticed a change to how GPU works with game sharing?

I could be wrong, but I thought that was the way it worked even before GPU?  I remember there being posts on reddit back before GPU even started that described game sharing GP.  The other person had to search for the game in the store.  Since it's not tied to their account (it's tied to the home console), the GP section in Games and Apps won't be "active" for them.

I remember when I signed up for the $1/month GP deals (before GPU was a thing), I would tell my game share partner to look up the list of GP games on the website and then search in the store to download whatever he wanted to play.  (This was before they added that Game Pass tab to the Home screen.)

So I had the Gamepass EA Access, Discord and Spotify offer. I clicked it but then backed out before selecting anything. Now it is gone. Any way to get it to appear again?

Same here, it was late last night and I wasn't going to start scanning in QR codes with my phone and yeah never came back. Although even that tile looked all kinds of jacked up to begin with.

Same thing happened to me.  On console, go to Games and Apps.  On the left side, scroll down to Gold.  On the right, click on first tile (Xbox Live Gold - Play together with Gold).  On the next screen, "Claim your Ultimate Gift" should be a tile on the right, under Featured.

Someone needs to make a guide of how to use game pass as the quality library grows I’m lost in what to play, how to play, etc. should I dabble in everything for 20 minute intervals? Make a list and power through one by one? So many games and no time.

Here's how I manage it.  When I first signed up, I went through all the games and hid the ones that I've already completed/played or never want to play.  Whenever I finish a game (whether that means completing it or deciding it's not for me), I uninstall and hide them.  As of right now, there are only 60 games showing in Ready to Install when I go into Game Pass.

When they add new games, I do the same review process.  Anything I've already played or don't ever plan to play gets hidden.

I look through the remaining games and see which ones I'm most excited to try out (alternatively, ask yourself, "which games, if they removed them from GP today, would I be most sad about or regret not having tried?").  Then I install the top 2 or 3 of those games.  Play/try them.  Uninstall and hide when done.  Then repeat.

Also, if you do Rewards, I would recommend not playing new games right away.  They usually have Reward quests for new games the next month.  So all the new games they added today -- I'm not bothering to install or play them til I see what the December reward quests are.

Mind saying which one is stuck?

Not OP, but for me, most of the counter ones aren't tracked properly.  For example, in the game stats (which you can see through the Xbox interface), I had around 170 companion special attacks before the achievement for completing 50 of them popped.  Same with the Items Upgraded stat and achievement -- the Xbox said 95 before the achievement for 30 popped.  My "kill 30 automechanicals with shock damage" was also stuck at one point.  I was by myself and only using a shock weapon and partway through a base, it stopped counting for some reason.  Luckily there were other automechs later in the game so I was still able to get the achievement.  (Didn't do anything special to fix the achievement; it just started tracking again on its own later.)

Fuck Shadowkeep. Lured me in, bought it up, enjoyed the Moon again, being back, cut scenes hot, story and lore then the stupid stoppage of it all for some shit fest ill conceived grind fest for bounties. Lame, as lame as the new ripped off rocket league season pass content. I spent the money, and enjoy destiny 2, so I’ll spend time in there but fool me twice shame on me on this one. Fuck!

Yeah I don't understand how people can keep playing the same activities.  I was a day one Destiny 1 player.  It was fine at the start because this was all new to me.  Never played a grindy game before.  Then a month into Destiny 2, I got tired of it all.  Doing the same few strikes and same public events just to level up.  So mindless.  Even when everyone kept saying Forsaken improved D2, when I read up on the new changes, it was all related to grinding so I passed.  I'm done with D2.  They need to change things up drastically for D3, if there is ever one, to even tempt me.

Wow, I'm surprised at all the people who don't like the autoplaying of the trailers/videos.  Didn't think it was a universally hated feature.  I thought it was pretty cool when I first saw it.

It would've been a nice feature... if the audio wasn't so goshdarn loud.

Re: Xbox E3 show

The thing to keep in mind is that this isn't supposed to be a super amazing show.  They're probably preparing all their ammo for E3 2020 because their new console launches that fall.  Next year is when they want to blow our socks off so we'll spend the money on their new console.

The show was decent.  Highlight was the Keanu Reeves reveal, imo.

#14174472 Xbox Game Pass Ultimate $1 only !

Small point in the frenzy, but the actual math is, months of Gold remaining + months GP remaining + 1 (the month of Ultimate you get for the dollar).

Thank you!  I updated the OP to reflect that extra $1 month.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is only $1

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a new subscription option that gives you Live Gold and Game Pass for one monthly fee.  With this deal, you will get the first month of Ultimate for $1, plus it will convert any remaining months you have on your existing subscriptions to Ultimate (up to a maximum of 36 months/3 years).

For example, you currently have 6 months of Live Gold.  Sign up with this deal and get 7 months of Ultimate ($1 for first month, 6 months of Live Gold converts to 6 months of Ultimate).

Second example: you have 9 months of Xbox Live Gold left and you have 6 months of GP left.  First month for $1 + 9 months + 6 months = 16 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Additional tips below.

Once subscribed/converted to Ultimate, if you go to the Xbox website, you can turn off recurring payments if you don't want to pay $15 after your sub ends.

Potential way to maximize your $:  The longest possible Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is 3 years.  If you can find Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass deals for cheap, buy enough so the total of those plus your current remaining months <= 36 months.  Redeem all those codes, sign up for Ultimate, and get 3 full years of Ultimate.

This might be an E3 related Game Pass announcement so I'll put it in spoiler tags for those that want to be surprised tomorrow.

After finding out that it's not really a Netflix for games, and instead encourages both a subscription service AND digital purchases, I am no longer interested.

This.  You have to buy your own games and so you're basically just paying a subscription for the ability to stream.  They specifically said new games will need to be purchased so that means no new blockbusters in the list of free games; those free games are probably old or lame ones anyways.

I'm expecting Jedi Fallen Order to be like Tomb Raider and Uncharted.  There might be some light RPG elements, like doing X to unlock this skill, but nothing as extensive as a real RPG like Skyrim.  And that also explains the no-character customization options.  The dialogue and cutscenes are set in place.  It's about telling a specific story for a specific character.  Not about you creating your own persona and your own story like Skyrim and Fallout.

It's probably more action focused and I'm expecting a lot of Titanfall-feel to it (you can see the wall running at 1:17 of the trailer).  Also in that same scene, notice the beams moving in and out of the wall.  Probably after this cutscene, it will transition to you having control of the character to do that platforming gameplay section.

Not sure how I feel about Joker being the actor.  Would've preferred a no name actor....

Started The Division 2 earlier this week and got part way through the mission at the theater but had to stop.

Went back in today and it didn’t save my progress, which is fine, but now it will not let me deploy the repel ropes to start the mission. And it won’t let me leave the compound going out the front (truck won’t move).

Guess it’s a bug? May just have to start the whole game over again.

I wouldn't waste time restarting.  People are reporting similar problems on reddit.  Looks like some servers are bonked right now.  They can't access ammo crates.  Can't open doors.  Etc.  Just give it some time.

Also, for the future, mission progress doesn't save if you leave in the middle of it.  You always have to complete each mission in one session.  The game does save your loot and XP along the way though.

I wonder if they’ll open up the Anthem demo to do a stress test or something as the weekend goes along. Don’t really want to pre-order - after all the price debacles in November and December, I’m hesitant to pre-order anything at all - but I may go with a month of EA Access again just to try it out some more. Enjoyed the Alpha, but it was very limited.

There's another demo period next weekend (Feb 1st) and it'll be open to all.  Everyone can try it out then.  No need to preorder if you don't want to.
