Sorry that new versions of the same games Microsoft has been releasing for the past 10 years didn’t do it for me. Not really sweating it though, with Game Pass I can just let them sit there while I play things on PC and PS5. Some of it was impressive, but nothing grabbed my attention.

Hi - not really responding to you directly, but your point resonated with me.  I feel like as each year goes on, it takes more and more to impress me.  Part of it might be me getting older and having played more games, but part of it is also my personality... I like new stuff.

At this point I'm all Battlefield-ed and Halo-ed out.  I've spent thousands of hours in those games and are not excited for them at all.  Will I play them?  Sure.  But I'm not excited for them.  Like, I'll drink water each day, but I don't wake up excited at the thought of "F yeah I get to drink water today."

Sure, there were new IPs shown off today.  However, if Game Pass didn't exist, none of those got me excited enough to say I would buy them day one for $60.  None of them had anything super exciting or innovative that grabbed me.

The only trailer that I even remember is The Outer Worlds 2 and that's because it was such an amazing idea for a teaser.  If anyone hasn't seen it yet, I highly recommend it.  Worth it!

Guess I'll buy OlliOlli for only 99 cents. Cheaper then a McChicken.

Guess I'll get OlliOlli, I can spare a dollar without whining about it later.

Guess we know one of the free GWG for next month...  ;)

Definitely might be a waste of time if you waste 10+ hours just trying to 100% the really quick shitty games with easy GS. But if you use it as motivation to play through some backlog games, it's actually quite nice.

This speaks to me.  There are so many games I want to play from GPU and Games with Gold that whenever these 10k challenges come up, I use the opportunity to go through my backlog/wishlist since a lot give easy achievements in the beginning.

This prompted me to start Dungeon of the Endless, and even after going through the tutorial I'm still not 100% how the game works.  Like, when you've explored all the rooms and are ready to move to the next floor, you go back to the first room and interact with your crystal.  This starts the final waves of enemies.  Do I try to move through the dungeon with the crystal and try to survive or do I just weather the waves of enemies and they eventually stop?

You have to pick up the crystal and move it to the exit, and all players have to be in the exit room to progress to the next level.  I usually plan out my exit path and, kind of like in a tower defense game, place items along those paths that will slow down or take out enemies as you are moving.  Each character has different movement speeds, so sometimes it helps to have the fastest character pick up the crystal.

Once I understood the mechanics, I thought the game was very addicting.  Have fun!

I must be the only one who isn’t loving Journey to a Savage Planet. I love the concept, the humor and aesthetics but I find myself getting stuck on parts here or there and turning it off. First there were some dinosaur looking things you had to shoot their tails while the bulldozed you. Then there was a lava cave I couldn’t blow up a wall in. I thought I would really enjoy it after watching some streamers play it when it first came out.

My friend and I couldn't finish this.  Aside from getting stuck a few times, after a few levels, we got the hang of it and felt like we had enough.  It reminded us a bit of the first Assassin's Creed game in terms of the overall repetitive structure.  Go to a new level, find the entrance to next level, oops you can't get through unless you unlock new ability, do things to get new ability, go to next level, repeat.  The humor was definitely nice, just not enough to keep us playing.  We did enjoy what we played though.  There just wasn't enough to entice us to keep going.

Messed around with Anthem for a bit last night ... still has a lot of issues but the scope of the map, ability to fly and exploration felt way more interesting than Destiny, even though when the first Destiny launched it seemed like it would have great team-based exploration. It’s a shame that Anthem hasn’t done better or been improved, because it seems like it could be way more fun than Destiny if done right.

The movement and combat is so well done.  There's no other game that gives players that sense of freedom and the movement of actually being Iron Man.  Loved that aspect of the game so much.  It's so sad they dropped the ball on everything else.  I know they're working on improving the game right now so fingers crossed...

I was trying to play Telltale Batman last night for achievements but I literally fell asleep in Chapter 4 of Episode one. When I woke up my Batman was just standing there and I had missed some dialog choices. I don’t know how you make it through these Telltale games, it’s like a long cut scene on a Square Enix game that never ends.

I have never not fallen asleep playing a Telltale game.  Their story telling is great and I wish they would've pivoted to making animated shorts or something rather than making "games."  Even during supposedly tense action moments, like crawling away from a zombie, the gameplay just feels so slow and sluggish that my mind just slowly shuts down and wants to nap.  Plus their games are so "on-rails" that even when you do have choices, they are limited so you don't really need to do much thinking...and to me, that signals to my brain that it's nap time.

TLDR: their story telling is great and enjoyable, their gameplay is slow and makes me sleepy

anyone sign up for the xbox hall of fame or whatever its called..????

I signed up, know I have no chance of winning one of the consoles but may win gamepass. I could easily earn a decent amount of gamerscore in the time-frame but know I'd basically have to make it a full time job and would still be a slim chance of winning.

I just saw this on my dashboard and signed up.  Even if you might not win the categories, they are still doing random prize drawings for all participants so worth signing up, imo.

My concern is whether or not Game History Privacy matters.  I read through their terms and it doesn't say we need to make our Game History public so I'm assuming Microsoft can pull our achievements right out of their database.

My cousin buys the new CoD every year and plays with his friends. He started buying them digital because it's more convenient and once the new one comes out, he never revisits the previous titles. Sports games are like this too.

This is exactly why I do buy physical for those types of games.  If I know I won't play it after a few months or after a year, I can at least trade it in (no matter how miniscule the trade-in value) for some $ rather than have something that is now worthless.

The only times I go digital is if it's a title that I play continuously (like Rocket League, Rainbow 6).  For me digital or physical depends on how much I think I'd like the game and how much I'd play it.  Anything that is short term, I go physical so I can at least extract some value back by trading it in.

Unfortunately, I don't think that show did them any favors.  They should've just released those trailers separately, like one a day or something.  They didn't need to hype up a whole show for that.  I wasn't expecting much and even so I was underwhelmed.

Alright, backloggery time. In an effort to resist buying FF7R a bit longer, I'm looking at games I already have access to. Help me choose, do I start:

-Nier Automata

-Quantum Break

-Void Bastards

-Yakuza 0 (never played any of the series)

-Kingdom Hearts (haven't played in ~18 years)

I’ll be in the minority and say Quantum Break. Great action game with a good story

I second this.  If I had to order that list in terms of priority/desire to play/how much I enjoyed each game, I would just shift the top 3 around to QB, VB, and Nier.

Has anyone noticed a change to how GPU works with game sharing?

I could be wrong, but I thought that was the way it worked even before GPU?  I remember there being posts on reddit back before GPU even started that described game sharing GP.  The other person had to search for the game in the store.  Since it's not tied to their account (it's tied to the home console), the GP section in Games and Apps won't be "active" for them.

I remember when I signed up for the $1/month GP deals (before GPU was a thing), I would tell my game share partner to look up the list of GP games on the website and then search in the store to download whatever he wanted to play.  (This was before they added that Game Pass tab to the Home screen.)

So I had the Gamepass EA Access, Discord and Spotify offer. I clicked it but then backed out before selecting anything. Now it is gone. Any way to get it to appear again?

Same here, it was late last night and I wasn't going to start scanning in QR codes with my phone and yeah never came back. Although even that tile looked all kinds of jacked up to begin with.

Same thing happened to me.  On console, go to Games and Apps.  On the left side, scroll down to Gold.  On the right, click on first tile (Xbox Live Gold - Play together with Gold).  On the next screen, "Claim your Ultimate Gift" should be a tile on the right, under Featured.

Someone needs to make a guide of how to use game pass as the quality library grows I’m lost in what to play, how to play, etc. should I dabble in everything for 20 minute intervals? Make a list and power through one by one? So many games and no time.

Here's how I manage it.  When I first signed up, I went through all the games and hid the ones that I've already completed/played or never want to play.  Whenever I finish a game (whether that means completing it or deciding it's not for me), I uninstall and hide them.  As of right now, there are only 60 games showing in Ready to Install when I go into Game Pass.

When they add new games, I do the same review process.  Anything I've already played or don't ever plan to play gets hidden.

I look through the remaining games and see which ones I'm most excited to try out (alternatively, ask yourself, "which games, if they removed them from GP today, would I be most sad about or regret not having tried?").  Then I install the top 2 or 3 of those games.  Play/try them.  Uninstall and hide when done.  Then repeat.

Also, if you do Rewards, I would recommend not playing new games right away.  They usually have Reward quests for new games the next month.  So all the new games they added today -- I'm not bothering to install or play them til I see what the December reward quests are.

Mind saying which one is stuck?

Not OP, but for me, most of the counter ones aren't tracked properly.  For example, in the game stats (which you can see through the Xbox interface), I had around 170 companion special attacks before the achievement for completing 50 of them popped.  Same with the Items Upgraded stat and achievement -- the Xbox said 95 before the achievement for 30 popped.  My "kill 30 automechanicals with shock damage" was also stuck at one point.  I was by myself and only using a shock weapon and partway through a base, it stopped counting for some reason.  Luckily there were other automechs later in the game so I was still able to get the achievement.  (Didn't do anything special to fix the achievement; it just started tracking again on its own later.)
