#14202815 2019 Thrift Store Thread -- Share Your Findings Here

Picked up a very clean pair of black and white Converse for $5 and a Zippo in the box with "JACK" on it for $10 at a smaller thrift store.

Neither one of those seems like good deals. Maybe hobo deals. Bro a new pair of converse at all the major retailers for like $29.99 and personally I don't wear used shoes or clothing. And a $10 dollar zippo with a name on it ain't anything special either.

Honestly IMO the seller got just as good a deal as I would rather have the $15 bucks too lol.

OH NO! A random internet stranger out of 7.5 billion people of which I'll never know, meet, or care about typed some words online about me/us? Lordy lordy whatever will I do? My life is over and my feelings shattered!

Enjoy your $30 dollar burger king glitchfest indie games.

You and me both man. I have fond memories of my TGFX-16...the initial  batch of games are mostly great so far. But, no one has even mentioned Legendary Axe, Keith Courage In Alpha Zone, Blazing Lazers!!!! We also need Devil's Crush, which is better than Alien Crush...Bloody Wolf (which was Capcom's Commando on steroids), Side Arms, Vigilante, Dragon Spirit, Forgotten Worlds, Ordyne, and the complete Bonk's series.

We can skip China Warrior, mainly because my friends laughed and made fun of me after I bought it and ran through it for a mere 10 minutes.  That game sucked.  I did return it to Babbages. I swear!

What I really hope is that Konami takes their emulation serious and doesn't half-ass it. I mean, look at what they did with one of their prized franchises in the Silent Hill Collection for PS3?

For me this is going to be a waiting game.

Babbages is not a name you hear often now. I remember shopping there for my games when I was a kid. Got some Mario beanie plushes from there too. Pretty sure they latter became part of the EB games/ gamestop franchise. I used to love that store in my mall in south FL.

Found my most expensive GBA game today and thought I was lucky...

Only paid $7 dollars for all three games. Then a hour later I was in a four car pile up rear ended standing still. My back shoulder and arm hurt and my new car is totaled.

Picked all this up over the last two weeks. All from a mix of goodwill, thrift stores, flea market and walmart clearance.
Diablo II expansion set  $3 goodwill ( Still had gift wrapper on it and everything was mint so I suspected the keys were unused and sure enough I was able to register them on a battlenet account. Been playing this game the most since.
Disney sports football $2 goodwill
super smash bros melee $3 goodwill
Castlevania $3 goodwill
twisted metal 3 $3 goodwill
Not pictured
Fossil fighters DS $3 goodwill
super punchout Wii $3 goodwill
super mario sunshine gamecube disc only $3 gamecube
super monkey ball 2 gamecube $3
Diablo reaper of souls expansion $3 walmart clearance
Razer Black Widow ultimate gaming keyboard $11  these were 90% off original $110 marked $55 but rang up cheaper.
Corsair Glaive gaming mouse $7  also 90% off original $70 marked $45 but rang up $7.00
Gameboy SP pearl blue AGS 101 $20 letgo
Fire emblem 2 $5 letgo
ruiner pinball atari jaguar factory sealed $12 flea market
Gameboy SP radioshack battery replacement $2 shipped after a $3 ebay off promo plus the seller accepting a best offer. My official ones are fine but I mod and resell gameboys so always after quality batteries for cheap.
Then while at walmart I tried the claw machine for a dollar and won this SEGA sonic ball thing. It's official SEGA licensed.
Then today at the thrift store at the end of the day I found 6 of these cassette storage cases for $1 each. A few year ago I found better Napa brand ones that are deeper and can hang on the wall. I might have a contest to give one away on this site.
I have a 100 and a 30 Napa cassette box ( This are the best IMO) the lips are bigger for the games to sit in further. The other kind the advantage is it fully encloses and blocks UV and accidental spills etc. Regardless I plan on adding some retro protection. Stay tuned for my unsponsored review.
And my best find was these three N64 games from goodwill. They had a bundle with 14 games and system for $199.99. After some back and forth and almost passing it up I talked them down to $130 and I mainly only got it for one game snowboard kids 2. I knew I good recoup most of my money. I also did a label upgrade on pokemon stadium. Mine had no label at all, swapped it for the mint one before selling the bundle on ebay. I think it sold within 2 mins of the listing and I recouped all my funds expect $3 dollars. So paid about a buck each fees already calculated.  I took these three out and I think swapped with a clayfighter, army men and another shovelware title that I forget.
Not really after shovelware any more. Going to be downgrading a lot of my genesis sports and N64 shovelware titles. I have no desire to play them nor collect them and they hold no monetary value so really shitty games just takes up valuable space.

#14176919 TurboGrafx-16 Mini Retro Console (Amazon Exclusive : Pre-orders start July 15th)

Posted by needler420 on 12 June 2019 - 04:29 AM

I won't, I've got a turbo everdrive for the rest.

They will hack this just like the NES classic and the SNES classic and the playstation mini.  At that point its the same legality running roms off a everdrive or this running custom firmware.

that is my plan to get this and hope hackers open it up.

Turbografx 16 was a system a lot of people didn't get to play and pretty rare so it keeps prices up, something like this can make people sell of their system and games. A everdrive is not cheap either and Krizz is constantly making new models every few years. These mini systems can run custom firmware so as time goes you don't have to worry about lack of features which can be updated in software. Those everdrives in the start didn't have save states and so many other problems. Last I checked there was FIVE versions of Krizz's everdrive alone just of the SEGA genesis/megadrive. That is not counting his everdrives for other systems or any other third party ones not by krizz. That's just five revisions of the sega genesis everdrive alone, each time adding new features and capability. Some can run more roms then others.

This mini console becomes a everdrive that updates itself. You never need to buy the next version of a everdrive.

You'd also miss out on a bunch of deals by calling. You call and they see a good price and say "we don't have any". If you have luck at stores that show 0 on BS and WM, than just head to the store anyways instead of calling and ruining the deal for you and others.

Half the time you call the people in electronics have no clue about video games and electronics to even know it was a good deal. Half the time it's a middle aged person that don't know their ass from their elbow.

Best buy and gamestop is a different field. They actually hire people that specialize and interested in the field. Wal-mart and target not so much. They are just wheel turners working the electronics.

Posted by needler420 on 12 December 2018 - 12:52 PM

So much on sale but maybe the only thing I'll get is Farpoint VR.

I have a BB gift card that I got for a birthday (truly a gift that had so much thought and effort put in to it) that I can use to get something special (to retroactively make the gift well thought out).

BB sells the Aim controller separately and now I can get the game for it.

What else is good with the Aim controller? Maybe that's on sale too?

You sound not very appreciative of something someone gave you as a gift. I mean If your 15 then that's appropriate, not if your 30.

That's probably why is wasn't more personal. You'd find something to complain anyway. Rather then the gesture that someone did something nice for you. If you were my family/friends etc. you'd get nothing with that attitude.
