Bought a 1TB Samsung drive on Newegg about two weeks ago for $70ish.
Make sure it's 2'5, 5400 RPM (some say this doesn't matter and some swear that it does due to heat).
Also remember that just because it's 1 TB doesn't mean your'e going to get 1 TB, You'll wind up with more like 850gb and if you're wanting to back up then you're going to need a external HD with enough room to hold everything and backing up and restoring takes a very long time if you have a lot of data. You'll also need a thumb drive (or that same external hd) and download the PS3 firmware.
It was incredibly easy to install. Had zero issues.

Again, I wasn't saying this was a bad drive, though just one without any reviews, which is normally my caution flag.
If HGST is a WD company (hard to keep track of who's who still in the drive industry), then they should be reasonably quality drives. Though, when Samsung's HDD business was picked up by Seagate, the SpinPoint drives seemed to be getting worse in quality.
I know that I have seven Scorpio Black drives (one 750GB in my PS3 that has worked fantastically) two WD GP-AV drives and five RE4 drives, I have quite a few WD drives that I've bought and have had zero issues with.
