#14367905 Official Family Video Used Game Sales! 2.0

Posted by fmwross2 on 06 January 2021 - 07:17 PM

I went by at lunch today.  I didn't have much time, but didn't see much in PS4/X1.  The top price for a Switch game was $29.99 though so not bad for most everything with Mario in the title.

The movies were pretty badly priced, not in a good way.  Everything on the outer walls that wasn't already priced they were asking $12.99 for (Blu-Rays don't come with DVDs even).  Since it was on the outer wall in the "Superheroes" section, a beat up DVD copy of Avengers 1998 was priced at $12.99.

Grabbed a couple Switch games for $29.99 (Paper Mario, Mario Maker 2) and a couple Criterion Blu-Rays (Marriage Story $5, A Hard Day's Night $6.99).

#14362714 $5 VUDU Credit for $2 (eBay) Max 5/Account, Codes Expire 12/31

Posted by fmwross2 on 18 December 2020 - 06:04 PM

There are VUDU credits expiring at the end of the year that multiple sellers are dumping for $2 for a $5 code on eBay.  I believe they expire 30 days after redemption.  VUDU limits these specific codes (starting with VCGS) to 5 per account.

On three accounts I have purchased for $10 each:

1. Tenet UHD + a couple bucks left over in credit.

2. 11 or 12 Disc to Digital titles

3. Two mid-range new releases.

They're running their end of year sale right now, which is just ok but with this it's pretty good.  Just getting something like the entire series of The Office for about $15 makes this a pretty good deal.

Is my reason flawed in thinking this way or is this pretty much doable:

I'm not sure if I want to play ESO but with GCU and the $10 GC, would I be safe to assume that I'd be able to get $40+ around the next 30% or better trade in and break even? If so, be willing to go tomorrow after work and do so and be at the worst with a title that I could use toward reaching Elite.

Not really flawed, but that's not 100% how it works.  Typically the first two to three weeks (or more) $60 MSRP titles are $40 base trade in, making them $44 w/ GCU.  When they did the bonus 30% and I traded in Witcher the 30% actually knocked it down a buck to $43 because they lowered the TiV for the 30%.  If you notice, Witcher's base actually increased from $30 last week during the 30% to $35 this week without (it went from $40 to $30 during the 30%).  So, typically even if you hate it you will actually make a few bucks when you factor in RZ stuff.

Alternately, if you want to be extra safe you could preorder it in-store for $5, wait to pick it up until the TiV is shown on BBY's website and figure out if you want to return the preorder or buy the game.

I typically will buy almost everything that comes out with a $10 credit, play it, trade it in, and roll it over to the next one.  Most stuff I trade in, a few I won't.
