#13639587 Amazon Warehouse Deals Thread XVII

I wouldn't count on these being CIB, no matter what the listing says for these.

No retro console that I've ordered from AWD has ever been complete despite their listings saying so. It's always great when it says that it includes everything and then arrives with nothing but the console in a white box - in fact, I once ordered a Game Boy that had the exact description listed above that turned out to be just like that (i.e. just a Game Boy in a white box). I stopped buying anything like that from them because I didn't feel that it was worth the risk of getting banned for too many returns.

Nice.  But kinda off topic, when you use Amazon gift cards to pay for an order completely, is there tax?

Yep. Stinks, too, because I can go to places like Gamestop and not have to pay taxes when I use my store credit.

I'd be interested in the Master Sword statue and the Master Edition box if you are piecing it all out.

Yeah, you and at least three other people have expressed interest in it already (which wasn't really my intent when I posted about it, believe it or not - I genuinely wasn't sure if there were people who liked to buy only parts of a CE). I'm waiting until it actually gets here to decide on what to do with it first.

I know enough of us here have already crapped on the game, but I also played the beta and was a little disappointed, as almost half of my games would never connect and/or keep me stuck on a loading screen until I forced the game to shut down, and the gameplay itself wasn't really connecting with me in the couple of hours I was giving it a shot. I assume that the game doesn't screw up as much now that it's actually out, but that's likely a losing bet. That being said, my favorite moment was when I shoved someone off a dock into some shallow water and they died. Body disappeared and everything. I was dying of laughter for a while after that one, but I don't know if that's $60's worth of entertainment.

Nobody got past Water Temple as a kid. Nobody. Don't even tell me you did, because I'll know you're a liar. Didn't stop us from playing it for months on end, though.

That reminds me of how I spent what was likely months trying to get into the third dungeon in A Link to the Past before randomly realizing one day that there was a chunk of the mountain that wasn't there while you were in the Dark World. To be fair, I was only eight or so at the time, but I always laugh when I look back at that time, especially since I can now easily beat the entire game in a day if I really want to. I actually didn't even get a chance to play Ocarina of Time until I got the Master Quest disc for preordering Wind Waker (my family wasn't the richest, so usually any video games I had were old/used or bought with what little money a child could save up), so it never gave me any trouble by then.

on topic: who would like to see a game streaming feature on Switch? similar to NVIDIA Shield

No joke, I just saw that thread a few minutes ago and thought, "Is this one of the guys from the Switch thread?"

#13631064 Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Fire Emblem Fates Conquest 3DS Each...

Personally, I think Fates was pretty poor by comparison. I put a ton of hours into Awakening and had fun with it every second. Fates on the other hand just didn't have that same spark or draw and I put it down a while ago and haven't ever felt compelled to go back to it.

Conquest had my least favorite plot of the entire series - and yes, I'm including the NES games and their barebones stories. I'll take something like that over something that actively hurts me with how stupid it is. Corrin is also my least favorite lord of the series thanks to it, too.

In simpler terms: grr, grr, I hate Conquest. The gameplay in all of the Fates games is really good and a breath of fresh air for the series, though, which makes the bad plot hurt that much more.

How is Fates compared to Awakening? I still need to finish Awakening :/

I think that the core gameplay is better in Fates, but most everything else, especially the story, is worse. Awakening's my favorite in the series simply because it has the most characters that I enjoy, as well as a ton of support conversations for each one, but it's likely the easiest game in the series thanks to the fact that you can grind as much as you want and turn off permadeath (which you can also do in Fates, albeit not as easily, especially in Conquest - unless you pay for DLC). Unlike some series veterans, though, I don't mind it, especially since I enjoy min-maxing sometimes and these features can easily be ignored/turned off if you want a more "authentic" Fire Emblem experience.

If characters and the story don't matter to you as much as gameplay, then you may enjoy Fates more.

How much does message board PR shilling for Nintendo pay?

Asking for a friend.

10 Platinum Points per post. Every ten posts nets me another Stamina Potion for Fire Emblem Heroes. Did I mention that it's free to play and on both Android and iOS? You should download it today.

All of you being paranoid about your gamerscore/trophies are silly tho. No one really cares.

This sums up my feelings on it nicely. I think it's asinine to present the argument of someone being "discouraged" as a reason to leave out achievements. Should we also start removing multiplayer because a new player might get discouraged when they continually get teabagged by someone who's been playing for over a thousand hours?

That being said, I'm clearly on the side of achievements being included in games. I've had fun with them ever since I bought my first Xbox 360 back in '08 and discovered them for the first time when I accidentally killed a few too many stormtroopers as Vader in Force Unleashed and earned one for it. Many of the more clever ones add spice to the games I play, and honestly, I've often gone out of my way to get the Xbox versions of multiplatformers due to the fact that I like having all of my achievements in one place. If Nintendo made a proper system for them, too, I could see myself buying their games over the competition's much more often - then again, I doubt you'll see many multiplats with the Switch, given that it's not capable of matching the power of an X1 or PS4, but you get my point.

I've also really enjoyed how they added achievements to Fire Emblem Heroes that actually reward you with points through MyNintendo that you can exchange for in-game items and would love to see something like that implemented in their future games. That's also in addition to the in-game quests that also give you items and have goals that are much like the achievements in other games (e.g. use a certain character in a specific chapter, don't lose any units, etc.).

Did amazon change the condition guidelines for videogames? I thought G and VG meant the games should include cover art and manual. Right now I'm tempted to buy from a "just launched" 3rd party seller, but I have a feeling his "Good" and "Very Good" games are going to be disc only and probably scratched. He didn't write any description. I sent him a message to ask, but I'm still curious about conditions.

No one follows the rules for condition grading and it drives me insane. No, your "Like New" game that comes with just the cartridge is not like new. Use your damned head. Amazon doesn't do anything to quash it, either, and hell, sometimes even they don't follow their own guidelines. It's supposed to be that if the game doesn't come with everything other than download codes, then it should be listed as Acceptable. Always.

So we all agree that Second Story was the apex of the series, right? Top five games of all time for me.

Star Ocean 4 is the one on 360/PS3 - as already stated, this is the fifth game. I like to pretend the series died after the third one, though.

Merry Christmas to all of you!

Quick deal question, ordered something from Best Buy last week and it had guaranteed Christmas delivery. Ordered two other things, they arrived in 2 days like normal. The other one though should've arrived on the 19th, it went to Memphis, to Nashville, back to Memphis, and as of the 20th it hasn't moved. It says "in transit, delayed" and calling, they launched an investigation yesterday.

Think this package is lost? It was just a side gift so I'll still make sure they get it, it'll just be after Christmas.

I once had something very similar happen with a Best Buy order of mine two or so years ago. When I contacted them about it, I want to say that they gave me a refund for everything about a week or two after it kept getting tossed back and forth between two locations (they couldn't have reshipped what I ordered since they were pre-owned games that were out of stock). What's funny is that it eventually made it to me, albeit a month or two later and in really beat-up shape.
