#13197973 Amazon Warehouse Deals Thread XVI

Glad someone else grabbed that Gears of War 3 while I was thinking about it. I really don't need more games and god help me if I grabbed yet another CE full of goodies I don't care about. My closet doesn't have any more space ever since that Arkham Origins CE that popped up during the glitch way back when.

I know I'm venturing dangerously off-topic here and there'll be at least one person who yells at me for not sticking to video games, but there's a few Star Wars-related items that appear to be decently priced if you don't mind dingers:

Star Wars Chess Game (VG) $15.09 (LN) $16.01

Monopoly Game Star Wars (VG) $16.03 (LN) $17.01

Risk: Star Wars Edition Game (VG) $13.72 (LN) $14.55

Star Wars The Black Series Risk Game (LN) $39.94

I have to wonder what everyone else looks like now. I'm 6'3" and only 157 lbs., and even that's only because I haven't done a lot of exercise in about a year now (neck injury). I usually give everyone too much credit and think they all look better than me.

On topic, for those brave enough to risk a used controller:

:ps4: DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Wave Blue (G) $36.18

:ps2: PS2 Controller Extension Cable - 6 Foot (Bulk Packaging) (A) $2.30 (G) $2.46

PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller (Black) (A) $24.58 (G) $26.21

:360: Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows & Xbox 360 Console (VG) $19.83 - Sounds like a dinger.

:360: Xbox 360 Wireless Controller - Glossy Black (A) $20.90

Well, at least the discussion is video game-related. Have some random deals, ranging from great to lukewarm:

:pc:ASUS VS278Q-P 27" Full HD 1920x1080 1ms DisplayPort HDMI VGA Back-lit LED Monitor (VG) $127.68 (11 in stock)

:pc:ASUS MX279H 27" Full HD 1920x1080 AH-IPS HDMI VGA Back-lit LED Monitor (VG) $138.56

:wiiu: Super Smash Bros. GameCube Adapter for Wii U (LN) $16.19

:br: Samsung BD-J5100 Curved Blu-ray Player (2015 Model) (VG) $17.69 (10 in stock)

Marpac DOHM-DS, Natural White Noise (actual fan inside) Sound Machine, White (LN) $27.39

ScoopFree Self Cleaning Litter Box (VG) $97.37 (LN) $103.10

Nature's Miracle Advanced Hooded Corner Litter Box (P-5915) (A) $21.77

Don't knock white noise machines until you try them. Now I can't sleep without one.

I was just checking them out online. I usually dig the darker story lines, but which would you say is better? Or more in depth/requires better strategy?

I'd say Days of Ruin requires more strategy thanks to how they overhauled a lot of the old system you saw in the first three, as well as some of the COs in Dual Strike being overpowered, but I enjoyed Dual Strike much more, as it had many more commanders (almost all of which were in the first two games on GBA) and a much more vibrant, happier theme. Days of Ruin put itself in a brand new, post-apocalyptic world, with none of the old characters returning, which was a bit of a shock after the other three. Both are great, however, and you can't go wrong with either. I'd say start at the beginning, with the first one on GBA if you could, but you won't be lost starting out with any of them.

I'd actually take a new Advance Wars over Fire Emblem at this point since it's been so long since they put out a new one. Maybe even a new F-Zero, if it was similar to GX.

Also, if you're that in love with strategy, look up the fan translations for Seisen no Keifu (Fire Emblem 4), or if you're feeling extra sadistic, Thracia 776 (Fire Emblem 5, which takes place in the middle of 4). You'll never complain about the series being too easy again. The former has a marriage/child system that's similar to Awakening, too, if anyone wants to complain about romance in their strategy games.  :boxing:

I want a small 3DS because the pixel density sucks and makes me hate my XL

Me too. Still waiting for a black N3DS to make its way over to this side of the ocean.

#13188941 Redbox - Free Game Rental Every Wednesday of February!

Posted by thievery on 05 February 2016 - 01:29 AM

Yeah, Deadpool was... okay. I'd say it's a solid one or two day rental. Doubt I'd ever want to play through it again after beating it once; the combat isn't so hot - not terrible, but not great - and the jokes are hit or miss and once you've heard them once, there's really nothing left.

Some might want to know that, thanks to the streams of the English version that are going on right now, it's been shown that the Amie mode is basically in, just without the face petting (i.e. all of the models and some of the dialogue are still there). There's evidently new events when you're married, though no one's played far enough to see what that is yet. Wouldn't be surprised if it was at least the kissing scenes, though there still may be hope for the petting scenes (you know, for the guy who said he wanted to rub his genitals on the screen).

Unsurprisingly, I'm really happy to see that the models and dialogue are still there and hope most of you are good with the other changes.

#13184946 [Best Buy] Fire Emblem Fates deal; Save $5 each on Map Pack 1 or Revelat...

Posted by thievery on 02 February 2016 - 10:47 PM

You have to pay to get experience put back in a game. Jesus H Christ. This game gets more diluted day by day. I'm this close to just cancelling.

It was also in Awakening, though you could grind without it in that one - it just made it easier by giving you enemies that leveled you up faster. 11 maps for $18 (or $13 if you take advantage of this deal) still isn't too shabby, though. If anyone doesn't know exactly what's in the map pack, here's a list from Nintendo.

#13184714 [Best Buy] Fire Emblem Fates deal; Save $5 each on Map Pack 1 or Revelat...

Posted by thievery on 02 February 2016 - 08:45 PM

From what I've heard, Birthright is easier and has more options for grinding so you can level up your characters if you're having trouble. Most of the maps also have simple objectives. Conquest is more difficult, sometimes has specific objectives like defending a castle for a specific number of turns, and has no free battles so you have to manage your resources carefully.

You can grind in Conquest if you have the EXP map DLC, at least (which, conveniently enough, is included in the map pack and will be available on the 25th).

Thanks for the heads up. I originally pre-ordered both for physical, but now that they have the bundle and the DLC available for just $3 more than I was going to pay, I went that route.

Dunno if you knew it, but I'm throwing this out for anyone else who might be interested in going physical for both: one drawback is that data isn't shared between the versions if you do that, e.g. the support logs won't be merged for both games. You also get the same amount of save files regardless of which method you use, so you don't have to worry about being stuck with only 3 slots for all of the paths if you go digital (you get an additional 3 for each story you buy).

I'm actually surprised to see that the posts here that are against the removal are civil, but there are a lot of people coming in here and being insulting about it, acting as if anyone here has said that the game's ruined because of the censorship and that they're not going to buy it. Sure, there are a ton of people who are saying that elsewhere on the internet, but not here. I never once thought I was going to not buy this and even expected them to take out the face petting, myself.

Here's to just hoping they replace it with something that still lets the majority of the dialogue remain. Anything that adds characterization and immersion is good in my book.

I used no rush shipping on most wo surprised some came this quick. Rest will come next week it appears.

Meanwhile, the desk I ordered with Prime last Monday is still three days away (and yes, I'm aware that shipping a desk is a much different beast than some games, but it's still supposed to be Prime). Anyway, Dark Cloud 2 was one of my favorite games of last gen and I'd kill for a new one.

Um these look like the remake of the gamecube controllers. Can the Gamecube controllers be used on the Wii U?

They have to be plugged into a Wiimote to work, so I assume they function as one (edit: according to the product page, they function as Wii Classic Controllers). Not sure if that answers your question, but that's what I know.
