#14369889 Best Buy GCU to be discontinued 3-1-2021

Posted by Kerig on 15 January 2021 - 03:54 AM

Anyone else remember when GCU first started, they would have coupons in the magazine?

Remember that one time Best Buy got drunk and they raised the price of GCU to $120? Those were funny times.

#14333034 Is this site no longer that active?

Posted by Kerig on 08 October 2020 - 03:21 AM

I don't wander throughout the site or post comments much these days, but I still check CAG almost every day to scroll through the twitter feed on the right hand side to see videogamedeals, cheapyd, shipwreck, and wombat posts. I don't use twitter directly unless I'm trying to never win a CAG contest or reply to a compelling post.

Also: I have never missed an episode of the CAGCast from episode 1.  It has been my favorite podcast for 10 years longer than I thought the show would exist.

Deals may come and go, but CAG will always be my home...on the internet.

#14332788 Best Buy Deal of the Day, $5.99 PS4 and Xbox One Games

All of these games are worthy pickups for the price. Yoku especially is an amazing game.

Worked for me, not solicited at all (but I always see the "get 5% bonus bucks" offers on the main page)

Bought 10lbs of Copper Sulfate Crystals for $1.50+tax net.

(flush about 2 cups of this stuff down your toilet every 6 months to prevent tree roots from clogging your pipes)

#14295300 YMMV PS4 and Xbox One games are at Dollar Tree for $1!

Nothing but cosby show boxsets, louis c.k. Stand up specials, house of cards seasons and baby driver at my $1 tree

What horrible crime did someone in Baby Driver do?

Dragons Crown Pro is an excellent co-op game, so you can play with him.

The sheer amount of Ginormous Tits et al. in that game got so many sour looks from just about anyone walking by during any cutscene paintings or shop screens. You may have mistaken "play with a 6-year-old" for play with yourself.

Any idea how to use our monthly $5 pro certificate now with the stores being pickup only? April's shows in my account with the wording:"Monthly V2 Online Only" but the coupon code doesn't work online and still says "valid in-store only".

#14274396 PSA: Spend your leftover Gamestop credit ASAP

Posted by Kerig on 21 March 2020 - 01:07 PM

Does every Amazon and Ebay 3rd party seller need to shut down?

If the answer is yes, Gamestop will continue to get income from their online sales.

No, not at all. Amazon is just limiting/delaying their warehouse incoming stock (and shutting down resellers scalping goods). That doesn't impact you or me from selling a game from my house to someone else. All mail/delivery is still good. USPS/Fedex/Amazon/UPS have confirmed staying operational.

The real problem/issue: Gamestop is on the bottom of just about everyone's list if it resorts to buying online-only. The only insurance we had with their used stock was that we could exchange it in-store if needed. With that option gone, NO ONE will be choosing their garbage garage sale mystery selection over Amazon or eBay for used games.

#14269549 Slay the Spire (PS4/Xbox One) $7.99 New, $6.99 Used @ Gamestop

Posted by Kerig on 06 March 2020 - 12:45 PM

This is the single best item/deal you can use your March $5 voucher on. $2.99+tax out the door.

For those curious:the deck-building aspect is nothing like traditional pre-game build style. It's a more similar feeling to when you're at Sam's Club walking around and you happen upon a free samples table: you choose which flavor/item you'd like out of 2-3 available. Then a few aisles down you find another samples table and choose another one of those choices.

Arcade1Ups have an amazing secret! STORAGE!  So much empty space inside these cabinets...enough to hold entire collections of empty Pop! Vinyl boxes :)

I've seen Rampage in stock for $200 at multiple Walmarts for the past couple months. Being a wave 1 system with no control panel overlay and broken Gauntlet rom, I won't even think about touching that one until it dips below $100.

Picked up Rampage from Wal-mart for $200 as a midlife crisis/reward for cleaning up my lower game room.  It was box-stamp dated QY4102018A (Oct 2018), and to my surprise it came with the plexi overlay :)

Not sure what all the hassle is.  Used my Feb coupon (by showing it on my phone after mutterings of "It's not showing in your account yet") to pick up BOY! for free.

Didn't even know they reissued Atreus/BOY!, and he's not even searchable on their website, but these Totaku figures are great for $4.99/free.

This is an amazing sale regarding the variety we rarely see anymore. The prices aren't the lowest ever for most of the games, but they're close enough to justify buying if you missed out on a game you've been waiting to go back on sale for way too long...
