#14301916 PSN Weekly Deals - 7/22: Summer Sale! $21 Control, $20 Chocobo...

Go read some user reviews, bud. The vast vast vast majority of them talking about Naughty Dog injecting "stupid SJW shit into my video games!" "There's no reason to have characters talk so much about what sexuality they are in a video game that has nothing to do with that!"

If you want to be blind and ignorant to it then that's on you, but that doesn't mean it's not there.

Interesting thing about these "user reviews" is that they were apparently made by people who didn't play the game. I just finished it over the weekend and I can hardly recall a moment in the game where characters talk about their sexuality. Lots of projecting going on from people who apparently just can't handle playing games about people who don't look and act like they want them to. I don't imagine the game will feel preachy unless the players themselves have some pretty deep-rooted biases.

Anyway! Just finished the game this weekend and I liked it quite a bit. Not as good as the original, but still a remarkable game in a lot of ways. Some of the levels just drag on too long and the pacing gets thrown off by the amount of time you spend looting around. I also didn't really care for all the new characters. But there are plenty of intense story beats and the gameplay is surprisingly fun. This is the first Naughty Dog game where I would actually look forward to enemy encounters. I usually find the stealth and gunplay in their games to be a major shortcoming (especially in the Uncharted series) but here it's very satisfying. It will be interesting to revisit it on the PS5 and see how they improve on the visuals and performance.

Glad to see Ring Fit is (sort of) becoming available again for folks to order. I really can't say enough about what a great exercise program it is, especially after the most recent update that allows you to add the jogging courses to your custom workouts. For anyone who might be getting sick of Adventure mode I highly recommend making some custom workouts. I've made a few different ones to focus on different body parts and cardio challenges. You can make some pretty tough workouts. Here's one that I made and recommend trying out (List E is the warmup):

Spoiler

I'd also post a pic of what I look like after doing that but I don't want to make anyone sick.

Really looking forward to the new Pokemon Snap. I think my 4-year old will love it. Incidentally, my son is named after a good friend of mine who passed away 10 years ago. He and I were briefly addicted to the original Pokemon Snap in college so it's going to be one of those weird full circle moments when I play it with my son. I definitely won't cry.

Very briefly fired up P4G and it's obviously not a revelation on PC but it looks really good (1440p and 200% scaling). Gameplay is very smooth. I played it back on PS2 and again on Vita but it's been quite a while and good JRPGs are nearly nonexistent these days so I'm really looking forward to playing it again.

Four games in that series just feels like overkill. Almost like they're Trine too hard or something.

Anybody have a double tv/xb1 setup for coop gaming with the spouse? Been considering this idea...I mean we watch zero tv and only use the couch/single tv setup for coop or watching each other game anyway.

I'd be interested is hearing some pros/cons of the setup if you have done it.

I had that back in the day with the PS3. My wife and I had a lot of fun playing Saints Row 3. Honestly, no real cons to speak of. I'd say go for it if you're going to do a lot of co-op. I'm more of a movie buff and my wife likes TV shows so I still have two different panels so we can watch what we want separately, but we have a kid now so any gaming we go tends to be local co-op where we can all play. But I'll definitely do the dual setup again some day when my son is old enough to do some real gaming.

Has any other game ever been on 3 generations of consoles before? GTA V - PS3, PS4, now PS5.

I’m sure there are others but RE4 comes to mind.

Great for everyone here that you are going to be able to play Bloodborne on PC though.   It was my favorite game of the PS4 generation.

It's my all-time favorite. I'll definitely be watching tomorrow's livestream on the toilet just in case this is true.

Every game so far is super dark lol, where is the animal
Crossing style games?

Demons coming out of armor, corpses hanging around a Christmas tree...

I'm hoping that the success of Animal Crossing has MS seriously considering a Viva Pinata reboot, or even just a updated remake of the first game.

The modern day AC stuff is essentially the ketchup on the AssCreed pizza.

Incidentally, I've been playing AC: Origins again to do all the DLC stuff and that game always had the distinction of being the only modern-day Ubisoft game where I haven't glitched through the bottom of the game world. Well, not anymore!

I've now finished SoR4 and I truly had just a sliver of health remaining at the end. One more hit and I'd have been a goner. Great game but it did have some weird difficulty peaks and valleys. A few early levels felt really tough and quite a few of the later levels and bosses were a breeze. My main complaint would be that the game has a hard time generating difficulty without throwing tons of enemies on screen. That goes for the levels and also the bosses, who were all relatively easy unless the game made you fight two at once or kept throwing three or more of the tougher grunts at you when you're trying to focus on the boss.

I'm about to start the last level of Streets of Rage 4 and I love it. I was a Genesis kid in the 90's and Streets of Rage 2 was a Top 5 game for me on the system. The new game feels just right and what I really appreciate is that it looks and sounds great whether you use the new or retro audio/video settings. Lots of nice throwbacks and surprises for fans of the old games without feeling like pandering. Using Blaze for my first playthrough but I'm looking forward to plowing through with all the different characters over the weekend.

I just can't see spending 1200 or more on a tv.  The most I have ever spent is around 400-500 range for my 60+ inch phillips smart tv.

It all comes down to value and it''s going to be different for everyone. I bought my first 4K OLED just after I had a kid. I knew I wouldn't have as much time for gaming and I knew I'd be home a LOT. It ended up being an incredible investment and it really opened my eyes in terms of what I'd been missing out on with 4K content, and like Nothing said, it brought the older non-4K content I already owned to another level. I mentioned this before, but if you enjoy film at all, it is at least worth looking into. You're finally able to see films at home the way they were meant to be seen and it's pretty great. And my wife doesn't care about it at all so if nothing else I know I'll get all this shit in the divorce.

How so?  What could someone do with a DOB, Email, and someones Nickname (not real name)?

I'm really confused how this could be used in a nefarious way.

Possibly ruin your life. An enterprising scammer can make a little go a long way so it's best to take these things seriously.
