I'm not keen on open worlds anymore but I'm still hoping FromSoft will put on a clinic and show the world how to properly design an open world that is dense with meaningful content. I can't wait to play Elden Ring. At the same time I hope it's a one-and-done and Miyazaki goes back to designing proper levels with his next game.

In any case, early 2022 is looking good. Elden Ring and God of War PC are going to keep me on the toilet for a while.

I know you're really into unpacking things but children can't eat styrofoam peanuts.  Well, they CAN but they shouldn't.

He likes dipping the ones that dissolve in ketchup. Seems okay to me.

Too late, I've been unpacking boxes full of old crap I need to sort for the last two days.

Old crap and dust. Mostly dust.

Never waste time doing something in real life when you could be wasting time doing it in a videogame.

Also an Unpacking update: luckily the game only took a few hours to beat so I was a eventually able to spare a few moments to open a bag of peanuts for my boy.

Don't start playing Unpacking on GamePass if you're responsible for cooking your child's dinner within the next hour because they will go hungry.

The new Playstation PC label sounds promising. Seems all but assured that all new PS5 games will end up on PC eventually, and with any luck they'll port some older stuff too. I would love to see the Resistance series on PC but who knows if Sony will think it's worth the effort to get PS3 games running on PC.

Meanwhile I still can't play more than 15 minutes of Far Cry 6 without feeling like I'd rather be dead. At the same time, I've been spending at least an hour every day playing Cozy Grove, a game about finding shit for ghost bears so they can tell you how pathetic their lives were before they died. Bottom line: I'd rather be a pathetic ghost bear than play Fer Cry 6.

I guess you can pay $15 for a month of Ubisoft+ if you're confident enough that you can get everything you want out of it in 30 days.

What does Far Cry 6 have in common with a CAG mom?

30 minutes should be more than enough.

I came here to post Far Cry 6 impressions but I haven't been able to play the game for more than 5 minutes straight before getting bored and turning it off. Once I have a few more 5-minute sessions under my belt I'll come back and post my full depressions.

this Far Cry game sure feels like a Far Cry game. now i know how it feels when people say "x" sports game is the same Fuck ing game every year. anyways, playing this game feels great on my new 8bitdo pro 2 controller. now that is a quality product, unlike this cookie cutter damn Far Cry game.

Christ that reminds me that I have a free copy of this from buying a 5800x nearly a goddamn year ago. Fuck. Now I'm going to have to actually play it.

Quick laptop question. It's not for me, obviously, since I would never buy an electric frisbee, but let's say one were to buy a laptop strictly for the purpose of, let us say, "music production" and they wanted some cheap, low profile expandable storage for their $300 paper weight to store said music files. What would be the best option???

I saw another cag give away a code and noticed it's the same as the one I had.  In other words, it's probably a universal code that's free to abuse.

Add this to cart.  voucher code XXO911APB4M70F4U

I don't know what the hell that is but it worked for me.

That build looks amazing. What's the specs?

And I need to get back to that game (Horizon: Zero Dawn - Complete / PC version on GOG). Gorgeous-looking game.

Yeah, Horizon Dongs is great. The best combat in any open world game I've played. Really satisfying to take down the big robot things. As for the PC, it is:

Ryzen 5600x w/ ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO

EVGA FTW3 3080ti

Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING ATX AM4

Corsair Vengeance Pro 32 GB DDR4-3200 CL16

Crucial P5 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME (boot drive)

Samsung 870 QVO 4 TB 2.5" SSD (for the gamez)

EVGA SuperNOVA GA 850 W 80+ Gold

be quiet! Pure Base 500DX ATX Mid Tower Case

I've been in a bit of a parts procurement frenzy in the last few months but after finally getting it all in place this week and slopping it together I'd like to think...

People have always loved QTEs. Shenmue, Resident Evil 4, God of War are all beloved games. All the Quantic Dream games have been praised from the very first to the most recent. Same with the Telltale games.

QTEs are something an odd number of people pretend to hate while praising every game that features them in any major way.

Hmm, outside of God of War and RE4 I can't think of any game where QTEs in particular were praised. Most great games (or even mediocre ones) that are successful aren't successful because of the QTEs. If anything it is in spite of them. Shenmue got flack for them even back in the day and while I don't understand how anyone can make it through an entire Quantic Dream game I've never known anyone to like them because of the QTEs. So yeah, I guess "people have always loved QTEs" but I think it was maybe about 5 people. Everyone else just tolerates them.

Peaked with the first 25 minutes of the first game. Everything after the beach intro is completely forgettable.

But if you forgot it how do you know it wasn't awesome? You can't even remember!
