#14440014 The Gamestop Thread

Posted by themidgardknight on 21 November 2021 - 06:55 PM

I just wanted to confirm that pre-owned games are still buy 2 get 1 free in-store! I just bought six pre-owned switch games. When I asked they checked and confirmed that the deal works on pre-owned games but not new games. Sorry but I was not told when the deal is over.

Edit: I didn't ask them to price match but the new lower prices were reflected in my purchase.

Thanks, man! Just picked it up for $10 shipped.

Thanks for thanking them... I didn't know about this deal, so I totally took advantage! Valhalla for $10? Literally can't beat that deal.

Thank you to the handful of you who realized the Switch Lite could be traded in this past weekend for $175! I recently ordered the Mario Switch (let's face it, it's a Spidey Switch lol), so I didn't need the Lite anymore. I thought about keeping it as a backup, but that $175 makes for some decent store credit.

And honestly, people oftentimes hating on Gamestop, but I just got $175 store credit for something they sell for $180. That's one of the best trade-to-resale values they've ever given (that I can think of.) So again, thanks to those of you who realized that $50 bump worked on the Lite!

Godspeed my Coral Cutie (haha)

Not that people are happy in this thread right now, but I happily took advantage of the curbside delivery with the Buy 2 at $10 each, get 2 free! I picked up Assassin's Creed Origins, Wolfenstein 2, J-Stars Victory VS+, and Dragon Quest Heroes. I know some of these are a little older now, but hey $5 each to bolster my PS4 library now that my wife has stolen my Switch for Animal Crossing... I'll take it!

Anyone else get anything they were pumped about?

#14223237 The Home Arcade Tremendous Deals and Discussion Thread

Posted by themidgardknight on 30 October 2019 - 03:06 AM

Where was this at? My local store has them listed for $74 on BS and 2-3 for quantity. I was gonna go up Thursday after work and see if they actually had one. Was still kind of debating if it's worth it.

The one I went to was Dumfries, VA. Terrible staff lol. I've had a lot of problems with the NOVA stores having BS stock and absolutely nothing to be found in store.

#14223220 Walmart YMMV In Store Clearance Thread I (READ THE FAQs)

Posted by themidgardknight on 30 October 2019 - 01:59 AM

I had SF2 pop up for $75 at a Walmart 45 minutes away from me. Said there were 2-3 IN STOCK! I took the chance and drove out. "We don't know what that is... Oh, well we don't have anymore... Oh that floor model isn't for sale." Didn't even bother checking inventory or offer to sell me the shite floor model (still ran fine, cosmetically beat up.) I wasted an hour and a half on one of my busier days to run into a completely incompetent employee who I have a feeling knew about the price...

Thanks to y'all for the recent tips on the 4 for $10 flips AND the $2 VR headset counting as a console purchase with 2+ preowned games being 25% off. I found NUMEROUS headsets so it was easy to take advantage of that sweet deal.

I was able to get Fallout 4 for $4.73, Prey for $6.75 (LOVING IT, def recommend), and Fallout 76 for $13.50 (was interested in this with all the new content incoming.) Obviously I also had to pay for the $2 VR headset, but even then, the amount I made from the flips, plus the amount I saved on the 25% off used games made it absolutely worth it. I actually picked up two copies of 76 so me and a bud could play. SO it really was worth all the back and forth and hunting for the headset.

As always, y'all are the best and I thank you for helping out a poor grad student who sometimes has time for gaming haha.

Keep it up, I appreciate you all.

Flipped two sets of Homefront/Killzone/Evolve yesterday & today, but I have all the same people working at all the same locations so I think I'm done. It was fun turning games from $2.25 into $7.20 so I can't complain too much. Haven't flipped in a while, but needed to pay off some pre-orders lol so I'm very thankful for y'all who gave the tip! I really do appreciate it! (I'm a poor grad student, with just a part time job haha)

#13954596 PSN Weekly Deals - 4/10: Rockstar Sale! $20 Owlboy, $14 Aegis D...

Posted by themidgardknight on 27 February 2018 - 04:13 PM

Just to clarify, we can now spend towards the $15 back and it will count even on the deals expiring today? I'm on the fence on a lot of these weekly deals and the spend $100 will push me over the edge I guess.

I looked at the fine print of when the $100 promo started at 12:01am today, where the other deals ended about 8 hours later, so it seemed like it probably all does count! I'm hoping so because I just bought $100 in new VR games haha.

#13953158 Gamestop "New" Thread

Posted by themidgardknight on 25 February 2018 - 01:22 AM

Spent my week hoarding Redbox games, and with a buy 2 get 1 coupon I had, I turned about $150 of games into $400 Gamestop trade credit... Got myself PSVR! And a ton of Funko Pop haha. Pretty happy with the outcome.

Reminds me of Flipageddon, when I got my Vita 😍

I know there were a bunch of issues with lack of discretion over the weekend, and see the usefulness of having a secret group, as as I even ran into another customer who had seen about Flippagedon online somewhere and was complaining about it to the Gamestop staff, as I was trading said products in...

However, even without access to any secret sheets, I made out with a bunch of credit and cool new pickups, including a PS Vita w/ a 64 Gb memory card. As a long time member of this (mostly) wonderful site, I really want to thank the people who were supportive of the weekend's endeavors, even to those who hadn't done this sort of thing before. I sure haven't done anything like it and I'm very thankful of my new handheld. I'm loving the Vita more than I thought I would.

Heck, I even saw on here a teacher and head of their schools video game club, pick up three new systems for his kids. Isn't that an awesome story?

I'd like to see more support of things like that around here rather than the elitist attitude that permeated a lot of the now bombed thread.

Again, this weekend was awesome, so thank you to all you that had posted the FAQ and the helpful tips leading into it.

#13767607 Gamestop Game Days Sale 7/3-7/16

Posted by themidgardknight on 04 July 2017 - 11:22 AM

Absolutely IMO.  I've paid full retail for and enjoyed games that aren't as good.  Not the longest game, but great visuals and a cool story

I saw a bunch of sites reviews, which weren't too friendly towards it, but looked up actual user reviews, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I def ended up buying Rime last night lol. Gonna spendy fourth playing it!!

#13763101 GameStop Weekly Deals Thread

Posted by themidgardknight on 01 July 2017 - 11:07 AM

Tivs tanked tonight anyway right? I will do a few more small transactions. Glad i got a lot done this morning

From what I can tell, everything is still the same as it was yesterday, THANKFULLY

I pulled a MAJOR noob move yesterday with trying to do multiple copies of the same game same platform at the same place. The employee def wasn't happy and wouldn't help me with anything else.. Dude was an absolute dick. So, I left and had to scramble for the rest of the night, fluffing up my trades to get to 6 each Store. Aside from that guy, I had two REALLY helpful employees. One helped me with a console trade in, the other very verbally showed his disdain for the trade in bump, but was seemingly criticizing gamestop policy, not me as the trader.

I wasn't going as hard as many of you, I just wanted to play this meta resource management game with gamestop, and some of you were incredibly helpful with TIV and where to snag the games for cheap elsewhere, between Target, Walmart, and BB.

I spent more out of pocket than most, just because I wasn't prepared for the work of flipping those B2G1's (I was at work from 10-7), but I've still come out on top with like 3x as much credit as how much I spent. Even came away with a new console.

TLDR version, thanks to the CAGers who are supportive of our community. I honestly had more fun with the process than the product I was getting.

Go to the Visa Checkout website and log in and then go back to Best Buy and checkout again. It should work now because it just did for me (I'm on Firefox as well)

You're a genius Petey Parker!! Good show!

Posted by themidgardknight on 16 February 2017 - 03:32 AM

Still getting the error for VISA CHECKOUT ISN'T CONNECTING or whatever it is... Tried about 5 times and no luck. I was shooting for Berserk, Nier, and Horizon Zero Dawn :/

PS if you haven't played the Nier Automata demo yet, DO IT. You'll want it. That's why it's in my cart currently.

Wish the dang Visa checkout would work though! (PS I'm using Firefox and it ain't working.)
