#12887207 amiibo Deals and Discussion Thread

Been busy the past 2 weeks or so, saw a ton of alerts and such re:amiibo, but never saw where all the 1st-hand data came from (Besides the info-graphic) did NOA do a nintendo-minute or direct or something that I missed?

Just a press release with some accompanying images including the infographic, giant Yoshi image and more.

Some people were thinking all this news deserved a Direct but most of the news here relates to release dates and a few other odds and ends. A Nintendo Minute probably would have been appropriate however.

So why don't we stop this nonsense and treat each other with some respect?

Pot. Kettle, etc.

[Long Post]

I know Deader pretty well so I think his pot/kettle comment is referring to that last line. You say "why don't we stop this nonsense", then proceed to multi-quote and post the site rules.

It's nonsense that you would say "I left it ignored", when really you quoted that post to further explain your nonsensical point.

You make claims that people are bullying you because of your disability. People aren't cheering the idea of your last post potentially because you're disabled, people are cheering because you whine, are contradictory, twist people's words, claim to be the victim of discrimination, etc. You say "you're done", "this is possibly my last post", only to continue posting (these are more examples of whining).

Listen - obviously you are doing something wrong when you announce "this might be my last post" and immediately multiple people rejoice. If I made that statement and got that reaction, I'd be so hurt. I'd certainly have to think though, wow, I'm doing something wrong.

You're bullheaded and can't admit your wrong. I can - my rant was a fit of pregnancy rage...and I'm sorry, and sorry for bringing for drama to CAG in that way. I've seen many good arguments as to why Nintendo, Best Buy, whoever, are handling all this wrong. Your viewpoints to the matter, are just not good, and many people feel the same way.

I'm also a person of my word - I no longer want to engage in this, so I will add you to my Ignore settings. I'll still see your posts if people quote you but at least I won't see your original posts. Frankly, your posts are of no benefit to me. Maybe mine are of no benefit to you either- if that's the case place me on ignore too, and anyone who you feel are bullying you. If you're a person of your word, you will either a) stop the nonsense: place everyone who bugs you on Ignore b) leave

Do I discriminate against disabled people by refusing to sell certain items online as they normally do and forcing them to wait in line for hours?

No.

I'm changing my stance to "they are discriminating against evolution".
It's backasswards to refuse to sell products via the internet in 2015 just because they have no idea how to do exactly what Amazon is doing; Announce the selling time ahead of time to those who signed up, Limit 1 per account, have enough stock to sell for more than an hour = everyone is happy and there was no need to wait in a line for hours...

You can just shut the Fuck up RIGHT NOW about your discrimination stance. As a white woman in this country, I have barely anything to worry about in terms of discrimination but we all know the challenges woman face in terms of promotions, raises, pay, perception from others etc. I'm 32 weeks pregnant and I have to pee - a lot. I was walking out of the bathroom the other day and two people were complaining about me behind my back about how much I pee (why they chose the bathroom to discuss this, I don't know...I really do go a lot so they should know I'd likely be there). I've never done anything to harm another soul and they felt the need to point out an embarrassing thing I struggled with even before pregnancy, which has gotten way worse. I don't want to pee...do they think they like the fact that pee slips out when I sneeze, or for no reason at all? It's uncomfortable.

Do I tell on them at this point? I have a male supervisor and I know he really won't understand. I also run the stance of looking like a 'bitch' for saying something. My job posts the amount of "courtesy time" we use for everyone to see (which is strictly for the bathroom for me). It's embarrassing to always be on the top of this list and I feel pressured to hold it or even pee my pants on occasion.

You can turn on the news and find that there's way worse discrimination versus my dilemma though. The fact that a work injury prevented you from obtaining a collectable toy at retail price is NOT discrimination. Best Buy doesn't think "hey, let's sell these in-stores so disabled people can't get them." Their motives for selling Dark Pit in-store (or announcing that they would only be in-store) may or may not be best business practices, but it sure as hell is not discrimination and it's "A HUGE MIDDLE FINGER" to those who actually face real discrimination for you to say that it is.

My problem would have been that I work second shift starting at 4 and my first break isnt until 7. All Palutenas were gone by that time

I work without supervision so I could have just whipped out my phone at any time and put in an order, but I forgot it went up for sale at 5. Not to mention I have an import coming withing the next few days (hopefully)

So... your first comment is basically moot ~  The issue isn't the shift you work on, it's that you forgot/already have an import.

I think Target should expand it's horizons and branch off from being a games only retailer.

I feel bad for whoever makes Golden Crisp because they're going to have a false sense of hope of a brand comeback thanks to this thread.

"Golden Crisp sales up 1100% over last year"

"Rare Replay tops NPD charts first week of August"

Nintendo makes games that are fun, they make me happy. I'm a happier person because of it and that is not hyperbole. Iwata thought that games should be fun and built the philosophy of the company around that. For that he will be terribly missed.

Better to have in store foot traffic

Don't have to worry about crushed boxes from UPS/USPS or the Best Buy warehouse. Won't need to issue refunds or credits for crushed boxes or incorrect stock numbers...

#12779883 Question

Posted by litepink on 01 July 2015 - 08:00 PM

Hi,

My friend and I are thinking to  buy bestbuy gamers club and share it since we both live close to each other. However, in few months, he will move to another state.

My question is would it be possible to still share the account when purchasing games through the shared account if we are distant? or there are some limitation to doing so (such as the account holder has to be present to pick up the game.....etc)

I thought I would get some opinions to help me make a decision...

Thank you

If you're paying with cash I think you would be alright. If you're paying with a credit card there's the smallest (smallest) possibility that someone would notice the discrepancy and put up a stink.

You do not need to be present to use it, although technically it is fraudulent of you/your friend to give someone else's account information. Not sure if it's "illegal" but I'm sure it's against their terms of service and there's a small chance of them suspending or banning the account.

I doubt they monitor purchases, such as "hey, this account bought Witcher 3 in Los Angeles and in New York on the same day and same hour".  But that information is easily available for sure.

Safest bet (aside from two accounts and two memberships), is to make sure the secondary person who does not have their name on the account uses cash, and if at all possible, try to space game purchases apart to avoid suspicion.

Well great, Pit is not coming up online.  ONLY IN BB STORES :(

https://corporate.be...ly-at-best-buy/

Sucks for some people, but I see so many positives about this:

-All the eggs are in  one basket. No confusion with in-store pickups being sold to people in line, etc.

-There is a planned release date; likely a street date. This allows for planning 4 weeks ahead of time (time off work or juggle schedules)

-There is corporate communication in regards to this single product. Knowledge is power.

-No shipping costs for anyone.

Of course there are still problems. Mainly for my store, which will be employees depleting or hiding stock (former employee told me so and witnessed a current employee do it).

Overall though I prefer in-store versus random in-stock notifications online while at work/middle of the night/mid-sneeze.
