Maybe he could take "his wife" to your "fort" of UFCs. Then you guys can hang out and whip out the backlog discussion wars. Whos is bigger? And in the end...not play a single game for the night. I kid, I kid.  :booty:

Hey, I just got the Platinum trophy for Jak & Daxter, so at least I'm playing games!

Well it doesn't mean he didn't go that route, he was posted base values which would still be the same.  I'm assuming Vigilante has been around long enough to not give away $8.

Yea I second what Eldritch said. Vigilante definitely did the trade 2 promo. He knows what hes doing.  ;)

*looks at new copy of Band Hero with plastic seal and receipt*

You guys know me so well.

There was a PUR SotW for the first week of August that gave 20% off 2 or more preowned games I believe.

So possibly that one?

Oh, then in that case, go for it, mask.air.raid.

#10994985 Anime & Manga Steals and Deals (Rightstuf, Amazon, DD...etc)

Posted by Vigilante on 19 August 2013 - 01:19 AM

O.o What was so lackluster about Otakon? Been going for over a decade and love each year.

1. I wasn't a fan of the hustle-and-bustle this year (even more insane than last year), and I definitely didn't appreciate having to wait longer (nearly 1.5 hours) to get my badge because I pre-registered compared to those registering on-site at the convention. My dad summed it up pretty well: Since Otakorp already had our money from pre-registering, they didn't need to prioritize getting us our badges, so they focused on getting more money from the at-convention registrations. I probably wouldn't have minded paying the $10 extra to register at the convention if it meant I wouldn't have had to wait so much longer to get my badge.

2. I was stunned to discover that arriving early for getting a signature constituted arriving nearly 2-3 hours before the scheduled time, as my plan to arrive 1-1.5 hours early resulted in my being unable to get in line due to them running out of "tickets" (which I don't remember being enforced last year). I was disappointed that I couldn't get my FMA:B sets signed by Vic Mignogna, Mike McFarland, Todd Haberkorn, and Kyle Hebert, which was one of the things I was looking forward to.

3. I don't really want to get into the reasons why (they're kind of personal), but Wolf Children was a huge disappointment IMO, nowhere near as excellent as Summer Wars. At least the good news is that I can avoid buying it when it releases.

It wasn't all bad, though--I thoroughly enjoyed Evangelion 3.33: You Can (Not) Re-Do and the live-action Rurouni Kenshin film, and I got to watch the first four episodes of AKB0048 (which I liked enough to want to buy it when it reaches an attractive price point). Needless to say, though, I'll be staying away from Otakon in the future.

Another CAG put it succinctly when he said that Otakon was more enjoyable when you went with friends who could "help you push and shove your way around", but not so much with a smaller group. :-|

Semi-OT, but has anyone ever attended the Anime USA convention that's being held this year in D.C.? If so, how would you describe the environment (hectic, calm, etc.)?

Otakon was such a lackluster experience for me and my family that I swore off conventions for life, but I stumbled across this one and noticed that it's run by a nonprofit organization, which immediately places it above greedy Otakorp in my eyes.

#10993046 Select PS3 "Greatest Hits" Titles for $15 (PS AllStars, Sly Coop...

Posted by Vigilante on 18 August 2013 - 05:42 AM

I still need All-stars, Origins and Twisted Metal but I don't know if I like the price point enough yet.

Anyone know if the All-stars still has the vita version in it? Also am I being too much of a CAG wanting to hold out for $10? :-P

Yup, all new copies of PSASBR have the Vita version available to download (1x per disc).

No, you're not being too much of a CAG. There's no such thing as being too much of a CAG. ;)

Since $19.99 appears to be the new MSRP for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, I think I can wait for it to appear at $10 somewhere.

#10991727 Amazon Trade-In FAQ 5.0

Posted by Vigilante on 17 August 2013 - 04:36 PM

It looks like Supreme Commander (Xbox360) dropped off last night to $3.80. I had it locked in but deleted it last night since it was locked in with other games that I couldn't find... Aaand I forgot to re-lock it in. t.t Lesson learned.

There's a chance it could shoot back up to its $22-24 TIV within the next few days, as what happened with Armored Core: For Answer (:ps3:), so keep checking back and don't give up unless the value doesn't change in the next week.

I already understand how the trade 2 promo works. But lets say I did it 2 or 3 times over the course of a half year or so....would they ban you? I trade there too much and dont want that to happen. Forgot to mention assuming all of the games bought with this promo are returned basically to just get the boost.

I doubt it. Just space apart how long you wait before returning the game (you have 30 days, after all), and try to do the return while you're at a GS for another reason so that it's less suspicious.

You have to do some pretty extreme things to be banned from trading at GS; if you were doing this every day, you would probably be at risk, but you're too smart to do that. ;)

Thanks chief, I will definitely listen to those words of wisdom.

Sorry I couldn't be more descriptive. I know what I would do with all that credit (and actually, I have ~$320 in Amazon credit right now, with more than $100 worth of trades to ship out soon), but I didn't want to generalize my thought process beyond that since you might not see the new consoles like how I see them--not necessarily day (or even month) one purchases, but definitely worth keeping an eye on once released. Hopefully, I can pick up a PS4 bundle or some kind of "deal" in the future, as I've been fortunate enough to encounter for all of my consoles since the Gamecube. Heck, I'm still waiting for something good featuring the Wii U since I refuse to pay full price for it right now.

#10979995 Amazon Trade-In FAQ 5.0

Posted by Vigilante on 13 August 2013 - 09:10 PM

Well, I'm happy.  I just got confirmation for my trade-in and they gave me $391.95 in credit for the T.E. sticks  :D .  Now I'm just deciding whether to hold onto the credit for a while or put it towards a PS4 / Xbox One pre-order.  I'm leaning towards a PS4, IF I was to use my credit to pre-order a system (mostly due to the fact I hate how I can't put music into my Xbox 360 by using my usb stick, but my PS3 lets me do that easily for my NBA 2K games and my PS3 is region free for games like Saint Seiya).  I don't see any real good pre-order incentives (like how only the first model PS3's are fully backwards compatible), I have a massive backlog that dates back to my PS1/N64/Dreamcast/PS2, and the fact that I know they'll eventually release 2-3 slimmer versions of the PS4 / Xbox One in a few years, is making me want to hold onto the credit until then or until I see a great new next gen fighting game I couldn't wait to get my hands on.

My advice: Hold onto the credit.

Thanks to you and Dealseeker. Grabbed this and COD MW3 for the steel book.  :bouncy:

Great minds think alike, I see. ;) I grabbed both for the same reason. It looks like I'm going a bit steelbook-crazy, what with the two Black Ops steelbooks I have thanks to AWD and now these. :whee:

Birthday coupons are activated with the card and one coupon is to be used once per member. GameStop updated its databases, so your abuse might have locked it.

Seriously? Did they change something within the last couple of days? I used the same two coupons I used on Sunday last night and didn't encounter any problems. :???:

Has anyone used the birthday coupon lately? I want to combine it with $10 and get rock band 3 for cheap. Last time I tried to use the coupon it didn't work. It's possible to combine both coupons correct?

Yup, they both stack.
