I had a similar question. What age did you introduce video games to your kids? My 6.5 year old son is starting to get the itch for phone games and I was curious to what other gaming parents thought.
My stepson got introduced around 3.5, when I gave my (then girlfriend, now-ex-wife) my old Wii to play games on with him before I met him. The thought was some of the motion control games would be more kid friendly, like Wii Tennis and stuff. Around when he turned 4, he and I started playing Kirby's Epic Yarn and Mario Kart Wii on it.
By the time he was 5 we had added in Candy Crush from time to time, and got him a 3DS and the Lego Batman games. Eventually moved on to Skylanders, Disney Infinity, yada yada.
Now he's almost 10 and all the kid wants to play is Minecraft. We have weekly scheduled Xbox nights to chat and play it since they moved post-divorce.
I hate Minecraft, but I love my time with that kiddo.

It's speculated that part of the issues with Nintendo accounts getting hacked traces to Emuparadise getting hacked and a massive amount of people having their data compromised last year. I never had an account on that site, nor used it with any of my nintendo systems. Additionally one guy noted that even after changing his email and password someone was still accessing his account and it came from his old 3DS/Wii-U Nintendo Network ID being linked to the account. So that appears to be a backdoor in. Just a heads up.
I've never had a CC or Paypal tied to any of my consoles... or even my iphone (setup my itunes account using the pc version of itunes back in the day)... so all anyone could get with mine is the few cents sitting on it. In any event, protect yourself.
Never used Emuparadise, still had someone try to access my account.
Went in and setup 2FA with Google Authenticator. Then I got a new phone, sooooo I had to remove it with one of the backup codes, go in, and re-add it, because accounts in GA don't transfer to a new device. Bit of a hassle, but the peace of mind was worth it.
And like you, I don't keep payment methods saved on my accounts. Ever since the big PSN hack, I've stuck to buying currency cards, or just doing a one-time purchase and ensuring the payment method is removed after.

I'm considering The Division 2 for $2.99, even though I never played the first one and I probably won't get to this one for awhile due to what I've read about the install size. I'd also be buying just for single player, but I enjoy loot collecting games like Diablo and Borderlands so maybe this is right up my alley despite the difference in genres.
I was thinking the same, but decided at $3 I'll give it a shot.

So can you use Gamestop giftcards on Gamestop's website again?
Also, is anyone else having newer issues with Gamestop's website now? Whenever I click "load more" for more games, it no longer does anything.
It's easily one of the least functional websites I've ever used. I have the same problem.
I also have an issue where if I click to access the filters, they just... never show up. The screen adjusts for the pop-out window, but the window never appears.

I'm on the fence on these...I grew up in the 80's and the NES was my first console so I want them for that reason alone. But I really don't enjoy retro gaming as much as some of my fellow Gen X gamers. I keep thinking I should just put this $30 towards a pair of real joycons (since I need a second pair right now).
Honestly, I didn't even get them for the retro games so much as for the D-Pad.
I never realized how much I would miss having one until I tried playing games with the Joy-Con and it's four distinct direction buttons. I have one of the Hori d-pads (thanks, Target Clearance), but that only works in handheld mode, and I play almost exclusively in docked mode. I do have a pro controller, too, but I like having the options.
Plus, I mean, yeah... retro games. This way when I visit my stepson he and I can play Mario 3 with the NES controllers instead of the joycons.

Thank you! Do these operate just like the joycons? Because I was just about to purchase a second pair. Also, any way to get free shipping on these? Thanks again!
There are some nifty features to using it, but the short answer is "Yes, with a few quirks"
Free shipping... Not that I'm aware of, no.

I have the current version of Chrome installed. However, I can't even connect to the Exchange Server to get my corporate email. Dumb shits.
That's a step up from what we get at my company! "Here's a 5 year old version of IE, and a three year old version of Firefox. Chrome? What's that?"

Re: Ring Fit
Picked it up two weeks ago, and jeebus. I thought I was going to die after the first two days (because I'm in lackluster shape and probably went too long), but it was fun and effective. Prior to that I had been playing Fitness Boxing for a couple of months, but it's... dull? And frustrating, because the Switch was losing track of the right joycon so it wasn't registering punches.
I was surprised at the amount of "Jog In Place" I had to do, which is rough because... well, because genetics. My joints are hypermobile, including my kneecaps, so any kind of running is more likely to cause pain/discomfort/injury. But getting into the battles was a great time, and the variety kept me engaged while getting my heart rate where it needed to be.
10/10 would recommend.

I feel like maybe when I get back to enjoying metroidvanias I should play Hollow Knight. I've been kind of tired of the genre lately.
Side note, I'm doing a 30 day free trial of prime and just checked my account to see when it was going to expire (gotta buy some christmas gifts for my kids) and they offered me another free 30 days. It's like they don't want me to pay for the service as that means I'm good till right before Christmas now and the pressure is off to finish shopping in the next couple days. Just a heads up for anyone else on a free trial... check your account (I checked mine through firefox on my pc... sometimes stuff like that matters).
Yeah, my last "30 Day" trial lasted 4 months before they stopped offering extensions

I have the same issue, as a kid I could destroy RPG after RPG like nothing. Now with a job and adult responsibilities, if an RPG doesn't grab me in the first five hours, I usually put it down and never finish it.
I feel this. Almost my entire backlog right now is RPGs that I just don't have the time to devote to like I used to. I'm only now getting around to Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and I grabbed that special edition at launch.
We won't talk about the stacks of PS1, Sega CD, and Sega Saturn games that I haven't touched yet.

I haven't played Steamworld, but if you those version of DQ do you need them on the Switch? They look just like the mobile versions(which are the worst looking version imo).
TBH because my GBC/GBA/NES are all currently packed away. For storage reasons, I only really keep out the three newer consoles (PS4/XB1/Switch) and one handheld (currently Vita).
Having them all on the Switch is just more convenient, and more comfortable to play than the touchscreen controls.
