#13834571 Target Clearance Thread XXII

Posted by moopher on Yesterday, 03:54 AM

Not exactly gaming related (though you could find good storage cabinets) but Target is quietly phasing out Threshold as a brand and YMMV but all furniture, bedding, and home decor is up to 70% off in-store ONLY. Things like coffee tables, entertainment consoles, cabinets, and bar stools are all on clearance for your gaming needs. Check brickseek before going to see if your store is offering deals yet, as two of ours are already and we made out like bandits on a few items. GL!

I didn't know Threshold was getting clearanced out, but I bought a house last year and have been waiting to pick up some stuff like bar stools on the cheap. Grabbed three of them for like $32.98 each a couple weeks ago. Grabbed some mirrors and other decorative crap for 70% off too.

#13820543 At gamestop Fire Emblem Warriors Special Edition

Yeah, but at the same time, this is less Fire Emblem and more Warriors - I can live with that for the extra $20. Every SE/CE/LE is a different flavor anyway, at least $20 isn't too steep for what's included.

So I think I might be in the market for a dirt cheap 2DS because I want to play Etrian games. Is Gamestop a good place to get these? do they price based on condition, or is it just a flat cost for a 'refurb' and you don't know what you're going to get?

Just what i need, another system to backlog on....

I think the Nintendo store is your best bet - they sell refurbed units for $60. That, or, you can always check the Facebook marketplace or even scour eBay. I've come across sealed units on eBay for $30-40 in the past, it's not common, but patience might reward you.

So the question is, did they crash, did they sell out or did they accidentally put it up?

This was fully intentional - they sent out an email telling people to go buy, buy, buy.

This thing is all over here, SD, multiple Facebook groups that span beyond the realm of gaming, and all over Instagram. Better get ready for cancellations.

Fuck. I didn't get a gift receipt. Am I doomed?

Also, I can't find any decently priced laptops on the Microsoft Store at the moment. Was hoping to get him one before he leaves to start school in late August.

Nope - I did the same thing and just brought it back saying I wanted to PO the Xbone One X instead, knowing they couldn't do it - but he was happy to add me to a contact list.

You guys are right. I was raised to have a European attitude so of course when it comes to manners most average Americans wouldn't understand my perspective. I'll stop responding to this debate (if you can call it one) so we can move on and talk about Amiibo.

Speaking of, no one in line yet nearly 3 hours after I got here. What am I doing with my life? Lol

Let me ask you, how many Europeans do you personally know and interact with on a daily basis. On top of that, how many times have you been to numerous countries throughout Europe.

One thing you should never do, is lump Europeans together. The culture varies so much from country to country. Being someone who works for a European based company where I'm one of only three Americans, constantly working for extended periods in various countries throughout Europe. You have no idea what you're referencing. Between the oxygen tank comment, patting yourself on the back and this weird idea of Europe, you might be delusional.

#13752066 amiibo Deals and Discussion Thread

Just because it's accepted as the standard for lining up doesn't mean it isn't rude. If someone was there before you and you jump in line you are cutting. Period. Joke all you want. Manners went out the window long before I was born so I get your POV but I was raised to believe in holding doors for strangers, saving places in line when someone has to leave for some reason, helping people that appear to be in trouble (yes I've helped people stranded by the side of the road, have fallen down or dropped items, etc), and so on. It's common courtesy. Scratch that. Apparently it's just courtesy now.

I'm standing out here melting in the sun with no one around still and it's a quarter after 8 because of people like you guys. It's ruthless/remorseless but that's they way it works.

No. You're POV is skewed. I hold doors for people, I say "please" and "Thank You" to the point where it's almost sickening, not afraid to buy a meal for someone homeless when they ask - the act of lining up, is physically doing so, not sitting adjunct in your heated/air conditioned car with a sense of self-entitlement merely because you showed up first. If you want to be part of the queue, get in line - it's simple. It's not cut throat, it's not a new age concept and it's certainly far from rude. Then again, being a hypocrite, who doesn't follow the line their own belief system is much, much worse - pathetic actually. You can preach all day, but you're contradicting your sermon.

Ok guys whatever. I've been standing here since 6. It is rude to just leave those people in the dust but you guys are right that you're putting in more effort than they are but still, I guess it's just the societal norm to look out for #1 and Fuck everyone else. Doesn't make it any less discourteous.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's not discourteous in any way, shape or form. Here in MN, we get stuck with below zero temps all of the time. If you aren't in line, you aren't getting shit. I don't do much lining up as I used to, but I have spent half of a day just sitting in nearly 0 weather to get what I want. Anyone too precious to get out of their vehicles lose.

Even this past Nov. when the NES classic came out. There was a dude sitting in his car when I got there (about 20 min before open) and I didn't hesitate to get out of my car and pop into that #1 spot. He remained seated until two more cars showed up and he then, finally, got on line because he understood how it works.

#13720986 Target Clearance Thread XXII

Posted by moopher on 22 May 2017 - 02:30 PM

Are the mario pins worth picking up? saw a whole carton of them at one Target

Also stopped at a Target that had one of the 6TB drives left, wrapping was partly open but box had a security strap on it,. Got home, drive doesn't work. Popped the case open a bit to look inside, someone had swapped the 6tb drive with a 1.5tb green drive. Assuming it isn't working at all thanks to the drm on the mybook controller cards now that ties them to the drive they came with. womp

Obviously, it comes down to preference. I think the subject matter is great, but the quality is completely top-notch. I think there's always been an audience for pins, but now there are tons and tons independent pin makers out there alongside the big guys who make them. In a lot of cases you'd pay $12-20 for pins of this quality, so at their regular MSRP they're a good deal, but at 50% off, it's a no-brainer.
